Doctor Vidal is one of the hospitalist providers here at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. I am under his care for varacise vains in my esophagus and I've had them banded a few times. The bands rubbed ulcers on the walls of my esophagus which is very painful. With that being said all he will give me for pain is 650 mg of tylenol which gives me very little pain relief. I've asked for better pain medicine and he has either not responded to my request and has been very rude to me all 3 times he has visited my room. I plan on finding out who is over him and writing a report. read more

My Sister was in Forsyth Memorial Hospital late last month for several days in the Neuro ICU. She feels like the care she was given was adequate, but I was not kept informed of her condition. They told me they'd call me daily, but didn't. When I called, I was told someone would have to call me back. They never did. That was 3 times the 2nd day there. I called back a 4th time. I was askef if I could call back in an hour, I said I'd called 3 times already and noone called me back, so I wanted an update. She hung up me. When I tried calling again, it went straight to a recording that my call would be transferred, but it hung up. I finally reached a nurse that cared around 10 pm that gave me an update and let me talk to her. Went through the same BS the next 2 days until my Sister was able to answer the phone herself. I understand they are very busy, but their patients have family that cares about them and deserve an update. Give one and they'll stop calling. It's never ok for a business to hang up on someone! read more

2023 04 April, 10:15. Winston Salem NC Parking - 1 arrive very early! Parking is in an overcrowded ramp which is located so far from admission that getting to it is practically a physical fitness event. Not suitable for disabled people who need this facility. Location - 4 the hospital is easy to find. Getting Around - 1 Good signage on their premises is scarce. I wonder if there is some poor person forever roaming, trying to find the way out. Customer Service - 4 with the exception of billing department, today, staff was kind and helpful. Pricing - 2 medical is always expensive. Make sure to check your billing. Restrooms - 3 clean and well stock if you can find one. Go before you leave home. Having come from another state 8 years ago, i have found medical facilities in NC a surprise. Vast difference. Went to this hospital October 15th was treated and released went back October 16th for the same symptoms sat in the lobby for 3 and a half hours, went and asked the nurse how many patients were in front of me they said 2 , 45 minutes later went back to ask the nurse how many patients are in front of me , and the nurse said they couldn't tell me , and they took patients back after I was checked in , now it's 4 hours later and still didn't get to see the doctors , all I can say is this hospital has rude nurses read more

If I could give negative stars I would. From my own experiences and my spouse as well. I went to the emergency room last year and sat in the waiting room for hours before getting to me, though it wasn't busy. By the time they came out, they rushed me through and sent me home not really even telling me what was wrong. I got a bill from them for $5600. Recently, my spouse was encountering frightening depression after recovering from covid. We went to the emergency room to prevent something bad from happening. They got us in immediately and took blood, urine samples, blood pressure, etc. a lady came in asking a battery of questions regarding depression and suicidal thoughts. They checked my spouse into a rehabilitation unit for psychiatric help. Now, 2 days later, still sitting in a room with no tv or window, the only thing that happened is a group session about drug addiction. I don't see how this is a relevant treatment process. The people there are rude and disrespectful through the initial check in. They obviously don't care about anything. If I could give ZERO I would ! For starters they killed my grandma in 08' and admitted to it. They gave her pain medications that didn't go together. They almost let my mom bleed to death due to a ER drs stupidity of not knowing the difference in a arterial and central line. But I was quickly told by a lawyer unless she gets a disability it's not malpractice only maybe get his license taken. This place let me go septic from a uti. I was told my urine was clear and I sprained a muscle in my back and two days later ended up at Baptist and spent over a week in the hospital due to their stupidity once again. Baptist clearly said no way my urine was clear 2 days prior. My advice stay FAR FAR away. read more

I had outpatient surgery this week. It was extremely busy. As i was waiting my turn A doctor Vogler came in and started fussing at the nurses in the prep area. i could not understand him because he had his mask on. These nurses were working as hard as they could. If the Dr is going to fuss at someone it should be done in private. not in front of other patients. From what i could understand the nurse followed proper protocol in her situation. Like i say the prep room was really crowded. I hope that Dr. went back and apologized that was totally uncalled for. I recently had a 15 hour long thoracic and lumbar surgery by Dr. Chase Bennett, an orthopedic surgeon. He is a gentleman and a great bedside personality. He explained everything in easy to understand terms. His specialty skills are in demand because he is great at what he does. I was totally pleased with him. Also, the hospital staff was excellent to me and the food was delicious each meal. For 2.5 weeks I was in the hospital after the surgery and I am cured from my pain problem I had before the surgery. read more

My first time coming to this hospital and I can honestly say this will be my last time. The only polite staff that I've encountered thus far was the lady that checked me in the emergency department. Not only have I been here for hours, the fact that I'm a new patient I thought proper protocol was to ask questions of medical history, meds administered etc. well I was given something in my I.V without anyone even asking if/what medications I take. Then I was asked to remove my clothes and put on a gown only to be moved into the hallway half naked. The professionalism is at a low. The welcoming feeling especially when you're sick or hurting and more than likely scared, doesn't exist. Also let me say that you definitely feel dirty and like germs are everywhere in here. I went to Clemmons Hospital and they could not do anything for me. They put a tube down my nose then did a procedure on my neck that took 30 minutes . then I was transported to Forsyth Hospial ICU Today the 13th of July I went to Clemmons urgent care and was told they couldn't do anything for me. My foot is swollen is the reason I went. The Dr us Thai, PA-C said the facility was not equipped to help me. I'm not a happy camper. read more

Fantastic experience here as a family member for a patient, very compassionate during a tough situation

This don't even deserve a star. My 85 year old mother was seen there last night 24 Jan .she was in Dr at 3:30 and DC at 8:07. She has an infection in her legs. We didn't know she was there she forgot her cell phone. So at around 10:30 my daughter found out and called me and I went and got her. She was stuck in a hallway out of the way with her legs dangling from 8:07 until I got there at 11pm. Her legs were red and swollen and really should have been admitted . and I went back to get her none showed me how to use them new chairs or offered to help get in the car...so ya I am very pissed. 3 hours she sat there like that and they didn't even put her feet on the things the set on...they was just dangling .no blanket.just her gown and all paper work hanging over her.and worse part they were not even that busy.... read more

My boyfriend was taken by ambulance from a customers house to this hospital for work related back injury, he is 62 , once there he was placed in a wheelchair and parked in the waiting room for 4 hrs he could hardly walk and was in a lot of pain, he had to make his way to the bathroom by himself using the wall and chairs for support. I finally had to call and ask what was going on there and was told a shift change, I said a 4 hr shift change. he had not had vitals checked or anything, they finally did get him back take an x-ray told him it was a pulled muscle , gave him flexiril, prednisone, and parked him on the side walk along at 10:30 at night till I could pick him up!! NO LIE!!! WtH. the next day his right leg was numb , his right foot was would not move and it went down hill from there, finally got him to Baptist where he had emergency surgery and there my be perment damage due to lack of immediate care. So my advise is to avoid this hospital emergency room at all cost. read more

My sister went in for a procedure from the doctors office. She had an infection and fever of 103. They cut her cleaned it then released her. They did not give her a prescription for pain and no antibiotics. It is ashamed that a sick patient has to ask the doctor who did the procedure to call her doctors office to get prescriptions. Then they just rolled her in a wheel chair after her surgery with her 103 fever out side and left her they went back inside. The temperature outside was low 40. I live out of town which Is a good thing for them cause i would of showed my ass and be toss out of there. What right did they have to treat her this way. They took an oath when they became doctors and nurses to care and have compassion. If they hate their jobs and sick people they need to seek something and get out of this job read more

Definatly will not be going back to this ER. We were at this hospital from 7:30pm until 2am the next day just to be told that nothing was wrong (when in fact there was). We waited 2-3 hours to get taken back into the ER to get looked at. It took forever for the doctor to even come into our room once we were back. My boyfriend had nausea and kidney pain. She check for an infection and stone and came in to tell us it was just muscle pain. 2 days later, we go to the ER again in Clemmons due to worsening symptoms. Thank god that doctor actually spent time with him and came to find out he was having kidney failure. I understand that the doctors in the ER probably get a lot of patients coming in just wanting the "drugs" but personally I think this was ridiculous. All she had to do was look a bit harder into his labs. The experience here is always horrible but this time really takes the cake. I checked online for hospital wait times cause my fiance it's absolutely miserable. She has been sick for at least a week and a half and can barely drag herself out of bed. So I decided to go to Forsyth cuz their wait time was the shortest it said 26 minutes, three and a half hours later she's still waiting in the waiting room as me and my daughter continue to worry. They say they update their wait time every 5 minutes but that is absolute bull crap. I called up there to ask them about this and they had no answer for me and no reason why the wait time is so off. The emergency room is a joke. I went there with severe eye swelling and pain. They took me right back to do blood pressure and check in. Then after waiting two hours I asked what the wait time was and they said at least seven hours. There were only four other people in the waiting room and nobody was called back while I was there. I left and went to Clemmons Medical Center and got right in. Low and behold I get a $240 bill from Forsyth. I am literally be robbed. This is the same to me as getting held up on the street. Money hungry jerks will never see me again. I'll die on my couch before I give them another cent. Go to Baptist. read more

My late wife checked into this hospital th rough the emergency department for voluntary detox of a controlled substance prescription She stayed three days in the detox department and was discharged. The detox dept. Pay chiat rest evaluated her to be at extreme risk of accidental overdose for the prescription men's that she was there to detox off. Less than 3 weeks later she presented to the same emergency department for a chronic pain condition. The emergency department on staff doctor gave her an injection of the same prescription med she had just detox ed from, and sent her home with 2 1/2 day supply prescription of the same med without checking her records or checking the state and federal registry for controlled substance abusers. She overdosed on the med less than 1 hours after receiving the prescription from the emergency department physician. Also, the medical examiner at forsyth memorial hospital released her body to someone other than Myself ( I was her legal next of kin) which caused me all kinds of additional emotional pain. In addition, the hospital refused to communicate with me and referred me to they're Risk Department.. read more
