This was a good spot to stay in Santa Fe! Beautiful spot right by the nearby mountains! Very close to downtown only a 10 minute walk. They have multiple condos here but they are always repairing them. The first condo we stayed in had no water but thankfully they upgraded us! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed staying here! I would make sure to lock your stuff up at night because I had a backpack stolen out of my trunk that had over 200$ worth of things. So overall I would recommend if you are budgeting a stay in Santa Fe. The WiFi is also very spotty but you can't blame them because it is a massive complex, they could fix it but I just feel it's lazy. Some of the units are quite dated. I just feel like they don't put forth much effort to make this the best spot to stay in Santa Fe. read more

It's not only that Fort Marcy doesn't recycle, I was told by an employee that I should take our Sunday paper,cans, and container to the recycling location. I was also laughed at when I told him the clock in our room was broken. There were also other minor things that were annoying. The ice maker not turned on, no mid week service (we stayed 6 nights and didn't realize we had to request it), no extra soap in the cabinet as promised, and a silverfish in the bathroom. For what we spent per night at Fort Marcy we expect minor services. By the time our 5th day at the hotel rolled around we remembered that we specifically requested a room with a patio or a balcony. Think of a vacation where you have the option of having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in privacy but also being able to enjoy the scenery. Our room over looked the parking lot and being at ground level in a public area, we had to keep the blinds closed. Probably our only trip to Santa Fe. If we go back it certainly won't be to Fort Marcy Hotel. read more

Fort Marcy was perfect for our large group of 14 visiting Santa Fe for a few days. Located just four blocks from the Plaza, the condos (one, two and three bedrooms) are spread out across twelve adobe buildings. The complex sits atop a hill, near the original Fort Marcy, so walking back from downtown is a little bit of a hike up. Each unit has a full kitchen, dining area, fireplace and private balcony or patio. Since the condos are individually owned, the decoration varies and some might look better than others. After comparing two 3 bedrooms condos, I would recommend renting a "premium suite" rather than a regular one. For little extra money the premium suite seemed bigger and the decoration much nicer. The staff was very friendly and overall the price seems reasonable. I definitely would go back when in Santa Fe! read more

BUYER BEWARE: This place engages in false advertising / bait-and-switch tactics which are, quite frankly, illegal under FTC laws. In fact, I may be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau. We booked a "Standard Queen Suite with Patio" room on Hotels.com -- and there are a few strange/stressful things even with booking and check-in: (1) You have to pay a deposit, but then there is a second payment due before you arrive, without an easy way to tell if it went through or not. (2) They want you to check in at EXACTLY 4 pm. Not starting at 4 pm... no, they said show up at 4, and maybe they would still be there at 5 (but there is supposedly a self-check kiosk.) They also did not put a bottle of wine in our room, as was part of my deal through Hotels.com. When I went to ask about this, they pointed fingers at each other and made excuses, but it seems pretty apparent now that they were just being cheap and hoping I wouldn't notice or care... just like the fact that they did NOT give me the type of room that I booked and had already paid for. And that is where the big problem lies. I booked this place SPECIFICALLY because each standard unit comes with a patio (the bigger two-story units come with balcony instead.) And this is what exactly what was listed and described when I booked on Hotels.com. But it's not what they gave us. They gave us room 100- which is not even in any of their main buildings, but instead is a corner of their brick office building. Rooms 99 and 100 seem to have been custom-made for this bait-and-switch practice. They do not have patios. They have dark, dungeon-like interiors with views of the parking lot. When I raised this issue at the office (as soon as we saw the room, and that I had booked a room with a patio, they all looked at each other with nervous, guilty expressions... then offered me another $8 bottle of wine to make up for it. No, no that does not make up for it. Where shall I even drink that wine... on the couch in the dark living room? Depressing. (We had envisioned sipping our wine outside on a -- you guessed it -- patio.) Then they said "Oh, the listing should have said not ALL of our units have a patio. Maybe that was in the fine print." Well, it isn't, and the listing said no such thing. In fact, it SPECIFICALLY said it included a patio. And I would have looked at other places if truthful advertising had been used. Our condo was mediocre, a bit old and worn, not very well maintained. This was not a top-notch place to stay. But our main reason for the low rating is guest service. My wife and I got food poisoning after eating out our first night in Santa Fe - not Fort Marcy's fault, of course, but two days later, when I was in the hospital with acute kidney failure and couldn't leave the hospital bed, my wife called to ask for some grace on checkout. The hotel staff was unhelpful and unsympathetic. She had to return to the condo alone, pack all our stuff and load it in the car. Fort Marcy's staff refused to accommodate by allowing extra time or even extending our stay on a paid basis. We felt they should have been gracious to guests in the midst of a medical emergency. read more

Got this room because the fire place they speak about on the website, come to find out you have to pay $20 a bundle we got in our room in the evening and it was to late because apparently they keep it in the front office, but don't let you know it's not part of the $300 package I guess. Pretty much the only reason we got the room. Old small TVs with basic cable old dvd player that doesn't play blue-rays .. pretty much no movie options .. pretty disappointing was definitely looking forward to staying here. read more

My family stayed over at the Fort Marcy Suites this past week and I must say we were extremely unsatisfied with the establishment. Condo # 6 seems to be "water-challenged" as we could only get half a tub of warm water before it turned cold and stayed cold. And the next morning no one could shower for the same reason. I've never encountered this before in an establishment. In addition, we were told the pool facilities close at 6:45 pm, which is preposterous! Most people are still either shopping in the square or out to dinner about that time... no one is thinking about a hot tub until maybe 8 or 9pm! That's like scheduling dinner to stop serving at 4pm. I was told that the HOA was responsible for this ridiculous policy and then quoted various reasons why they came to this decision. WHATEVER the reasons they think are credible, they're not. They are totally out of touch with their clientele. And will not enlist any return patrons with this absurd time window for the pool... and that's provided the hot tub was even working, which it was not... it had yellow caution tape around it! read more

We enjoyed our stay ! Unit was very clean and perfect for three adults. We were a little delayed at check in , but the location and cleanliness of the unit made of for that minor inconvenience. It's time to rate this place! Let's be honest and stay on the fact that this place is not a real hotel type place, so please adjust your expectations as you are about to pay pretty much the same amount as you may end up at a 4-star hotel! We arrived after check-in hours, as I was expecting, and they were totally aware of this. Despite all the easy check-in instructions, we ended up having a nightmare checking in our room after a 15-hour road trip with two senior citizens with us. We followed all the instructions provided, but unfortunately, there was a screen asking for a pin that we did not have. It was like you wanted to log in to your computer but did not have your password. We tried to reach out to someone to assist, but the person who picked up the phone was absolutely rude and irresponsible, and she added to our frustration rather than assisting us. I think she mentioned that she was somewhere in Utah. I am not sure, and I really don't care! I think we were waiting for at least half an hour until someone came and provided us with a key! What a night, and what a welcome! Let's go back to the room and make it clear to all that this place is nothing more than a low- to medium-quality Airbnb, so as I said previously, be sure to adjust your expectations. The AC system was pretty loud when it was kicking on, and the dryer machine was even louder. This was for the room in which we were staying. Yours might be even worse, or maybe better. I am pretty sure that I will never try this place again, as I can find a much better place to stay at the same price in the heart of historic downtown Santa Fe. I forgot to say that despite their promise to refund me for the hard time they gave me, I have never received any money back! Such a bad place, and what a bad experience! read more

We had an amazing unit, 2B 2.5BA with a great city view, tasteful and comfortable furnishings. Gabbi at the front desk was very helpful, she even let us store our food in their fridge until our unit was ready for us since we arrived a bit early. The A/C worked really well which was essential since we managed to show up in town for an abnormal heat wave. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great, and I loved the balcony - I spent a lot of time there every morning and evening. What I did NOT love was the crappy wi-fi. It was the one rain on our beautiful parade. I take working vacations and I could not always get my work done because the wifi was very slow and constantly cutting out completely for several minutes. I ended up going to a bunch of coffee shops to get work done. We got a premium condo on a last minute deal and it was $170/night plus tax, which was a steal for such a great condo. I would actually consider buying one of these condos when I can move to Santa Fe if I could get my own dedicated internet connection, but if I had to use the crappy wifi that they have there -- no deal. Also - be aware that these condos are NOT ADA compliant. There are stairs all over the place and no ramps or elevators, so if you use a wheelchair you would be totally out of luck. If you just don't like stairs it also isn't the greatest option for you. It may be a bit of a hike from the parking lot to your unit depending on which you get. I didn't mind much but if I had mobility challenges it would have been problematic. read more

I booked Fort Marcy for Indian Market early in the year, then Covid hit. The hotel has refused to allow me to cancel my reservation despite multiple requests. This is despite New Mexico's border restrictions (if entering the state, one must self quarantine for two weeks). Indian Market of course is also cancelled, now virtual. This is unacceptable behavior for a hospitality business. Eventually the restrictions will end and the state will reopen. I will never bring my business to this hotel. read more

A few friends and I booked a one-bedroom condo for one-night stay. We confirmed before we arrived that the condo would have two beds, as there were four of us. When we arrived we learned that one of the beds was a fold-out couch, which is already a pretty terrible thing to sleep on, and to add insult to back pain, there were no sheets in the condo for the fold-out bed. It had an ill-fitting mattress pad and nothing else. When we called the front desk to ask about sheets for the fold-out, the woman on duty told me there was nothing we could do. So we had four people and one bed with linens. I don't recommend staying here, as the staff does not offer good service. read more

As previous reviewers have mentioned, Fort Marcy is not a hotel. It is individually owned condos that caters to families and groups who want the privacy of renting a fully equipped place for few days. There's no housekeeping, no breakfast, or a concierge that will assist/guide you through your stay. However, as we have been to Santa Fe several times, this was not an issue for us, and neither did the lack of hotel-like amenities. But what bothered us was the front desk staff and manager who seriously lacked sense of customer service. I'd called few weeks before we'd arrived to book a specific condo, which was recommended by a Trip Advisor reviewer. I spoke to Jason, the front desk manager who'd assured me that we would be able have the requested condo. However, when we arrived at the property, the front desk clerk told us that there was no such request on my reservation, and as there were only 2 condos left, we didn't have much of a choice. The condo we'd stayed in was nice enough, but it had only 2 bathrooms versus 2 1/2 as in the condo I'd requested. And as there were 5 people in our group, having the extra 1/2 bathroom would have been nice. Even during our stay and afterwards when we had questions about our bill, I was disappointed how unfriendly and unhelpful the staff was in resolving the matter. read more

Our stay was quite a disappointment, and the condo was the low point in our whole Santa Fe trip. The rooms had not been cleaned well (dirty carpets, even a fake eyelash on the floor). I asked the front desk to have the room cleaned, and nobody came for the 2 days we were there. The blankets had holes, one white towel had brown stains, the extra pillowcases weren't clean; it just did not give a good overall feeling of cleanliness to invite a pleasant stay. Our first night the heat went off by itself downstairs, at 4AM when I checked it had dropped by 10 degrees. Definitely would not stay here again and would not recommend to anybody. read more

As so many others have already staded- DO NOT COUNT ON INTERNET. Every time I indicated that I was unable to connect, the front desk acted surprised. They offered to have me meet with IT in the room to show them the problem. At check-in on a Friday, we were told the would be a mid-week clean since we were going to be there for more that a week. We had to call and the indicated that it would be done the next day. This was the day before check-out. They did not show as they said they would so I decided to make the bed with the extra sheets in the closet. Upon examination, I found twin sheets not king. There was only a king bed in the unit. The space is barely adequate and smelled quite stale at check in. It took nearly three days of airing the space out for the smell to go away. There are much nicer places to stay that aren't a lot more expensive. Look around before you book! That's my 2 cents. read more

The hotel suites are perfectly suited for traveling FAMILIES. If you're going as a group, this is the place to stay. It's like a home-away-from-home. Roaches in an expensive hotel. Woah! We tried to light a fire with the $10 fire bundle. The chimney was clogged and no one would answer us at the front desk. When I found a roach in the bathroom I trapped it in a glass. THE FRONT DESK ACCUSED ME OF PLANTING IT. They blamed me for their problems. The rooms were dirty and had a view of the Air conditioner for the next unit. The complimentary breakfast consisted of juice and coffee. I tried to contact the company website, but have not heard from anyone. The email to the person in charge has already resigned and moved on and her replacement email also bounced back!! Summer 2015 - 6 day stay Our room had a noisy refrigerator that would knock in the middle of the night. Bad pillows. Shabby bedding. Stove burner didn't work. Wi-fi slow to non-existent. Other guests would leave garbage near the street. The positives: Room was clean and close to the downtown. The staff was friendly. If you're okay with motel quality, this is fine. But price-wise, I would have moved a little further away for a better night sleep on our vacation or remembered to bring our own pillow, a fan for white noise, and/or earplugs. read more

I liked the fact that it has everything you'd need to cook, although we didn't really need to since Santa Fe has so many awesome restaurants. It had basic cable and the condo was 2 stories, so there was plenty of room to spread out. No critters, as far as I encountered. Yikes- that's too bad that it happened to someone else. I liked the proximity to the downtown area and to Ten Thousand Waves. I'm sure there are probably nicer places to stay in Santa Fe, but it fit our sensibilities for a foodie & relaxing weekend getaway. read more

We recently had our wedding here, so this review is one part for the venue, one part for the room: The biggest thing that made our experience great was the staff--Luis, Natalie, Brenda, and Ella were fabulous to work with. Brenda in particular handled my general confusions very well and went above and beyond (even staying late) to make sure we had a good experience. Really fantastic people and great price for the space. We were able to begin set up abt 3 days before the event too, which was so so helpful, and all the maintenance staff and cleaners were really on top of things. Highly recommend the event space! The rooms are fantastic for the price, and our guests really enjoyed their space. One thing to know is that I think it's difficult for Fort Marcy to keep rooms all grouped together, so it can be kind of a hike to see one another, but we got used to it really fast and I enjoyed the adventure of it. There's always plenty of parking and the size of the rooms really impresses! Thank you again Fort Marcy staff; we had an excellent experience! read more

The problem with this place is getting what you're promised. It's a nice place but if you're not getting what you're expecting it changes the whole experience. I really liked the inside of our room. We did the upgraded room and it did not disappoint. If you had just sat me down in that room with no expectations I would have given the place 4 stars. But the website promises a city or mountain view. Our patio and windows looked dead onto a cement retaining wall. What a let down. When we paid for the upgraded room we were told they couldn't guarantee it would have a fireplace. We knew that going in but I think that's a poor way to run a business. There were problems during the booking procedure that I won't go into but I will say if you experience problems it's not going to be handled smoothly. This hotel is owned by a company out of state and what that company says is policy and what the hotel says is policy are too vastly different things. read more

Great view and location. The downtown plaza is a 10 minute walk from here and you get a great view of the mountains. Nice decor too. Our unit had a kitchen which was fully stocked with cooking ware and utensils. However, we had problems with our room. First, the whole place had a strong odor similar to beef jerky that would not go away no matter what we tried. Of the two bathrooms in our unit, only one had a working toilet. As soon as we arrived, the toilet had already been clogged which was very strange. Also, it's important to note that maid service is not free unless you are staying for 6 days or more. I'm surprised at the relatively low ratings this hotel/suites/condo (or whatever) is getting. We couldn't find reservations 10 days ago at our usual haunts so we booked two units here. I get it, they're somewhat old. The desk person (who checked us in efficiently and friendly) said they were built around 1971. So yea, there are issues from age; dated furnishings, loud a/c, sketchy internet, yada yada. But, as far as us and our travelling companions were concerned, any negatives were far outweighed by the positives. Full kitchen, two quiet bedrooms with comfortable beds (an extra pillow on the king would have been nice), large towels, comfy couch and chairs, 2 full sized baths, great location a few blocks north of the square, a great historic walking park next to the compound, 2 HD tvs, yada, yada, yada, yada..All in all, a solid 2 thumbs up. read more

For my birthday this year I asked my husband for a road trip to New Mexico. On March 31, we hit the road. I had struggled with booking lodging in Santa Fe, finding that hotels tended to fall into one of two categories: luxurious, fully bedazzled spa-hotels with all the bells and whistles (raw silk linens hand-embroidered by blind, one-handed orphan-nuns), all of which were completely beyond our means, or tragic budget motels with great buzzing neon signs, in the shadow of which hunch a few meager, threadbare hovels with thriving insect populations and sandpaper towels. Fort Marcy and its ilk fall squarely in the middle; in fact, there's a whole realm of middle class hotels that are neither snooty nor dumpy, neither posh nor projects, and that are really good (but not great). Being neither impoverished nor wealth, Fort Marcy was a good match for my budget, so I booked it. $70 a night for a one bedroom KIng condo/suite with a private fireplace. Despite all the research and the laborious scrutiny I gave to each potential lodging choice and to the Compound in particular, there were few photos of the complex and I was slightly nervous when we reached Santa Fe. 'What if it's horrid? What if it's overrun with roaches and bedbugs? What if it sucks big donkey dick?' I worried and worried and worried some more, and since GT, my husband, seemed blissfully unencumbered, I worried for him, too. Nothing prepared me for the gorgeous and euphoric ascent towards Fort Marcy, nor for the bubbling-over glee I felt when we checked in and reviewed our sweet one-bedroom condo with a gorgeous fireplace and living room. Sadly, I forgot to snap photos of the condo we selected from the three that were available when we checked in, but take my word for it (scout's honor, swear to dog, etc. etc.): there can't be a better deal, a more perfect setting or backdrop, or a more perfect lodging option for the budget-conscious traveler than Fort Marcy, and I'd stay here again in an instant. So, the nitty gritty: Fort Marcy, consisting of several clusters of adobe condominiums, is settled atop one of the, if not the highest points in Santa Fe, and beside Hillside Park, a beautiful stretch of unaltered landscape into which many joggers, dogs and their people, and spry elderly pedestrians disappear daily. They also reappear, of course. It's not the bermuda triangle or anything. The Compound is near enough to the downtown Plaza and to prominent museums, restaurants, bars, shops, and art galleries to please the snootiest of ambulatory tourists. Fort Marcy also provides a complimentary shuttle service to the tourist areas during the peak tourist season. Though the condos are clustered together they're also offset, so each cluster (consisting of about 10 units) only faces one or two 10-unit cluster(s). This yields more privacy and less noise. Really, it's the best of both worlds, being within stumbling distance of a host of local bars, but being remote enough to forget that they and their patrons exist, at least until you need them. I didn't hear a peep from our neighbors during our stay, though it was 100% booked. I'm certain that the likelihood of encountering a loud and obnoxious neighbor here is no more or less than the likelihood of encountering them in any other hotel in any other town. There was a can of RAID under the kitchen sink that I never had to use. I would have preferred not to see that, and though I'm docking them a star for not using more sustainable cleaning products, I did really appreciate the lack of bugs. Catch 22. The Main Office Building also houses the large indoor pool and hot tub, onsite coin laundry facility, and a little sundries alcove where you can purchase dish detergent, M&Ms, and the like. The southwestern-style condos have semi-private lanais, wood-burning kiva fireplaces, free wifi, and open floor plans, and there is ample free parking for each cluster. Sadly, *after* we had lugged all our crap inside our condo, I discovered the Queen Bed in the bedroom, which I swear looked like a Full (though the tag did read Queen). Regardless, my husband is 6' 3". He doesn't fit in a Queen. I had booked a King. When I called the front desk, the hostess said we'd have to wait a day to change units, so we sighed, took off all our clothes, and started napping. This is how we deal with stress and conflict in California: we get naked and take naps. Just as we started to drift off, the phone rang: the hostess had done some rearranging and had a new room for us. We packed everything back into the car, drove to the office, got the key (two keys, actually: there were two units), viewed both rooms....and decided we liked the first one best (#34). Naturally. After lugging all our crap BACK into the original unit, we took a nap in the Queen (full) bed and then pulled out the sofa and slept there, in front of the fire, for the duration of our stay. read more

The ONLY reason that this place got two stars is that the front desk help are cheery and try to be compassionate. On the other hand... The wi-fi is USELESS. Let me repeat that: useless. No, actually, it is actively destructive, because it gives you the impression of working, and then fails and fails and fails until you are forced to go 3G or 4G on some other device. Tech support makes Moe, Larry, and Curly look like Seal Team Six by comparison. The air conditioning is only about 8 dB quieter than a 737 spooling up for take-off, the pillows on the bed have been carved from local sandstone, and the bathroom has thoughtfully been appointed with a toilet reminiscent of the one found in the aforementioned 737, accompanied by some 60 grit sandpaper to complete the experience. You may need to have your mag strip room keys refreshed daily, as we did, because they may be rendered useless by proximity to "a cell phone, or credit cards, or any kind of electronic device" (as we were told by the front desk clerk), or it may be that the mag stripe reader in your lock is so filthy that it could no longer read even a new card (as was the case with ours). We've stayed here at least three times. Great units in a great location. Two bedrooms and 2.5 baths and a southwest styling. Nice outdoor area. They don't have daily cleaning, however, and there was only decaf coffee, so you may need to do some shopping. Glassware, wine opener, etc is provided. It can be difficult to find the location of your unit. Fort Marcy Park (across the street) is a great place to watch the sunset! read more

This place was okay. It was roomy. We had two floors, 2 1/2 baths, full kitchen, two bedrooms. Great to spread out. It was quite clean. If you stay more than six days you get housekeeping. It is very close to downtown so much is within walking distance...(uphill on the way back for those of you not accustomed to the elevation here... I live at Sea level! But you adapt!) Beds and furniture pretty uncomfortable. We got the place for half off. Would never pay full price for what we got. But at half off not bad. read more

My suite was depressing - torn rug, stained furniture, peeling paint, and lots of visible dust and dirt. It had a view of the parking lot. The shower took ten minutes to get warm (no steamy showers here). There was no coffee in the room (although I found a coffee maker). The worst thing is that the premises have no staff, not a single person, after 8:p. m. Should anything happen after that, you are out of luck. What if you deactivate your key and discover it late at night? You can wait, probably alone, in a little vestibule until the night manager arrives ("depending on where he is that evening"). And while they advertise a shuttle to town, just try to get it going back from town. I continually got voicemail. You need a car to stay here, or to take uber and cabs. This isn't a resort, it's a last resort. read more

The proximity to downtwn is the best thing about these hotel suites. The main square is within walking distance from the Fort Marcy Compound. The setup is a hybrid - half hotel, half rental from an owner. The place was spacious, comfortable and quiet at night. There is WiFi and the HVAC system worked great. One drawback was the sheets on my bed were not so clean, and there was no bar soap or shampoo like you'd get in a regular hotel, so plan accordingly. The location is great and having an on-site manager is a bonus. For the art district seeker or general traveler who likes to be in the middle of the action, this is a good place to stay in Santa Fe. read more
