I have posted here before but, I cannot reiterate enough how thankful I am every day that I brought my baby girl to Dog , Cat & Bird Clinic. They are kind, compassionate and friendly while professional and knowledgeable and Dr. Nicole goes above and beyond to research and communicate with specialists to determine the best solutions for my baby girl's needs.

My dogs (current and past) are long time patients of Nuttle Dog Cat and Bird Clinic and I don't have a single negative experience in all the years I am coming here. In fact Dr. Crupi has been treating my pets for over 40 years counting a previous Animal Hospital My pets have been treated by many vets besides Dr. Crupi: Dr. Krick (retired) Dr. Stancel and Hillyard have all treated my pets with compassion , knowledge and professionalism. Nancy. Bernice and the entire office staff are fantastic as well I highly recommend Nutley Dod Cat and Bird Clinic for all your pets needs. Besides being well versed in domestic pets they also specialize in Avian and exotic animals.

I love this vet and so does my Stelly! They are very upfront with costs and are willing to answer all my questions over the phone. They have a lot of safety precautions with covid which is understandable but they made me feel comfortable about having Stella go in on her own.

New to the area, I went looking for a vet quickly after we adopted 2 cats. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Dr. Krick is a great doctor and really helped out with my cats' illnesses. Dr. Krick figured out what caused one of their hair loss (food and seasonal allergies) as well as removed 7 rotten teeth from my other cat due to dental disease. He is a very personable, caring doctor and I recommend him to anyone coming in to the office.

I couldn't believe it but never went back as I didn't want to "bother" them with medical questions about my dogs meds. God forbid you call your vet with a question! Fast forward to yesterday. My employee who is 21 yo took on a geriatric dog for a friend. For a year he card for and loved this dog who also had cancer. Yesterday it was time to make the worst decision ever because the dog had started to become uncomfortable. Being it was about 5:30 pm I googled local vets to see if we could find someone open to take care of the euthanasia. I saw that Parkview was open until 7, so figured I'd give them a call. I mean how could they screw up putting a dog down, right? So I call...they answer...I ask what the charge is for euthanasia and that I have a dog who is suffering. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THE ANSWER I GET!!!! Are you ready? "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that but we aren't taking any new patients" WTF??? New patient????? They would see the dog once to put him down and then never again! Not one single ounce of compassion or a care in the world. They are in the WRONG business. SHAME ON THEM! Stay away, far away. Absolutely disgusting!

Dr. Dolin nd his team at Essex have been treating our pets for over four years. When it was time for us to get pet visas so that we could take them to France, we relied on them to help us. We were in great hands! We discussed what we wanted to do with Dr. Dolin several months in advance. He explained what the process was: vaccination requirements, the importance of properly timing them, the paperwork involved, how to best to prepare them for the trip and what to do during the trip to keep them comfortable. The office scheduled the vaccination and follow up appointments for us for all 4 pets. Once our pets had all of their vaccinations, Dr. Dolin filled out all of the paperwork and told us how we should post the applications to Albany. Everything went swimmingly. If you need passports, it is really important to work with a vet who is familiar with the process. Essex are pros at this!

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.

Nurse Sierra has been wonderful too following up to check on us! After thorough examinations and many conversations, ensuring I understood everything, I was very impressed as I always have been! I love that they accept true companion, which pays direct if you have that insurance. They gave me a puppy goodie bag loaded with all kinds of stuff more than I've ever been given before. They are assisting me very well, keeping very detailed notes and providing me whatever I need. Offering advice whenever I call as we get through healing the puppy. My only caveat is prices are outrageous when it comes to spaying. I asked for a quote on a 65 pound one year-old golden doodle and with blood work and they are asking for $1600 and that is not even laparoscopy spraying, which they no longer do as I was told nobody has the training for it. That's quite disappointing as that's a ridiculous price. Most insurance companies will only give you back $250 and some only give you $100 and some don't even cover it at all. Sadly , I will not be proceeding with spaying here like I used to and we'll have to find a different hospital that is cheaper. I've already called around and found another for half the price. I did enjoy also that I didn't have to go to reception to pay. They quickly texted me a link while I was in the room with the doctor and I was able to pay right there off my phone. I still highly recommend this hospital and it is still my first choice.
