For context, I went to another dentist after a horrible back and forth experience with Dr English's office and they had no issue whatsoever finding my insurance. I went to make appointments and as they were putting in my information, the receptionist told me they were unable to find my insurance. I explained who our insurance was and gave them my member ID, card information etc. She was unable to pull it up and actually told me I *did not* have insurance. She said it looked like my employer did not choose to offer dental. I knew that to be untrue and tried to tell her, and was told to call my insurance. I spoke to my insurance and confirmed yes, we do have dental coverage. I downloaded pages from my insurance benefits page detailing the exact dental coverage I had. I call Dr. English's office back and tell her I can send actual documents. She said "don't email me that." The woman on the phone continued to talk down to me saying no my husband "chose" to not get dental insurance and spoke as though I had no idea what I was talking about (I've worked in multiple doctor offices and am familiar with verifying patients' insurance.) I emailed them my insurance documents despite the rudeness because I found it just strange at this point that they were so insistent they weren't able to pull it up. I received the following email back. After this I continued to get multiple voicemails asking me to give them my insurance, and then received a text in all caps that they were cancelling my appointment because I didn't reply to them within two days. Honesty just all around incompetent and aggressively rude. Such a bizarre experience because the next dentist I went to found my insurance just fine.

The dentist are fine but the billing department is rude. I will find another dentist with better…read morecustomer service.

This has happened multiple times to my family where RRD presents a quote that shows after insurance out-of-pocket fees for proposed services. Each time I have agreed to proceed based on those quotes and paid for the quote balance before leaving their office. Next thing I know I receive invoices for fees still due after insurance payments that are very significant. I have met with their billing/treatment coordinator and was told that they do not normally contact insurance companies for establishing customer quotes, but use a general database, although they present "insurance pays" amounts in the quotes. As a note, I did sign each quote that states that I will pay balances not paid by the insurance company, but I assumed quotes would be accurate or at least in the general ballpark. In the future RRD staff has agreed to actually coordinate with my insurance company to provide an accurate quote (this is not standard policy, so you have to ask for it), but I will not be going back. I feel ripped off. FYI, my insurance company is a major insurer.
