Hello fellow yelpers! Let me start by saying yes I am a local but If you're reading this you likely want somewhere to eat In russell so that sort of makes you a local too. If just for tonight. Ok let's address the elephant in the room. There are no reviews for this place however the former establishment in this location still has reviews that are active and have it show up first so no one scrolls down to this. So yes I've posted this review in both locations. So with that in mind. We will start with service. This place has a few of my favorite folks working here and they are all focused on making sure you have a good time and enjoy your visit. If there is room at the bar go ahead and belly up! We're friendly and the bar tenders are multi talented (food and drinks). If not or if you have a large group the tables are just fine too the waitstaff out there is great too. Soda is self service from the fountain with as many refills as you care to get. If something a little stronger strikes your fancy they have 5-6 taps with solid selections (avalanche, flight, michelob ultra, coots light etc). They also have a full bar with great mixed drinks if that's more you're speed. Now for the food. I typically gravitate towards the specials so I lay them out here. Monday: tacos! Believe it or not these are the best tacos in town. They make a fossil taco (similar to a double decker) in beef or chicken that is great! Or a smothered burrito that is also an excellent choice. Tuesday: my favorite! Wing night! No boneless junk wings here. These are the biggest juiciest wings in 3 counties. I cannot get enough! They have an array of sauces that will please anyone. If the wings aren't enough they also have 1.50 cans of your favorite beer. Wednesday: ok here's our first pizza night! Mediums are on special (7 or 8$ don't remember which) any way you want them. If you can't find a pizza you like here that's a you problem. I personally dig the firebox pizza. And a $1.75 draft to wash it all down. Thursday: varies so here we will talk About the rest menu in general. Salads, sandwiches, soups, pastas, oh an amazing appetizers (see more on this on Sunday). The special for Thursday varies but 2.50 well drinks are a staple. Friday: pizza take 2! 13$ large any way you want it. And $3.25 big drafts to finish the week of proper. Saturday: 9.99 double cheeseburgers! I find it remiss that I have yet to mention the burgers they are moist/flavorful and there are enough varieties to sate any burger lover. 12$ domestic buckets and Sometimes if your really lucky they have Karaoke. Sunday: funday! 2 for 10 appetizers. Tater kegs, rooster tails, fried mushrooms, egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, fried green beans mozzarella sticks! All awesome. The special rotates a bit but gizzards, lamb fires, pork tenderloin etc have made an appearance. Ok now for a plug for the waitstaff. Tracy, Sarah, Denise, Melissa and Mackayla all work very hard to make sure your drinks are full and your order is right. Stop in and say hello. It's a great place. Best in town. I have no affiliation with this location other than eating here way to often. I don't think about yelp very often when I home but after a recent trip I glanced through the local reviews and couldn't let it go without getting my review on the record. read more

I love the atmosphere! The booths are the best, their oven baked sandwiches are delicious. The kids menu for the spaghetti and meatballs is enough for me.Their 2/$10 appetizers are a fantastic deal. They have the best appetizers I've eaten from anywhere. read more

Amazing hand pattied bacon cheese burger and hand cut fries! Found this place while traveling through. Wish we had this place at home!

Definitely a place for the locals. Typical bar and grill feel. Serve your own soft drinks. I had the queso burger. I was asked how I wanted it cooked. I requested medium rare- it came well done and tough. Fries were greasy. The bf order spaghetti. It wasn't saucy- more like crushed tomatoes from a can. Service was service. Terrible experience. Sat ourselves like they said when we walked in the door. Took 30 minutes for someone cone by to ask us what we wanted to drink. Went to the bar, female bartender was extremely rude. One waitress for the entire restaurant. Finally placed an order and sat for an extra two hours for a pizza that never came. After asking the server several times she said the cook lost our ticket. Ended up walking out. read more

Never expect a good restaurant close to a main freeway. The two stars are for the Decent service. Had their version of Hawaiian pizza. Covered with plastic tasting cheese ( white and yellow) canned pineapple and Canadian bacon that was a little chewy and not in a good way. The have homemade pies that are not bad but I have to look with more of an effort next trip. I wouldn't go back. Service Station pizza is basically what it is. Stopped here for a late lunch, and in the end it wasn't an awful decision. Their menu is pretty run-of-the-mill offering burgers, chicken strips, sandwiches, pizza, spaghetti etc and the prices are very reasonable. In my experience there was a bit of a wait getting my food & paying for my meal but the hostess was very polite and explained she was very short staffed, so the hospitality made up for the wait. I had spaghetti and meatballs and it was good but unfortunately would've cost just as much and tasted better had I just made it at home. If you're traveling this isn't a bad little place to grab a bite to eat but if you're local, probably not. read more

We don't like eating at chain restaurants while on vacation. We found this place in Russell and decided to try it. The appetizers are excellent, the nachos were amazing with homemade tortilla chips. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and then it went downhill. The pizza is subpar, we got a pepperoni with sausage and black olives. It was burnt on the crust, and had absolutely no flavor. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. Would go back and just get appetizers or try something else. My son loved his spaghetti and the Texas toast was good. My husband's calzone was delicious, so that's the two stars. I got boneless wings and it was 75% bread. I ordered them because they were one of the few menu items that didnt involve bread. It was not busy at all and it took close to ten minutes to get someone's attention to send the chicken back We still had to pay for half, which I don't think is right Not a bad place. Was on my way from KC to Colorado, and stopped here to work a bit, get a bite, a beer, and watch the playoffs game. Not only was the service here amazing, the locals here at the bar were some of the kindest people I've met in a long time. I'll be stopping back by on my way home. read more

Very good. We drive across Kansas on our way to/from CO 2-3 times a year and stop at new restaurants often. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of Fossil Station. We were skeptical since it is attached to a gas station but the food and service were far from the normal gas station restaurant. We will eat here again. read more

Quite possibly THE worst pizza I've ever had. It was like eating cardboard with plastic cheese and sauce that has been continually reheated everyday. We literally threw it away and got Pizza Hut across the street. Not to mention a large cheese pizza is FIFTEEN dollars. WAY too pricey for a pizza joint attached to a gas station. Staff was very friendly here however there is a huge sign out front that reads pizza by the slice, buffet etc yet when I come in at 6:30pm (normal dinner) on a Monday there are a few people at the bar, no buffet and nothing ready but chicken soup. Stayed over night at Fossil Creek Lodge (excellent place to stay) on our west to east coast drive and walked over to Fossil Creek Pizza for dinner. Despite the unfavorable reviews we decided to try it out anyway. We should have followed our instinct when we saw the employees seating on the curb behind the restaurant. Reviews are right....poor service and mediocre food. Posted closing time was 10:00....we were seated at @ 8:30pm. Two people in our group was going to order the salad bar but they dismantled it at 8:45. When we asked they said that the new manager wanted them to close early this particular night. A bit strange but okay. When we left at @9:30 people were still coming in...Last compliant my 8yr old left her purse on the bench and the next morning we went back to get it. All her money was taken. Disappointing and a hard lesson for an 8yr old. read more

You would be better off going to Pizza Hut. The service is average, some waiters/waitresses are better than others. The price of the pizza is too high for the taste and the size. The pepperoni, hamburger, and cheese pizzas are good but anything other than that you risk biting into an unknown concoction of food on bread. They used to have delicious dessert pizza but now it's baked too long and crunchy. The salad bar closes down very early, and in my opinion, it is better than the pizza. Not somewhere I would voluntarily go again. The best part about this restaurant is the bathrooms. They're surprisingly clean. read more

Only giving one star because zero isn't an option. Bartender looked at us and said "what do you want?"Took forever to get seated, hostess didn't check on us at all after that. Bought frozen/ reheated "chicken" fried steak with boxed mashed potatoes and corn from a can for my girlfriend. Also bought frozen reheated fettuccine Alfredo with a film a centimeter thick over the top of it that I couldn't get rid of. Burnt noodles- how do you burn noodles? Lost an hour on my trip because the service was stupid slow and we didn't even eat most of our meals. $25 I'll never see again. read more

Watery spaghetti sauce, undercooked bacon, rude server who gave poor service, if I could rate lower than 1 star I would....although the manager comped the turkey club with the undercooked bacon(looked like it wasn't cooked at all and was rubbery) first we received the wrong club sandwich when we brought it to the servers attention she had an attitude about it when we received the correct club sandwich the bacon was far from properly cooked, we had empty cups on the table and she failed to ask us did we need refills we had to actually tell her we needed more to drink, the spaghetti was decent except the sauce was watery and the garlic toast was burnt, the pizza was okay except the outside of the crust was burnt....don't know who cooks or does the hiring at this place but I do know I'll never stop here again, this has been one of the most poor restaurant experiences my family and I have had, also while we were sitting there we overheard others talking about how they got the wrong food as well and how poorly the server was doing read more
