Look at this delicate, beautiful violin. How gorgeous! It is a wonderful work by Megan, 8-year-old daughter of Deana & Eric. She expressed the tunning pegs, bridge, fine tunner, f-hole, chin rest and bow perfectly. There is also a shoulder rest on the back of the violin. Very cute! :) My 2yr-old daughter loved this little clay violin, but she broke it a little. I am so sorry, Megan! My husband is a string player and we often visit Forte Strings and Eric and Deanna welcome us warmly whenever we go. My experience with Forte Strings started with getting a violin bow rehair quote through Yelp which Deana responded within minutes of requesting. I needed the bow back in a few days and Eric did a wonderful job rehairing the bow with such short notice. I also told him I was looking for my 4-year old daughter's first violin but he didn't have her size. After calling around several luthiers and being met with rude luthiers who wanted an arm in a leg to change the fittings on my violin. Or some that were far too busy to work on a cheap beginner instrument. I was about to give up but... I found Forte Strings. The lady on the phone greeted me and assured me they could replace my strings, change my bridge, end pin, chin rest. She gave me a quote over the phone. I was super excited that she quoted me very reasonably and turn around time was only 2 days. When I got there they explained the end pin was too small and would fit too loose on the violin. They assured me they would find a replacement in a similar color because making the whole smaller was too expensive. Two days later I picked up my violin. I could tell the new strings made a difference and they even used the same end pin. They went through the trouble of making the end pin hole smaller for a small amount extra. The service here and craftsmanship in their work is exceptional. I would definitely recommend this amazing couple. They are honest, transparent, and have a wealth of knowledge in their craft. Very helpful, informative and kind owners who helped me get two violin rentals for my kids. I know nothing of violins but they made me feel at ease and explained everything. They have rentals that you can rent to own if you don't want to commit to buying just yet which is perfect for our situation. My kids just came home from their first school lesson today and music teacher wanted to know where we got our rentals because she said ours was too notch quality. She said it was obvious the rental was not just high quality but well cared for and tuned. The other students had sub par violins that were not set up correctly. Our kids were ready to go and she said it was beautiful. Our rentals even came with super cute name tags that look like really nice luggage tags. Violins, Cellos and Obos are their specialities. We took it to Forte Strings so they could check it out. First, having had played violin as a child, I hated it. BUT, looking back, I regret giving up on my first instrument and wish I would have stuck with it. This is where my regret has led me to seek out picking it up again...as a 30 something year old man. Surprisingly, they even have on site instructors that do 1-on-1 lessons, which eased my irrational visions of playing 'twinkle twinkle little star' next to a 5 year old on some Billy Madison type of situation. Excellent! Eric is a true master of music & of the violin as an instrument. It is evident when we witness how he plays, how he replaces the parts & fine-tunes it. We trade in our son's old violin & purchase a Pietro Abel priced at $1,600. Our 13-year-old looks forwards to rejoining his junior high school orchestra, knowing that he not only has acquired a greater vehicle, which could be upgraded by Forte Strings as he grows. Apparently long-term clients return for routine maintenance care of their instruments. Extremely pleased with Forte Springs!!! I waited last minute to fix an old viola that my daughter needed for school. Not only were the strings replaced, but Eric made sure that it was tuned perfectly, sounding wonderful and looking brand new. Deana explained a handful of useful facts about instrument maintenance. They even took the time to remove a piece of velcro that fell inside the viola itself. I was so happy to find this store close to us. The family that runs the store are very friendly and very helpful! We brought in an old violin and instead of trying to sell us a new one, the just fixed it up for us by replacing the strings in just a few minutes and gave it a tuning too. When the end piece broke a few weeks later, they again just fixed it! They have a huge variety of string instruments and cases in fun colors (orange, purple, etc.) (and we did buy a new case because the old one was broken and heavy and beyond repair but they gave me a great price!). I first noticed this store when going on a little walk with my wife in down town Fullerton. The owner was really hospitable during our unscheduled visit and this stayed with me as a place to come down the line. Flash forward a month later, I decided to buy new strings for my wife's violin as a Christmas present. The first place I thought about was Forte Strings. Even when doing a quick yelp search this place came up as highly rated. I went in knowing what strings I wanted for her violin but little did I know the bridge was a bit damaged/warped. The owner was nice enough to replace a bridge for free that was better then the one we currently had. She also recommended a new bow since the two my wife had were too old/unusable (1 being broken already and the other one had warped since my wife didn't loosen the strings on the bow). She ended up showing me a wood bow and a carbon fiber bow. I really liked the carbon fiber bow and they gave me 20 dollars off the bow.  The owner went above and beyond helping me get the perfect present for my wife. She saw the condition of the violin and threw in a case, resin, cleaning cloth, free of charge. I still got to keep all the old stuff since they held sentimental value to my wife. Not once did I feel like I pressured into buying anything I didn't want. The love and care the owner had for these instruments/music really shined through. I had many questions and they were definitely knowledgeable about it all. I felt like I know more about these things now. In terms of the transaction process, they were very transparent about what their payment options were and it went well without any problems. All in all, a great experience and I would come back with friends who are in the market for a new instrument, or at least for a much needed TLC/repair. Merry Christmas Eric and Deana! They were kind enough to give me a rough appraisal (which matched other shops I took it to) and a very reasonable repair quote. As a local teacher I have since sent many if my students here for instrument rentals and purchases, and have loved every one I've heard. I bought a cello from Deanna and Eric and I'm thoroughly satisfied! I made an inquiry here through Yelp and Deanna replied really quickly with a few quotes to help me find a cello in my budget. They both did all they could to make it affordable for me. They provided me a soft case, a quality bow, quality rosin (cake shaped), a mute, and microfibre cloth to clean my cello! They walked me through how to properly clean and take care of the cello. Deanna, a wonderful cellist, played for me to show me it's quality! Eric is also a knowledgeable violinist and both of them are very passionate about their shop! Brought in my daughter's quarter size (used) cello that was in need of repairs. They were very knowledgeable and fixed the necessary problems (within my budget!). A friend recommended me to this place, but I did compare the repairs I needed at 2 other places before having Forte Strings do it. The other 2 places were also instrumental stores, but the repair person (for strings) was not readily onsite everyday. Versus at Forte Strings, they only deal with string instruments! Such a fabulous place to go for all of your string needs. I had the most amazing and fun experience there with Eric and Deana. You can just feel all the "music love" in there the minute you walk into their store. They have a plethora of instruments to choose from, but more importantly, a good variety of quality and price points as well. As a violinist of 3 decades, I haven't been in the market to purchase an instrument in over 25 years, but I came in this time to purchase two violins for my 9 and 5 year old. Who knew that a 1/2 and 1/4 violin could sound so good! Eric and I played through a handful of instruments, to find the right ones within my price point. Just a side note, don't be swayed by new vs. used. Newer isn't always better, and in fact, with age, the instrument can "mature". We found a fabulous used instrument for my son at an extremely reasonable price, and I couldn't be happier. So, when narrowing down your choices, listen to tone and quality of the sound, over aesthetics or age of the instrument. Deana and Eric are so passionate about their instruments, and their business, and are SO great at helping you decipher between instruments to help you choose the one best suited for your needs.
