I got the Apple, walnut salad with chicken also blue cheese and walnuts with a creamy herb dressing and it had a little spicy kick to it..Hubby got spaghetti pie -thin spaghetti Alfredo sauce, Italian cheeses, baked in a small loaf pan and topped with cheese and marinara sauce. Stopped here to have a lunch meal before a large dinner was planned in the evening. We were greeted and seated immediately. The hostess was super customer service oriented and the server was also very much so as well. We saw that they had lunch specials for $9.99 and also Oktoberfest specials on beer: $4 pints & $5 tall steins. We ordered: Cheesy Sticks Starters, 2 Old Chicago Chopped Salads, 1 Oktoberfest Beer, and 1 Heineken 0% Alcohol Beer. Everything came out within a good amount if time: about 7 mins for the starter, and 10 mins after that for the salads. The cheesy bread was pretty good, hot and flavorful. It came with a marinara dipping sauce. The salads were tiny and served in small bowls. They definitely were not worth $10 each, but maybe $3 each, as they were side salad size, not lunch salad size. So here's a serious question-- does the water in Hays have a high sulfur content? We live in California and our daughter is starting her freshman year at FHSU. We've happily eaten at this Old Chicago location twice in the past 60 days (once in July and once in August) and both times could smell sulfur. The pizza is consistent and the price is spot on. Service is great (everyone is pleasant in Kansas) but we had to be moved the last time we ate here in August due to the noxious smell emanating from the kitchen. Other restaurants in downtown Hays do not have this issue and we did NOT notice this issue staying at the Hilton near by. read more

Very happy it's our first experience at Old Chicago. Nice selection of beer on tap and in bottles. In fact, I found several of my favorites and also discovered a new stout that was delicious. We split an order of the pepperoni rolls that really were the star of the night. They easily could be an entree and would be delicious. I had the 'Meat Me' deep dish pizza, which was good but over had better. My daughter did a make your own pizza, which she liked, but she was also full from the pepperoni rolls so she only ate half. We split an individual cookie pizza for desert, which hit the spot. Other than one blip at the bar, service was fine. Just okay. We stopped in for dinner after stopping for the night while returning to Colorado. We ordered some appetizers off of the happy hour menu. The Buffalo chicken rolls were just OK. Seems like they use canned chicken in them and they were probably made a long time prior to being served and just heated perhaps of the salamander. The wings were actually very very good. We both enjoyed those and they were crispy and tossed in the sauce that we asked for. The little pizza off of the happy hour menu was OK had a lot of sauce little cheese, but nothing to brag About. I ordered the oatmeal stout and was brought a lager. She quickly changed that out to the stout that I asked for the stout is reasonably flat. It does have a head on it, but it's not tasted very fresh. All in all it was an okay dinner for a stop over, but I probably wouldn't come back. I feel like I have been to better Old Chicago chains. Traveling to Colorado Springs we stopped in Hays Kansas for the night (pro tip...keep driving a bit further to the next town) We had our Staffordshire Bull Terrier with us so I hit up YELP looking for dog friendly patios for dinner. Old Chicago was the first on the list with decent reviews so we went. There really wasn't anything wrong with this place but it didn't ring my too bell for any prize. It could have been that I was tired from the 10 hour drive or that it was hot...or that it was Wednesday night and the patio was dead so there was no atmosphere. We stopped at Old Chicago during an overnight stay in Hays while driving cross country. We picked it because we had our dog with us and as other reviewers stated, they have an outdoor patio that allows your dog to join you. We were happy we didn't have to eat another meal locked in our hotel room!! We ordered a few drinks to start with that came out fast and then enjoyed some Buffalo wings and a Tuscan Chicken pizza on pale ale crust. The wings were good and the blue cheese dressing that came with it was delicious!! The Tuscan chicken pizza was very tasty and hit the spot after a day of driving. The best meal though was the plain chicken breast they grilled for our dog after we asked about it. He loved it and we really appreciated the extra effort. They even cut it for him!! Our server Maddie was 5 out of 5, friendly, fast, answered our questions with a smile, took care of a minor issue immediately. We had a large pizza and it was superior. Despite their name (Old Chicago Pizza), their menu includes a variety of appetizers, soups and salads, pizzas, wings, calzones, burgers, chicken and fish and chips (I may have missed something but you get the picture). The pizzas come in 3 sizes (individual, medium and large) and three types of crust (thick/Chicago style, thin and tavern). As Chicagoans, we can confirm that the tavern-style crust is for-sure well-made, and it made us feel like home. The service was excellent, with wonderfully helpful servers. I know this is a chain by the decor inside and I have been to one in Wyoming once before. I must say the pizza is pretty damn good. Not quite what I would consider Chicago Style Pizza but it was good in its own right. They have a ton of beers on tap and I had a couple local Kansas brews. A hef and a stout (in a can) which were both tasty grog. I sat at the bar of course, my favorite place at any restaurant. The bartender was awesome, by the name on the receipt his name was Anton.
