Then we sit and wait 20mins after putting our name on the list just to be sure of no changes. Then 1 hour later get called back all for the nurse to leave my uncle in the restroom alone for 10 min to pee in a cup he couldn't get open. And they sitting in there having a good laugh about someone else falling in the toilet. Just flat out rude. WORST AS THE ER in DANVILLE VA

And you'd get better odds buying a lottery ticket than having your call returned. And half the time when you get a person they transfer you to someone else whose answering machine says to leave a message. Or the person you're talking to doesn't know how to use the system to schedule an appointment. It took me 3 weeks to get someone to set up an appointment. Not to see someone but to get them to schedule an appointment. An extra 2 weeks to get my medical records from another doctor and the provider I saw had no idea why they said I needed those since I've been a patient there for about 30 years. They have someone answering the phone for their various offices and it just goes downhill from there. These are problems that have only started in the past few years. And each person says they are following procedures. Well, I hope their medical procedures are better than their business procedures. If not the patients don't stand a chance. I'm now into the third month of the problem I needed to be seen for and it's only worse as they are waiting on tests the past 3 weeks. At that time I was told I didn't have an infection but put on antibiotics anyway. I ended up in the emergency room after getting much worse and was told I do have an infection and put on different antibiotics and can't get through to a person to update the provider. Because the person who answers the phone says their procedure says I can only talk to the nurse and the nurse isn't answering the phone so they can only leave a message for her to call me. This is the third time in a row I've gone through problems like this there. One time I had a kidney stone and the person I finally got to talk to wanted me to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. When I said the ER had given me 2 days of pain meds they said maybe I could stretch it out. This place has gone to the dogs. I trust the skill of the doctors but their business skills suck. With her 17 years experience as a surgeon, she is obviously overqualified for this operation. Nevertheless she was superb. Absolutely great. No problems at all either during the operation or afterwards. Her bedside manner is wonderful: Frank & kind. I have no problem recommending her for any operation for which she feels qualified.

Dr. Kellam said she could repair the hernia and also she also said since she was doing a hernia repair, she could remove the excess skin from my stomach, and my insurance would cover it due to the hernia repair. I regret I had that done. I woke up to the absolute worst pain and no navel button. Recover took a very long time, I could not stand up straight because I would feel like something was pinching my incision area(which was from nearly the middle of my back on one side to nearly the middle of my back on the other side. I was well over 6 months into recovery with this same pain. I began to develop back issues so I wanted the area looked at. I call Goco Surgical to get an appointment with her and they would not schedule me for an appointment, I was trying to explain my complications and they just over talked me and told me she can not see me and suggested I go to Baptist. I was like Baptist did not do any of these surgeries, they would not even let me speak with her. I tried reaching out to her several times with no luck. I eventually went to Baptist and that doctor wanted to just reverse the gastric bypass because he said a lot of Dr. Kellam patients had complications after their surgery with her. But my complications came after the second surgery. So I declined the reversal. But now we're in 2026 and I find out my pain that has had me walking with a hunch in my back was the problem. Dr. Kellam stapled my incision back together the wrong way the skin was pulled down too far and the awful pinching was the from the inside the incision were the skin was growing back together. I still live in pain along with other complications, and it seems life has just gone on for Dr. Kellam. But to deny seeing me after the work she did was VERY, VERY, unprofessional. I have now spent 19 years being disabled. And I would advise anyone thinking about surgery with any doctor, DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THAT DOCTOR!!!! I would never recommend this doctor!
