It is a mirror image of the northbound stop, with log cabin looks outside, and restrooms and vending machines inside. Minimalist approach, but stuck in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Can't do better than this on the East Coast unless you are in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Note - The North area was already on Yelp as I passed through, and I did not think to add the South area until returning home. It is there now, and my comments for the North are equally applicable for the South. I stopped both coming and going. It is in North Hudson, NY. Can't explain how Yelp got it as Manhattan??

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 4 nights in a site for big rigs. Our site was green grass…read moreand wasn't level. All the sites located in the very front of the park were on grass by a pond, which meant no dust and not having to wash the coach or car after our stay. This park is located across the road from the lake which made for a beautiful view from our site. We were in the site closest to the front and the road, but traffic was minimal and we found it peaceful enough to sit outside and enjoy the sound of the pond frogs and the view. Too many large trees here for satellite reception. Almost the whole park (in the back) consists of long term residents but their sites were all clean and well kept. We enjoyed our stay but would have prefered staying in a level site.

Today, we rented a canoe from the Rancho Pines Campground office. It was a very quick walk to the…read moreoffice which is also a little store with things you may need while camping. You can rent mountain bikes, canoes, pedal carts, and inner tubes for little money. The nice owner was happy to explain that you should paddle up river as there you will find two little islands and the end of the northern portion of rapids. We grabbed four life jackets and two paddles. Short walk down the hill, picked up our canoe, and walked a little further down the hill to the launching area. It was an absolute beautiful canoe ride north with little resistance against the current. When we reached the two little islands, the kids and us ventured around and swam. We saw lots of birds, fish, and even turtles. We paddled to the rapids and walked around the rocks. So many trout and other fish. Water was a tad cold. It was such a great time. Paddle easily back with the current. Dragged the canoe back up the hill and returned the life jackets and paddles. The owner asked how our trip was and happy to hear the details. Next, we had a fire to cook our hotdogs and corn on the cob. Ate and read our books is the best weather ever. Then, we immediately jumped into the swimming pool for some more water fun. Everyone around here is so kind and happy. Highly recommend this for single, couple, and family camping fun. Peace and quiet with a little relaxing adventure thrown in.

When we were there we listened to and smelled the portable outhouses being cleaned for half an hour, then the fuel truck pulled up and was running until we left. And all this for 20 bucks. Its clear why no one was at this beach, while Branbury Beach was packed. We won't make this mistake again.

I paid a ridiculous amount of money in advance ( as I found out later) and then when I tried to call and verify they ware going to be there, they didn't pick up for an hour! so imagine this, I'm on a train to a place I don't know, a small town with no other transportation service, a young lady by herself and the ride I scheduled doesn't pick up the phone to verify thet are going to be there. I ended up finding someone else but they caused me a lot of unnecessary stress! Defiantly not recommended!!

The result is that, despite being right on Lake George, it's hard to actually, you know, swim. Swimming closed from 11:30-1:00 and then again from 5:30-7:00. Then the small shallow swimming area is open for one more hour, but then beautiful central beach is closed. And the one activity I really loved--spending $50 to be able to swim across the lake? Cancelled altogether. The cabin we rent just keeps getting more expensive & the "can't" rules just keep increasing. This year's most likely my last.

The rest rooms and showers are clean and easily accessible, however, the motion lights are only on for a couple of minutes, so you have to move around if you want the lights to stay on. Also, kinda weird, but one of the showers in the men's room is coin-operated, but not the other shower. Come to find out the coin thing doesn't work, but you wouldn't know that because there's no sign to say so. It was fine, though, because the other shower was working with no problems. The pool is EXCELLENT and well-maintained. You can see that the owner takes great care of the pool, and given that the weather was quite hot and humid, the pool was a godsend! On the minus side, the office was always locked when I went there. You can call the owner's number, but that gets to be a pain. They mention a camp store, but I suppose that's in the office, which, of course, was locked. I just went into Brandon to buy what I needed which is only three miles from the campground. The owner charges for each bag of trash which he says is one of his biggest expenses, but I don't know why he just doesn't simply bake in the cost of trash in his rate to camp there. The biggest pain was the dumping station. For whatever reason, the dumping station is roped off with posts in the way so I couldn't drive my camper close to dump my black and grey water. I didn't have a long enough hose to reach, so what I had to do is use my black/grey water portable tank to dump from the camper and then dump in the dumping station. This delayed our departure by a good 45 minutes to an hour. All in all, though, I would recommend Country View Campground.
