Our room...

What an oasis! Clean, spacious, beautifully appointed rooms with lovely architectural elements and a Southwest artisan feel...at a reasonable price, no less. Gracious, respectful hosts take good care of you. Walk in the fragrant gardens buzzing with bees and hummingbirds, and relax to the sound of a delightful fountain... I wish their restaurant was still a part of the experience, but with luck, it will be again someday. An excellent stay in an unexpected place. A good base for adventures locally. Absolutely recommended!

When I found this place available I was skeptical at first, but when we got there I realized that the photos don't do this place justice! The suite was very spacious and beautiful! The garden is absolutely breathtaking! And the tub was enormous! I was very glad I wound up getting a room there!

Our room was beautiful! I have attached two pictures for you to view. The decor perfectly fits the area. I'm so glad we happened to find this gem. The only downside is the immediate area seems a little sketchy and the Mexican restaurant next door is not worth eating at, but this is a wonderful hotel and the employees are delightful.

Hidden gem in a town with not a lot of choices. Close to Los Alamos and Bandolier National Monument. Our rooms were the size of apartments, culturally and beautifully decorated. Main house where breakfast is served was filled with unique museum quality artifacts. And breakfast was amazing, your choice of burrito in the morning along with every continental breakfast need. Staff was extremely helpful, understanding, and full of information about the local area and history.

It was also convenient since it was partway between Santa Fe and Ojo Caliente Hot Springs which I both wanted to visit.

My wife and I celebrated our elopement at Casa Escondida earlier this month and it was everything…read morewe could have hoped for and more! We live in the area and wanted a small, simple, and special ceremony in this beautiful landscape that we love. I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon Casa Escondida's elopement packages through some late night googling. Ernesto helped to plan the perfect celebration for us and our 3 guests. I especially appreciated how open and considerate Ernesto was of us as a queer couple in the planning of the event. He didn't make any assumptions when it came to pronouns, flowers, or the names we would call each other as a married couple. He made sure to ask first which was so thoughtful and made us feel even more at ease and sure of our choice. It really was the most magical day and that is a huge thanks to Ernesto and his staff!

My friend took the queen bed in the main room while I slept on the comfortable day bed in the sitting room. Our room also had a kitchen area which we used to make some nighttime tea. In the morning we enjoyed breakfast in the main building. Coffee, juice, fruit bowl, and southwest quiche. It is no wonder Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast is often rated the number one bed and breakfast in Northern New Mexico. Personally, my only 'complaint' was we called in advance to ensure we could be on property early AND that there was reliable wifi as my friend needed to log on Zoom for tutoring. Unfortunately, the wifi was not reliable at all and Zooming was not a possibility. Hopefully it has since been resolved. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay in the Chimayo area, I recommend Casa Escondida!

Back again at the Hacienda with Viola, Ruth, and the wonderful staff. As has been pointed out both…read morepositively and negatively this is not the Ritz Carlton or even La Fonda Santa Fe. What it is, however, is authentic and true to its history and its location. No TV, no cell service (at least not if you have AT&T). Hardwood floors, viga ceilings, kiva fireplaces. The floorboards may squeak and the beds may too, but if you just will allow yourself to settle into the spirit of this place you will find some mighty fine relaxation. And for that you may need to spend a couple of nights (we always stay 5), visit the Santuario, enjoy the wonderful breakfasts delivered to your room on TV trays (muffin, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee/tea), and eat all meals across the road at Rancho de Chimayo. Rooms Uno, Seis, and Siete have outside balconies with small sitting areas, well worth the small extra expense if the weather allows you to enjoy them. Uno and Siete are on the road so if the sound of cars passing by affects your sleep, then opt for an interior room; we find the sound very comforting, somehow reassuring knowing that the working world keeps on moving while we're still comfortably tucked in. I hear a car or two around 6 or so and then promptly go right back to sleep. You will not meet nicer, more caring hosts anywhere. As an added benefit, prices are considerably less than Santa Fe, which is only 35 minutes away; we usually go into SF to spend the day on Mondays when Rancho de Chimayo is closed.

We decided…read moreto spend a weekend out of the big city and take that hour and a half drive to this tranquil place. We checked in and were given UNO as our room. Wait for it--- No TV, No phone and No wi-fi. You were lucky if you had a bar on your cell phone. It was exactly what we needed. Wood filled the box outside the room just waiting to be burned. The wood floors crept as you walked and the tiny refrigerator held snacks and beverages. We slept like babies and woke to fresh air and breakfast to order at Rancho de Chimayo across the street. This weekend left us well rested and grateful for the silence.
