However, I've never heard of paying to use a dog park. Especially not one as simple as this. Had a Park Ranger tell us we weren't allowed to use it unless we had proof of membership. Then proceeded to tell us we're allowed to roam the actual park surrounding it no problem. Seemed a bit contradictory. If you wish to visit be aware of the membership. If you pay for the membership, I'd advise you'd put the money towards improving the dog park making it worth a membership.

Parking is just beyond and plentiful. The park offers trails, fishing and boating as well as the separate dog park. Restrooms are located at the trail head by the water. They were extremely dated and no soap in the men's room. There is a water refilling station which is a bonus. I came to hike and there are options on length. There is a 2.9 mile trail, Lookout Tower. You can add two + which is did for a total hike of 5.75. The trail was overall easy with some elevation changes. The challenges were the tree roots. Some of path is nice along the water. Other parts are paved along the road.

Last month, I joined a friend of mine for a morning stroll. Let's see how the visit turned out. I met my friend outside of the information center on an early Saturday morning. The weather was cold but not to where walking was impossible. The path we took, Wetlands, was pretty good and mostly dry. It's the main one we take everytime I visit. I was surprised there weren't other people out and about since it had sunshine, but it was cold and breezy. Just the way a nice trail should be on a Saturday morning. Overall, a pretty good time to get some exercise in. This park is one which will continue to be one of my favorites. Till next time :)

It is very small, it seems nobody picks up after their dog, and there is no water access so remember to bring some! The dogs aren't allowed in the inside part of the restaurant. The restaurant has hot dogs, sausages, Mac n cheese, burgers, tacos, and etc. The meals are reasonably priced. The hot dogs are thick, so your not getting a wimpy hot dog, it's meaty!! Lol. It might have been too much meat for me almost. You definitely get your money's worth!! The Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy, and the portion was great for the price. The fries we ok also. The area is really a vibe. It's chill and everyone is doing their own thing. They even have pup cups!! The dogs all seemed to be having a good time. When you walk in the smell of dogs hits you, but I don't have a dog so maybe that's why it's so strong. If you have a dog you probably won't even notice. Once I got used to that, it was fine. I think this is a fun little place to come wether you have a dog or not. Beer and alcohol are also served. We took the map and went to each site, read the plaques and paid our respect to those lost. The weather was perfect and everything was clearly labeled and well taken care of. We did however make the best of walking around the site and taking in all of the history we could on the grounds. We also observed a ceremony that was going on when we arrived at the Victory Monument and viewed various artillery pieces on the grounds. The town of Yorktown has lots of historic buildings and things to see and do. We enjoyed walking around and taking the trolley around this beautiful village.

The library also has a children's area that little ones will love. The park is a must see if in the area.

Although I disagree with some of the messaging, it did not negatively impact my visit.

It's always clean, well-maintained, and has a few toys out for the pups to enjoy. Another plus is that it's not usually overcrowded, which makes it much more relaxing for both dogs and owners. The surrounding neighborhood is gorgeous (and honestly, I'd love to live there if it were in my budget!).
