But I feel obligated to warn others about this unprofessional, borderline rundown excuse for a dental office. My 23-year-old daughter had gone to Island Dental here on Chincoteague for most of her life with a perfect dental record--no cavities. Then we made the mistake of switching to Dr. Feis. After just one cleaning in his care, she left not only with a cavity but crying from how rough and painful the experience was. Now she has dental anxiety because of how traumatic it was. The office is shockingly unclean. The ceiling has massive sagging, water-damaged tiles. The floor is curling and lifting up in spots. The whole place smells musty, feels neglected, and honestly looks abandoned from the outside. It gives off the vibe of a place that should have been shut down or renovated a decade ago. When you walk in, the front desk staff acts like you're interrupting their day. No warmth, no professionalism. The hygienist rushes through the cleaning like she's on a game show timer--no real interaction, just fast and impersonal. And then Dr. Feis comes in for maybe 30 seconds, does a lightning-fast glance, and disappears. It feels like assembly-line dentistry, and the patients clearly aren't the priority. Today was the final straw. I showed up 30 minutes early for my scheduled six-month cleaning. After sitting there for 20 minutes, they called me up and told me they no longer accept my insurance unless you're under 18. Same exact insurance I've used there for years. When I asked why no one had the courtesy to call me ahead of time, especially since I drove 40 minutes to get there, I got nothing but blank stares like I'd grown a second head. This place is disorganized, outdated, and operates with a "we don't care" attitude from top to bottom. If you value your health, time, and money--go somewhere else.

First impressions count. The building that houses the office is owned by Dr. Fei (according to his technician DeeDee) where he has been in practice for 20 years. The building is in need of care. See the accompanying photos. The actual appointment for a cleaning and checkup went fairly well. I had the standard X-rays done (bite down on the clip). Deedee is a cheerful and pleasant lady; she cleaned my teeth with a vengeance! A few times the business end of the cleaning tool poked my gums enough to draw blood, but it had stopped bleeding by the time Dr. Fei came in to do his part. I do not think a child could have tolerated it, as an adult with sensitive gums it was unpleasant but very thorough. Dr. Fei was pleasant and concerned. He asked about any issues I was having and addressed them. My X-rays showed no problems. Dr. Fei probed my teeth and pronounced them sound, no issues there. My bill was $185.00 for the X-rays, cleaning, and check-up. Dr. Fei was concerned for the wait to get an appointment. He apologized and explained that he is currently short-staffed. If office appearance doesn't bother you, then I can definitely recommend Dr. Fei for dental check-ups and cleanings. As for anything further, I can neither recommend nor approve since this is just my first visit.

There was a lot of work to do, but he made it absolutely stress-free working on my fillings and crowns. After he left the dental clinic that he was working at and until he opened his own practice I remained completely dentist-less. I did go to a dentist once but it was a mediocre experience, and I would never go there again. Couple months later I found Dr. Yazdan's clinic on Google Maps and was so relieved that my dentist problems are over! Even though he is located way further from me than the clinic he used to work at, I'd rather drive to his clinic than go to somebody I don't trust. I've already had my first appointment at Yazdan Family Dentistry and was quite impressed! Being his patient, you do feel like family!
