I LOVE the fact that the location they collect, sort and package children's clothing in takes place in a building that has been donated to the organization - rent free. I LOVE that the only overhead costs they have are electricity and heat. I LOVE that they are not snobs about the donations and will even pass along gently worn socks and underwear. If a mother chooses not to clothe her children in these items, that is her prerogative, but it should be hers and hers alone. I think that when it comes down to it, most mothers would opt for their children to have then to go without. Besides, that is what bleach and washing machines are for. I LOVE that you get a card with a child's name and age to work from. It gives you a sense of relationship to the child you are compiling a care package of clothes, books and toys for. I especially LOVE that they pray over the children we are trying to help, their parent's and the volunteer group, before you start. I will be back this month....with bags of clothes, toys and games that my friends have helped me put together.

I live in Beaverton, but my daughter teaches in Vancouver, The school where she teaches is a very high poverty school. I choose to take a very large donation over to Vancouver, with the thought it may help some of the kids in her school. When I arrived, there was a man working by the front door, he never acknowledged me until I asked if this is where I should leave donations. I then proceeded to unload my car of four very large containers of clothes, and three bags. By then, there were three or four other employees standing about, no one offered to help take the containers into the store front. When I finally was done with the unloading, not one of the employees even looked my way, or had the courtesy to say, thank you. I wasn't looking for accolades for my "good deed", but a simple thank you would have been appreciated. I spent a lot of time and effort, sorting through all the clothes to be certain only items in very good condition were included, I folded them carefully and packed them. I will find another charity, that is perhaps more appreciative of peoples efforts, the up side is some boys are going to have some nice clothes to wear to school and for that I am thankful.

I've had two kids attend and after reviewing some other options in the area, have been so glad to have them come to Great Starts. We really like Ms. Lisa, the pre-K teacher, who has done such a wonderful job helping our first child become super prepared for kindergarten. Our youngest is also learning the fundamentals that most kindergartens learn about. Theresa and the rest of the staff really go above and beyond, whether it's putting on Christmas programs, inviting parents to attend lunches around other holidays, and more. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a daycare for their young child or a place for their child to prepare for kindergarten.

Parents beware!! My son has been in attendance in your…read morefacility for almost 5 years since he was 4 months old. It was a place where he formed good friendships, and the staff at the time really cared about the children and their development. Over the past year, we've continued to see repeated teacher turn over, lack of staffing, closures, and the new staff being bought in either does not follow what should be standard practices to keep kids safe, engage, and develop children or they frankly don't care about their wellbeing. My concerns, and those of other parents continue to be met with animosity and contempt. Often with blame being placed on the children, rather than the adults who should be guiding and caring for them. Within the past few months it has become apparent that neglect, abuse, and inappropriate practices makes it unsafe for children to remain in this facility. No child should ever be forcibly held down to nap, an occurrence that has happened atleast twice that I am aware of with my child and never addressed in an appropriate manner. Additionally, teachers have left unsafe items within children reach such as pepper spray with toddlers, unattended children while teachers are on their cell phones or not engaging and watching the children to ensure they are safe, staff of all levels talking negatively about other kids, parents, and staff within earshot of the children and parents, and teachers using inappropriate language directly at children on occasion. Due to the continued issues of neglect and abuse my son has received from the staff within the center in recent months (of which I listed only a small fraction,) as well as continued lack of understanding or improvements to correct the issues that have been impacting not only my child but other children within the center. It is no longer safe for my son or frankly others to be in the care of your facility, I am happy to discuss with corporate my concerns, and suggest that follow-up with other recent de-enrolled students parents be done if it has not already taken place. This was a very hard decision but the place we loved and felt was a second family for our son is no longer there, and my hope is change will be made to bring it back to a safe nurturing place for children to grow and prosper.

I was in choir in middle school and high school but never again after that and I always missed it. It felt like a lifelong dream come true to join Blueprint and be in an organized musical group again. The conductors pick impeccable music for us to sing. There are many different ensembles so you can choose which genre of music you want to sing. For anyone who loves to sing, I highly recommend checking them out. All skill levels can join and if you don't know how to read music, no problem. There are recordings you can use to learn the songs through an app.
