What an amazing store!! The hubs and I were walking by and thought we were walking by a museum, but it is an actual store where the artist has carved fossilized mammoth, whale, and walrus bones/tusks. The art is simply amazing and you can even own a piece of this art!! In order to gain access, you have to ring the bell. Kathy greeted us so warmly and told us about the shop. She also said that we can gently "pet" the carved animals to feel the different textures of the bones/teeth. While it sounded great, we didn't want to touch art nor fossils. The art items were gorgeous but we don't have the space for them in our home. That's how we ended up at the jewelry and for my birthday, the hubs bought me a honeycomb ring with 3 different colors of amber filling a few of the honeycomb spaces with a cute bee on it. This is a gallery that you have to experience to believe. I was so in awe of everything that I didn't even take a single picture and I even bought a sculpture and didn't photograph it! This gallery contains the work of an artist that works with reclaimed and natural materials. He's clearly heavily inspired by his environment and the cultures around him. Everything he makes is so lovingly done. I bought a piece that is salmon spawning carved from bison horn mounted on selenite. It's stunning and was worth the price. One of the finest artists in Seattle in a great downtown gallery just blocks away from Pike Place Market! I first bought Eddie Lee's sculptures in Ketchikan, AK and was very glad to see they opened a store here a few years ago. It's amazing to me how he uses the medium to capture the life of animals, it's something unique that you have to see in person. I live right above this store and me and my husband we decided to stop by. The arts that displayed there all are handmade and unique. You will not get same piece anywhere in the world. The crafts are very elegant and can blend in any interior. My most favorite pieces are with otters and polar bears, it represents so well PNW. We end up buying small piece and we are already thinking about buying other piece for our apartment. You get a certificate and you can also name your otters & bears...I highly recommend this store, you will not be disappointed. Also we happened to meet Eddies (owner) daughter and she explained us a lot about art and craftsmanship. Eddie works with selenite and many sculptors don't have enough experience to work with such a material because it's very fragile. I was walking to Folio in the Market this afternoon and walked almost by a store along the way. Having had my interest piqued by a few modest shops in the Haight in San Francisco the previous month, on the spur of the moment, I entered it (after ringing the bell). Believe me, I had no intention of buying anything at all. I despise and deplore the hyper-consumerist society we live in, and downtown Seattle is full of shops I will never go in. In fact, most of the rock-carved sculptures, of animals, are not my cup of tea. The whole store was far too glass, plexiglass, steel, squeaky clean. So I was somewhat shocked that I actually found something that I felt I could not resist getting: a fluorite obelisk. Having spent time in Paris and Rome, especially the Place de la Concorde with its Obelisk (part of Napoleon's Expedition to Egypt) as well as the Piazza Navona with its Bernini Fountain of the Four Rivers, with an obelisk as well, I felt an immediate attraction. Its simplicity and purity remind me of something by Brancusi ("Bird in Space") (although the mediums are quite different). The shop assistant was gracious, informed, and upbeat. (It's nice to support an Asian-owned business, too). Am I on a roll? I never liked particularly Dale Chihuly's works (or his Seattle Center museum) but wound up liking Seguso blown glass after two trips to Murano. Maybe. read more

This is the best art studio in Seattle. It has a museum vibe as well. Eddie Lee is the artist that creates these unique sculptures. There are a variety of mediums with stone and fossil. It's truly impressive the art and craftsmanship that it takes to create these beautiful pieces. read more

We went to Fossil and Stone because of the fantastic assortment of Fossils, Geodes and Sculptures they have. We fell in love with the Geodes, they are huge !! The staff was very helpful and not pushy at all, they also gave us the history and background of the artists. We found a Geode that would fit our needs. Once purchased they packed it up VERY securely with foam and and peanuts, very secure , it would have been safe for UPS ground ! The place has everything from $50 crystals to $10,000 sculptures.
