There are not enough words to recommend Foster Animal Hospital properly. After our previous veterinarian retired, we roved around but weren't satisfied with the level of care and attention we were receiving elsewhere. We asked our neighbors and got almost universal recommendations from neighbors to Foster Animal Hospital. We would hear, "Doctor Barrow is excellent." "Doctor Aziz came by my house. He's just so incredible and caring." "Nearly everyone in this block goes to Doctor Aziz." Wow. They were right. What a difference once we got to Foster! After our first visit, we said "Looks like we found our new vet." Everyone is incredibly friendly and has a genuine care for your animal. These people LOVE animals and it shows in everything they do. The vet techs and doctors take as much time as you need, answer your questions, explain everything, and treat pets (and their owners) with love and care. The front desk team is somehow always on-the-ball with scheduling, billing, and reception. We're never waiting to be seen long. They are up-front, honest, fair, and transparent when it comes to costs, which I appreciate. Parking lot is huge and the location is super convenient. From the beginning, the service was unprofessional. I was incorrectly told the gender of my kitten, and a possible diagnosis of ringworm was mentioned without a clear examination or proper explanation. This caused unnecessary stress and concern. Throughout the visit, I felt disrespected and treated with little empathy. As a non-English speaker, I perceived a discriminatory attitude and a lack of patience from the staff, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. The reception staff were also cold and unkind. In addition, being directed to leave through a back door was humiliating and completely unacceptable, making me feel mistreated as a client. Most importantly, I later visited another veterinarian who provided a proper and professional evaluation. They confirmed that my kitten does NOT have ringworm, but instead has parasites and dry skin, and he is now receiving the correct treatment with respectful care. For all these reasons, I do not recommend this clinic due to their lack of professionalism, accuracy, and basic respect for clients and their pets. read more

We came to this hospital because of Clifton Animal Shelter. We adopted 2 kittens that needed to be spayed. Dr. Aziz and the entire staff were amazing. They were very kind, and surgery was done well. Sue always texted me the next day to check on the kittens. They worked around their busy schedule to accommodate our needs. I don't live close by the hospital, and that's a bummer. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who lives in the Clifton area. read more

I took my fifteen year old cat, Sadie to Foster Animal Hospital in December. Everyone was very kind and caring from beginning to end. She had some tests done and then I received the terrible news that she had cancer and there was nothing to be done, but watch for signs that she was suffering, and then bring her back to be put down. I had called subsequently with questions, and was always called back promptly, and dealt with as if my concerns were important. Four months later, I had to make that difficult decision, as she was showing the signs of distress that were discussed previously. I made the appointment to bring her back, and from the moment we came in, the receptionists, the veterinarian assistant, Michelle, and Dr Aziz were all aware of why we were there, and treated us with patience and kindness letting us stay as long as we needed to say good bye and to grieve afterward. I decided to have her cremated and went to pick them up in the vessel that I had chosen. It was wrapped in beautiful velvet bag, with a bereavement card enclosed from the staff, and a pamphlet on grieving a pet. This is the way to run an animal hospital, and I highly recommend them. read more

Have been going here since my first dog was a pup. She is now 11. My baby Boxer is now 8 and is still going strong. The services are full and complete. It is rather pricey but for that you get good care and great referrals if a specialist is required. The networks of doctors care and work with you and your pet. I have pet insurance and therefore the final out of pocket is not to bad considering the alternative. I highly recommend this facility. I want to say this is an update: I had to do the worst thing a pet owner can ever do and that is put an animal to sleep. The staff was very compassionate during a difficult time. My cat had a limp and a swollen leg. I called Foster at 3:30pm and they said I can bring him in, but they close at 5:00pm. Everything went smoothly. Arlene the receptionist was cool. The assistant was really sweet, didn't catch her name though. Dr. Baker was on top of the situation. I felt like he was straight forward about my babes condition. No bullshit. My cat must have been bit because he had an infected wound, causing the swelling and pain. They spruced him up and $250 dollars later he was a free cat. All in under 45 minutes I might add. Tip: They waive the initial $70 appointment fee if you check in on Yelp. For new clients only. That eased the financial situation a bit. read more

When either of my cats has a problem I don't even consider bringing them anywhere else but foster animal hospital. My poor kitty had a very bad case of periodontal disease, and after kicking myself for not realizing it sooner, I brought her to the clinic to see what they could do for her. They were upfront about what needed to be done, they never gave me the runaround like some places might do, and they took excellent care of her throughout the whole process! I ended up signing up for the VCA care club, since it was going to cost me a pretty penny if I were to pay up front. Overall it was pretty expensive (as it would have been anywhere) but the unconditional love you get from your animals is 100% worth it. read more

My second time here, first time my daughter sadly & unfortunately had to put her cat to sleep, they were so kind, it was with Dr. Aziz, he was very comforting and explained the whole process. Now 2nd time with my grandoggy, for vaccines and eye infection, we were helped by Lauren the vet assistant and Dr. Barow they both were very sweet and thorough. What can I say about this Animal Hospital. My dog passed away two years ago, but I brought her here for years. I was looking for a good place, that would treat us both right, and even though Foster wasn't around the corner from me I still traveled here for my dogs needs because they are honestly the nicest people. My dog wasn't easy, she was a Pomeranian mix with Chihuahua so she was feisty. She had to be muzzled every time I brought her. They never rolled their eyes, never sucked their teeth, never gave me a hard time about this. My dog passed away from heart failure two years ago, but before I knew what was wrong of course there were a lot of tests, x-rays, and blood work involved. The doctor was always available, always called back right away with results, and you can genuinely hear the compassion in his voice. I unfortunately had to put her down, she was starting to suffer from seizures. When I realized this happened I called and they told me to bring her in right away. I scheduled an appointment to put her down the next morning. As some of you may know, the pain of losing an animal you love so deeply is truly heart breaking. When I arrived they had a sign at the front desk asking other visitors to be please be quiet and respectful because someone was losing their pet, along with a white candle. You may not think this is a big deal, but to me it meant everything. A week after I received a card in the mail from Foster Animal Hospital wishing me their condolences, with my pets name, signed by the staff whoHAND WROTE their own names. Even though my dog passed two years ago I just wanted to let you know this will forever stay with me. I appreciate the compassion and the support during one of the worst periods of my life. When the time comes for me to have another animal, I will be coming back to Foster and I will always speak highly of you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. read more

Truely the hardest review I've attempted on Yelp to date. I've had my pets taken care of by Foster's since Foster was there which is many decades ago. The Pros: Outstanding care and an Outstanding staff. A top notch facility. The Cons: Veterinary care unlike the restaurant reviews has no $ index and unlike restaurants doesn't have a menu of costs. The key to getting the most out of Foster's is asking Before the fact what tests and procedures will cost and are they necessary and Insist on it on a firm answer. I have had many animals, and different Vets have treated them. From my birds, dogs, and cats. My Phoebe went in for a check up on Wednesday & was going to be spayed in about 2 weeks, however when her blood work came back, and showed sign of infection in the Uterus, Dr Barbara & Dr Baker both cleared the calendar for an emergency spay the very next day! Everyone in the office, Karen, Michelle, Arlene, (if I'm missing anyone I apologize) is just so warm, caring and loving. They all put my mind at ease. This morning I met with a tech name Kyle, he also comforted me just by being so pleasant when I brought my Kitty in for the surgery. Only a few hours later and my Phone is ringing, it was Dr Baker saying Phoebe is doing great!! You can imagine my sigh of relief to get that call.. I also loved the facility for it's cleanliness. I will continue to bring all my pets ALWAYS to Foster animal Hospital. It's nice to know that customer service, and good old fashion bed side manner in Dr's and staff is not dead!! When I got my German Shepherd back in 2012, I brought him here to get his shots. Dr Barow came in & was absolutely terrified. Mind you, the dog was 6 months old, and was not behaving aggressively at ALL. He was was sniffing around the room, and decided to poop in it, but he did not jump on her, bark at her, growl at her. Tbh, he paid her no attention besides a sniff as he passed her in his exploration of the room, and it was a very cursory quick sniff, he didn't stand there for even 5 seconds. Yet she literally was plastered with her back to the wall, saying she'd been bitten by a GSD once. I was shocked to see a vet react that way, not that she doesn't have the right to be wary due to her past experience, but because the dog was doing absolutely nothing to cause her alarm and also as a vet she should be well aware that dogs pick up your energy. I had made it clear when I made the appointment that I had a German Shepherd; if she is that terrified of them to LITERALLY be pressed against the wall in fear (and I am not even remotely exaggerating, I swear), then she should not handle those appointments; pass them on to another vet! A German Shepherd biting her once does not mean she should be scared now of German Shepherds, and a vet should know that. Seeing as how I love GSDs I clearly could not go back there, but if I turned around tomorrow and began breeding maltipoos I still wouldn't go back. A fearful dog can be dangerous, and so can a fearful vet. (And there's a huge difference between being sensibly cautious and standing frozen in wide-eyed horror as though I just walked in with Freddy Krueger. Had I not been so thoroughly astonished at the violence of her reaction, I really would've had to laugh.) read more

Wow service! Called them saying my poor kitty was having ear and eye issues they got me an appointment for after work the next day! Anastasia met with Dr. Danforth. She was amazing and bubbly and showed me the best stuff to get. Ana had seen Dr. Aziz (from fosters) twice at the shelter where I got her from, both times he claimed her ears were infected (she had a terrible reaction to the antibiotics and was vomiting so we stopped the meds) turns out it was never an infection and she was given the antibiotics for no reason. I was livid and had no intention of returning to foster. Dr. Danforth got to the bottom of it though and treated her for mites! She really made it a point to save me money too. Now my little kitty is on her way to finally feeling better. She is the only vet I'm going to from now on. She was gentle and calm and my kitty loved her. She even called for a follow up days later! We had our first visit to Foster this evening and as expected it went great. We are longs time patients of Dr. Danforth, who just joined the team. I think it speaks volumes that we followed her from the previous practice despite it being a little further out of the way. Dr. Danforth is incredible. She is the most genuinely caring, compassionate and knowledgeable person/vet we have had the pleasure of knowing. We have had a rough go of it over the past 2 years with our sweet dog, Duchess, developing multiple mass cell tumors. The level of care Dr. Danforth provided was second to none. She walked us through the diagnosis and treatment plan, holding our hands every step of the way. I just can't speak highly enough of her. In regards to Foster, while this was our first visit, I can tell you that from the first phone call to book the appointment the staff was very friendly and efficient. When we arrived, we were treated very nicely. You can tell that everyone working from the front desk to the techs to the vets are there because they truly love and care about the animals. We even got a welcome bag filled with samples and other goodies! I am very happy with my experience and would definitely recommend Foster and Dr. Danforth! read more

Today my dog and myself visited this facility for the 1st time. We had been seeing another vet for 4 years and made the change due to their restrictions, drop animal off and come back in 2 hours. I was not comfortable with this policy. At Foster one person is allowed in and was able to be in the room the whole time, including administering boosters and drawing blood which helped my dog tremendously. The professional manner in which we were treated was wonderful. We were there less than 1/2 hour. We plan to have our beloved dog become a lifetime patient of theirs. read more

I had a wonderful first visit to Foster Animal Hospital yesterday and look forward to returning. My dog has been a patient of Dr. Danforth's going back many years at a different animal hospital and we love her so much we gladly switched to Foster Animal Hospital so we could still see her. I cannot recommend her more highly -- she is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and everything you would want in a vet! I have taken my dog to many, many different vets in the NYC area over the years and she is by far the best vet I've ever been to. I am continually impressed by the exceptional care my dog has received from Dr. Danforth. Foster Animal Hospital was also great. It was very easy to make a same day appointment via their website. The staff was so friendly and helpful and there was no wait at all. Prices are very reasonable and they even offer a free first visit. And they have an ample size parking lot with plenty of parking. Dr. Danforth is beyond amazing when it comes to caring for my dog and 2 cats, and I wouldn't trust another veterinarian with them. I would never recommend a person to visit these offices. While I can say that the vet that checked my dog would seem friendly toward us, the experiences I've had with them for years has made me realize what a terrible time it has been. When I had my first dog, a small Shih Tzu, he started developing redness all throughout his abdomen. The vet, who's name I no longer remember, sent us home with an ointment to alleviate some of the physical symptoms, however provided no recommendations on how to treat any underlying causes. (looking back it was probably a food allergy, as the dog was an indoor only dog). What troubled us was what we discovered when we got home: the ointment, when given to us, had long passed its expiration date. Upon returning to the vet asking for an exchange, since the bottle was clearly recently given to us in an expired condition, they assistants assured us that the expired medication was still good and that they could NOT exchange it. Unacceptable for the price they made us pay for the bottle. Years later, we got our second dog, a medium-large sized husky. Fortunately, she has had no chronic illnesses. We've never had any sort of concern with the vet regarding her, but we have developed a sense of distrust for the group at foster animal hospital because of our experience with our first dog. They charge noticeably higher for unsatisfactory services, and we have since moved and found a new vet and we have since been very happy with both the friendly, exceptional service, and the prices. read more

Best Care for my Pitbull! From moving state to state a few times this establishment has gone above and beyond in treatment. They treated him like any other dog not as the "aggressive breed." Others often require sedation but, they allowed my dog to be himself and realized he was a little anxious and gave him the time to relax himself. I truly appreciate the care from check-in to personally calling or texting for updates on my dog. Highly recommend them. (P.S in jersey this is probably my 5th vet). read more
