Formulas Roofing did an excellent job for us. We got hail damage last summer. We were very stressful on the house damage. We contacted a few companies and found that some of them are not honest, instead they just want to make their work as simple as possible and take the money and gone. After comparing different companies, we chose Formula Roofing as our contractor. Pete Southwick helped use out at his best. He always do what he promised, always show up on time and honest the price and work. The best part is they have lots of experience with the insurance companies. We tried to get more work done beside replacing the roof and of course it will be great that the insurance could cover most of the extra work. We didn't expect that the insurance could really cover the deck and garage door painting and a part of the house exterior painting. Awesome, Formula helped me made it happened. We are very thankful about it. Pete came by to make it work when the insurance agent came to make sure everything was fine. We had to work most of the time they were doing their work. They finished the work properly and cleaned everything as new. When we went back home. Everything was done! We are very happy about the entire work! Excellent! We had an excellent experience with Formula, and specifically Joe Miller. Joe came to do an estimate after last summer's hail storm, and when he inspected the damage he identified a number of issues not included by my insurance adjuster. Joe documented the additional damages and began interacting directly with my insurance company on my behalf. In the end, he nearly doubled the amount I was eligible for on my claim, which included new paint and screens among other things. We also have a PV system, and Joe worked directly with the company that was responsible for removal and re-installation of the system. Work was all around high-quality, and it looks great. read more

Last year our area was hit with one of the worst hail storms I have seen in Colorado. The morning after the storm, I had contractors lined up at my door. Taylor with formula roofing was the first in line. I talked to him and about 3 other companies that day. I spent that evening looking up all of the contacts and checked out the reviews. Everything I could find suggested that formula was reliable company. I contacted Taylor to setup a meeting. From day one, he assured me that he was there for me. He offered to setup the roofing and gutters, my windows and the stucco repairs. I told them that they had to submit a bid and I had to get it approved by my insurance company. Per the insurance company, formula roofing was to get approval from me and get paid by me. The insurance company called me and said formula was submitting bills to them for things I didn't even agree on. I told Taylor about this and he told me not to worry that it was just standard procedure and that I would have the final say. I never had a bid or a signed contract when they showed up to start working. I told him I wanted everything to match what was already up. He guaranteed me that if they couldn't match the concrete tiles on the roof, he would fight for me to get a new roof. I came home one day to find 4 guys on my roof taking off tiles. Taylor was there and I expressed my concern that I didn't even have approval from the insurance. He told me not to worry. They had 4 guys and were on my roof for less than 2 hours. I went to look after they were done and gone and none of the tiles matched. They had taken tiles off other parts of my roof and put all the ones they replaced on the back of the house so that I could not see that they didn't match. My house is 3 stories and you can not see the roof on the back unless you are a block away from the house. Many tiles were put on backwards. I have emails proving that I contacted them about these. One day, Taylor showed up and cut some used tiles and put them up and they don't fit. a month later, my insurance contacted me saying they have a bill for almost 13 thousand dollars for the roof repairs. I told them not to pay it which they said they wouldn't anyway. A week later, my wife called me at 7pm and told me there was a truck with Texas plates and a bunch of guys got out and are setting up ladders to get on the roof and replace the gutters. I had no call anyone was coming so I informed my wife to tell to tell them to go. The next day they showed up and replaced the gutters. While doing so, they broke one of the windows and didn't even hook the drain up to the gutters. At that point I called taylor and told him I didn't want any body from his company back at my house. I never received a notice, a bill or an apology until this summer almost a year later. I receive a bill for almost 9k and a letter of intent to file a lien. I contacted the company and they said not to worry about the letter that that was just standard procedure. At that point I started working with Joseph Miller. I expressed my issues to him and he said all he wanted to do was to resolve the issue. He asked me to give him a counter offer to settle from their 8k. I told him the list of damage and what it would cost me to repair and make things right and her agreed to a settlement amount. I told him I wanted a statement agreeing to that amount and at the 5 year warranty they promised on the tiles. He said he would not give me a warranty. 90% of the homes in my area got brand new roofs for the same deductible I paid with lifetime warranties. What was there to protect me that I did't need a new roof and would not have problems in the next couple of years? Nothing! I never heard back from Joe and now six months later I get a letter from a collection agency for almost 9 grand. I will be contacting all local insurance companies to let them know about the attempted price gouging. Their bill went from almost 13k to settling with me for under 4k. 9 thousand dollars difference. I am also hiring an attorney and taking them to court. They got my neighbors insurance to opay over 12 thousand dollars for replacing around 60 tiles in two hours. read more

This has been my first experience with having any roof work done, and Formula Roofing made it as painless as possible. I had gotten four or five quotes from different reputable roofing companies, and Formula tied for the best price with one other company. I chose Formula because of Miles, their sales rep. He was very good about getting me information within the time frames he'd promised, always returned phone calls, and was very professional. Very efficient roofers. We had a tight time line for our roof, and they were able to get the roof done ahead of schedule and it looks great! Communicated well with us, and there was always a site manager checking out the work. Some of the workers broke some tiles while installing it, but they made sure to fix them before signing off of the roof. Very pleased with our new roof. read more

Our concrete tile roof is less than ten years old and is in fantastic condition, we simply had a few cracked tiles that needed to be repaired. It's always a bit nerve wracking to line up a job like this, you just never know who you're going to be dealing with....and to be honest, I don't trust many people (I've had some bad experiences with contractors and small jobs around the house). I called Formula Roofing, and couldn't be happier with my experience. DJ Harrison was assigned our job, and he certainly surpassed all of our expectations! DJ was prompt and professional, he did a quick and thorough assessment and a timely repair. DJ was courteous, honest, friendly and fair. These words are not used often or flippantly in today's world where so many people have sadly lost their attention to small details and customer service. My husband and I truly appreciate DJ and highly recommend him personally for your roofing and remodeling needs. read more

Here's the thing. I either had the best bad experience, or the worst good experience with Formula Roofing. Summary: Super nice to work with; very fast communication; quick response time.... but they didn't do the job due to poor scheduling. I wouldn't say I definitely would not recommend them, but I would hesitate and add something like "well, er, they were nice, but I had to switch providers, so don't blame me if something goes wrong". We were closing on our house August 1st, 2014. It was VERY important to us to close that day and not push the time back. VERY. We found out over the 4th of July weekend (when everyone is closed) that we would have to replace our roof due to inspection issues. I called everyone in the Denver/ Loveland area and got almost no response. Formula called me back on the 4th actually (Friday) to let me know that he had gotten my message, but that all the crews were off for the weekend but that I should go ahead and try to file a claim with the insurance to see if they would replace the roof. I was called again on Monday (the 7th), and we scheduled a guy ("Rick") to come out when the insurance adjuster would be there (Wednesday the 9th). "Rick" came out a little early to check out the roof, then waited when the adjuster was almost two hours late. "Rick" was extremely nice, easy to talk to, really knew what he was talking about. The adjuster wouldn't pay for my roof, so "Rick" gave me a cash quote and was willing to work with me on payment after close, since we were rather cash-strapped till we closed on the house. He got the quote to me that evening. I approved quote and gave the go ahead and was given the option to choose between the 24th and 22nd to complete the one-day job as their crews were booked for the following week. I chose Tuesday the 22nd. I signed the contract on Saturday the 12th, chose the roof color, etc. "Rick" met up with us and brought the materials to us to see and choose. We reiterated that work was to begin on the 22nd, "weather permitting". Annnnd that's when the deal went sour. I was told on Saturday the 19th that our work was actually not scheduled to begin until the 24th. Then on Tuesday the 22nd, we were told that our roof would "definitely be able to be done by the weekend", but not on Thursday because of the rain the previous week. Keep in mind that we had to have the city inspection finalized and another appraisal done, sent to the buyer's lender, and everything approved by Friday, 8/1. THEN we were told on Wednesday the 23rd that there were no crews available to complete our job until MONDAY OR TUESDAY of the following week. Which would push our close. We had to switch companies and find one that could complete a roof with 3 days notice. Which we did (see my other reviews if you want to know who). But to his credit, "Rick" tried very hard to make switching companies as easy as possible. He sent me the materials list, the drop-off times, the work order/ scope of job, etc. to send to the new company. And that was that. What started out as a great experience turned into a nightmare, but "Rick" tried to help out even when everything was going wrong. I appreciated that. read more

We had a really great experience working with Joe Miller. I had a terrible time finding a roofer in Denver to even be honest with me and return my calls. We felt very fortunate to come across someone like Joe. Fixing the roof wasn't a fun thing for for us - we wanted to get it done and make the process as painless and possible. Joe was really easy to work with, efficient and how do you say this on yelp - a no "bs" type of person. I didn't have to sit through hours of consultations , annoying up-selling or phone call after phone call. He was efficient, however, did make sure I understood things and everything was done to our liking. When it came time to get the roof done the crew was in and out without a bother. After the Spring 2017 hailstorm in Highlands Ranch damaged my roof, siding, widows, gutters and exterior wood trim, I contacted Formula Roofing because I had witnessed their excellent work on my next-door neighbor's house in 2016. The complexity of my project went above and beyond a typical re-roof: I relied on Formula Roofing to act as general contractor for roof repair (my insurance did not offer full replace), multiple windows replacement, full paint (excellent), gutters, and custom carpentry (excellent) to replace corbels plus other large trim pieces on the exterior. All outcomes were EXCELLENT and I found that pricing was very reasonable. I owe a shout out to Casey Lewis for the role as general contractor project manager and for ensuring a top quality outcome for the project; and to Beau Liss for keeping on top of the scheduling, insurance and very reasonable pricing. We had a few challenges along the way with the gutters subcontractor and some scheduling delays, but in the end I am very satisfied. All work was performed by Formula Roofing's pro team except for gutters and painting. read more

My initial experience with this company was great. The sales rep was very proactive and responsive and the work was done quickly. However, we discovered that the drip edge on one side was not installed properly after noticing some water damage on the side of my house. My sales rep tried but could not get much action out of the management of the company to send someone to address the issue. I wrote a poor review of the company on Yelp, which prompted an angry phone call from a sales manager. After trying to convince me that I was not his customer, that I was trying to take advantage of him and that the drip edge was not a problem, he agreed to have someone come out and install a fix. We could not agree on whether or not the poorly aligned drip edge contributed to the water damage or that it was due to inadequate gutters, but I am just happy to just have the roof install issue fixed. Now to find someone to fix the siding water damage. End verdict, the local sales rep I worked with was great and the install team worked fast. My experience with problem resolution, though eventually addressed, was less than pleasant in the end. read more

I had Formula Roofing out several months ago to investigate what I thought was a leak in my roof. I called Formula based on the YELP reviews. I was not disappointed and will definitely give them a call for any roofing needs I may have in the future. Miles came out and inspected my roof from both the outside and the inside - which was no small feat given the very tiny attic access in my very small house! - and found no problems. Miles was very informative, very nice to work with, extremely thorough in his inspection and was probably the most respectful guy I've had at my house over the years for the many issues that arise during home ownership. I learned a lot about the company, including their use of recycled hard-to-find roofing materials (good to know for old homes!), and to boot, they didn't even charge me for their time/travel/information! Thankfully, my roof has held up under this current weather but FORMULA will be my go-to roofing company - love the fact that they are local and fully licensed and insured. read more

This is a very mediocre review. The only reason they get 2 stars is The roof, in itself was done fine and I don't have any issues with the roofing work. The timing, and communication on Formula Roofing's part was terrible. Over Promised and Under Delivered. Simple things, Like, "Sure we can get your roof done by Thursday" and Wednesday rolls around and I haven't heard from them. One the roof was done, like I said the work itself seems fine and looks good. I've never experienced a sales person with more excuses and stuff going on with their personal life. I get it, stuff happens in your personal life, however I can't go to my job and tell customers I am several months behind on getting things accomplished because I have personal issues. Either the sales person should have figured it out, or the company should have stepped in and had someone help them...simple The biggest problem, is we got a new roof as a result of an insurance hail damage claim as many people in the Denver area have done in the past several months. Our Formula sales rep promised to handle everything. Deal with insurance directly, get the bid to what it needed to be so that not only would the roof be repaired, so would the other damaged items, i.e. window wraps, siding etc. The roof has been done for months, however any other damaged areas I am left to start all over with and fight with insurance on my own because the sales rep left me high and dry. Still damaged window wraps, still no money allocated from insurance for it. I was holding the roofers check because I suspected this would happen, and against my own better judgment paid them, and they proved me right. What a joke, thanks for causing me MORE work. PS don't leave anything of value out because it may be stolen. The roofers "mistakenly" took some fire pit components off the side of my house and "accidentally" discarded it. I am not dumb, these things that "accidentally" got thrown out don't look like roofing materials i.e. they were just flat out taken. The company did make that right by reducing my bill by the cost of components that went missing, however I shouldn't have to deal with it to begin with. read more

STAY AWAY FROM FORMULA ROOFING! Formula Roofing makes false promises and does contract changes unilaterally without approval of the other party. Should you decide to work with them, strikethrough the 25% clause, it forces you to pay 25% of the estimated repair costs, but no repair work actually needs to be done. They won't hesitate to take you to the small claim court to get these 25%, and are extremely unfriendly. We have learned from this really bad experience, more customer friendly businesses exist, do not let the Formula representative talk you into signing their abusive contracts. read more

so I haven't actually had any work done by formula, but I did call for an estimator to come look at our roof. he was punctual, thorough, professional, and very accommodating. the crawl space to see our attic was through my messy bedroom, and he didn't bat an eye. we ended up not having any work done at that time. but I was pleased by the experience. because of this, 6 months later, they are the first on my list to contact for something I need done. because I haven't had any work done, and am only rating the estimator, I'm giving 4 stars ( "Yay! Formula roofing (F.R.) is a terrible company. The issues started the first day when they delivered the materials and I noticed stacks of OSB decking. I specifically asked for F.R. to use plywood for the decking on my roof not OSB sheeting. Even though this request was stated in the contract F.R. still used OSB and not the requested plywood. Although I was credited for the price difference, that doesn't compensate for using inferior materials. The majority of my complaint is regarding the damage that F. R. caused and is unwilling to repair or compensate me for. The first damage caused is a nail that is sticking out of my bedroom ceiling about 1", which is pointed. The second part that F.R. damaged is the master bath exhaust fan. While working in the attic the employees dislodged the fan causing it to be in contact with the insulation. Since the exhaust fan includes a heater, this causes a major fire hazard. They also left a lot of construction debris in the attic. Additionally although I was rein-burst for this, the workers also drove over the snow melt cables causing them to be unsafe and not reusable. I mention this as a pattern of destructive behavior. And finally while using their power tools the outside outlet stopped working. After checking the breakers and the outlet it was determined that they had hit the wires feeding that outlet with a nail causing it to no longer work. I have contacted Formula roofing to get some resolution but was subsequently called a lier and told that "this behavior of blaming us for things is all too familiar". So apparently I'm not the only one. In addition I was given a $200 "customer satisfaction" credit on my invoice. This was to compensate me for all the time I would be spending cleaning debris from my property. This debris was caused as a result of F.R. having their illegal laborers do the tear off of the old roof in windchill below freezing and wind gusts of over 35 mph, causing the roofing debris to be blown all over mine and my neighbors properties. I am still finding debris on my property over a year later. Not to mention their final invoice to my insurance was 3X their original quote. I would recommend finding another roofing company. read more

Formula did a great job on the front end - they were helpful working with insurance to get my roof replaced after a hail storm. However, the work left a lot to be desired and since they had been paid out, they have not been great about fixing what was wrong or not done at all. We've had water enter the house, large sections of roof fall off, gutters installed incorrectly, and I am still missing flashing a year later. Totally disappointed. read more

After the 2018 softball size hail hit our home in the Broadmoor area of Colorado Springs, we chose Formula Roofing/Custom Tile Roofing out of Denver to replace our tile roof and were so pleased with the results. Joe Miller, who came out and gave us the initial bid, was a former insurance adjuster and as a result, dealt expertly with our insurance company getting us substantially more money that we initially received. Tony, the foreman was so kind, interactive and accommodating, I felt totally comfortable with the project! Elbert, the Colorado Springs based project manager, was uber professional and polite. The only drawback was, b/c they were based in Denver, they were not able to manage and subcontract out the other repairs (stucco, painting, electrical) for us, but they were up front about this from the beginning and did make some local recommendations. We worked with formula roofing last year to fix our roof after a few bad hail events. The contractor Ryan was great in working with the insurance adjuster and in getting the roof repaired quickly. The problem started when we got a notice from the City inspector that a few things needed to be fixed before approval in February. There was a ton of back and forth communication lasting over two months before formula roofing came back to fix the few repairs needed for approval. Then the communication to issue payment also was extended beyond a reasonable timeline because the PM kept cancelling when he was coming over. Finally, in October, I suppose because the books are due, we are final closing the payment process. The work formula did was great, but it has been unnecessarily painful to close the order. read more

I attempted to work with Formula Roofing based on the great yelp reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was wholly disappointing. I initially reached out to them mid September so I could get a quote to pass along to the HOA of the building. Numerous excuses and unanswered messages later within a 5 week time frame, I never got the inspection paperwork. I was working with Miles and had to constantly follow up, request, and essentially beg him to get the paperwork to me so I could move forward with my HOA. Eventually I just gave up. I will not recommend them as they are not efficient or responsive in any way. read more
