Been going here for 3 years and they won't give me an appropriate appointment for my dog who needs his shots. They send out notices that say call 12 weeks out and I was a little late so now they offer me an appointment 4 months away. Seems like they're trying to get rid of their old clients. Why can't I choose negative stars? I used Parkview 20 years ago and thought they were the bomb. Until one day when I had questions about my dogs medication I left messages with no return calls. After 4 calls, I got a call back scolding me for "bothering" them. This was doctor Staubach. I couldn't believe it but never went back as I didn't want to "bother" them with medical questions about my dogs meds. God forbid you call your vet with a question! Fast forward to yesterday. My employee who is 21 yo took on a geriatric dog for a friend. For a year he card for and loved this dog who also had cancer. Yesterday it was time to make the worst decision ever because the dog had started to become uncomfortable. Being it was about 5:30 pm I googled local vets to see if we could find someone open to take care of the euthanasia. I saw that Parkview was open until 7, so figured I'd give them a call. I mean how could they screw up putting a dog down, right? So I call...they answer...I ask what the charge is for euthanasia and that I have a dog who is suffering. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THE ANSWER I GET!!!! Are you ready? "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that but we aren't taking any new patients" WTF??? New patient????? They would see the dog once to put him down and then never again! Not one single ounce of compassion or a care in the world. They are in the WRONG business. SHAME ON THEM! Stay away, far away. Dr. Guerrero is knowledgeable, a good communicator in terms of providing explanations of diagnoses and providing treatment options. She also has a good bedside manner with my dog. Unfortunately, the office staff is a reflection of a poorly managed practice. The staff is often short, discourteous, and unorganized -- specifically confusing dates of appointments or my dog's name, misplacing records, not reviewing the chart before follow-ups. The staff's surliness and inefficiency are likely also due to the practice being overextended. Even though I have decided to shop for a new vet, fingers crossed that they will be able to get their house in order and go back to delivering great customer service with excellent veterinary care. read more

Been going to this vet for several years. I left a review several months ago that this vet did not call me back, even though I called with an urgent situation. They read my Yelp review, called back, and asked that I take the review down. I did. Flash forward several months to this past week and once again, I had an urgent situation and they didn't call me back. I had to resort to going to emergency vets 3 times in a single week. Last night I learned from an emergency vet that my dog has terminal cancer. What is the use of having a non-emergency vet if that refuse to call you back? Pretty disgusted that the only call-back I get is when I leave a completely accurate Yelp review. They read their online reviews but don't listen to their messages? The vets are good here but the front office staff needs to be fired. If I could give 0 stars I would. My dog was diagnosed with Heartworm Disease. I made an appointment 6 weeks prior to have my dog undergo her first treatment. I was walking out the door with my dog to get to the appointment and I received a call telling me "sorry, we need to cancel your appointment, the medication didn't come in." Heartworm can be fatal if left untreated and time was definitely of the essence. Luckily, I was able to get an appointment at another clinic and my dog was successfully treated. I can tell you that if Dr. Staubach was still running the practice, this would have never happened. Gross incompetence. read more

I've been going to Parkview Animal Hospital since my dog was a wee puppy 8 years ago. I did a lot of research for different local vets and decided here was the best in terms of reviews and recommendations and experience of when I went to their offices. But in the more recent visits, the prices have gone up every time. It's really concerning because I would love to stay here but if this continues, I won't be able to afford taking my dog here. I've begun to research on the average pricing of services and looked into other vet practices prices and was alarmed as to high they're getting to be here at Parkview. My dog was brought in ($65) and was found to have a fever. He was given fluids, an anti inflammatory injection, an ampicillin injectable, bloodwork ($139), and a tick born disease test kit. Everything came up to $360, which was a lot more than I came in expecting to spend, even with treatment. With that said, I feel like the staff cares a lot for their patients and discuss things with the owners which I think is really great. If only there could be coupons or price guarantee for existing patients, like whatever the price was for a wellness exam when they first came would stay the same until that patient is no longer their patient, or even a price match would really really help!! read more

When my boyfriend & I got our first puppy we didn't have a vet of our own since it was our first pet together. We wanted to have Dex seen ASAP for his puppy shots & initial visit to make sure he was healthy. It was the week of 4th of July weekend & the first 2 vets we called couldn't see us for another 2 weeks so I decided to call Parkview -- they squeezed us in on Friday before the 4th & I'm so glad they did! The staff here is awesome. The girls at the front desk are super helpful, and Dexy loves all the loving and attention he gets from them when we're there. We primarily see Dr. Guerrero (she's the bomb!) and Dex LOVES her, but we've also seen Dr. Kahn a few times and she's amazing as well. Being a first time dog mom, I always freak out over the smallest things & these 2 ladies are never annoyed by my multitude of questions or concerns -- I literally had a LIST of questions at our initial visit & Dr. Khan answered them all. Dexy's now almost a year old & we're so thankful to have Parkview as our vet. I recommend them to everyone without hesitation. Only con to the office is the teeny tiny parking lot but it's nothing serious enough to stop us from coming here. read more

I called late Friday afternoon and mentioned my 11 year old lab fell down two steps trying to go outside to pee and was injured. I thought she probably sprained her leg. I was told the vets had left for the day and though they had hours on Sunday, there currently was no appointment available. I was provided info on urgent care places in the area. I called one on Saturday morning and was told to call my vet on Sunday and come in if I couldn't get an appointment. Sunday the receptionist at Parkview offered to speak with Dr. Kahn and called me back. Thankfully, Dr. Kahn was willing to stay late and I could come in at 1pm. I brought my Baylee in and Dr. Kahn did an evaluation, took an xray and showed me my dog had a fracture high on her femur. Not typical for the kind of fall. She and her staff contacted about eight emergency facilities in NJ. She was concerned and wanted my dog to be seen immediately (most were not available before Tues or Wed). On my behalf she inquired about the cost, too. She gave Baylee pain meds and I left. I went from Passaic to Fairfield and Baylee was escorted in immediately. Dr. Ilardi called me and said she needed to take more xrays and do bloodwork before scheduling surgery for the next day. Sadly, my story doesn't end the way I would have preferred. I rec'd a call and was told my loving dog had bone cancer and it was also in her lungs. They could not do surgery. My daughter and I immediately went in to comfort her. We held back tears so Baylee didn't pick up our anxiety and sadness. Baylee kept trying lick my hands and face and her eyes said I love you. I miss her deeply. At Parkview, Dr. Kahn and her staff showed much compassion and went above and beyond to help Baylee and me. I am truly very grateful. read more

Price quote completely misleading. I recently was due to come in for rabies and another shot. A friend informed me that fire station in town was giving out free rabies shots so I considered bringing there instead. When I called park view to inquire about the fee for their rabies shot wax told a very low cost(under $30). When my pet was there they made me wait in parking lot due to Covid restrictions. They called me during the few minutes he was inside and asked if I'd like like his nails cut. I said sure assuming it was going to be done for free (my two prior pets always had nails cut for free during vet visits). Turns out my bill was almost $200 ! Be careful with them.....there have been a few negative reviews since new ownership has been in place. Get specifics on prices, office visit fees etc before you give them the green light to do anything. I will shop a new vet going forward. read more

Only vet I would take my pup to. I've been coming here for a bit now, tried a bunch of different vets out for my previous dog, found this one and it has been my go to place ever since. My Yorkie had lots of issues because of old age. He had a really bad skin infection to the point where he was literally scratching his neck raw. I came here and met Dr. Kahn. She was so helpful, knowledgeable, so incredibly patient, and did everything she could to help my dog get better. She ran so many different tests on him and explained everything to me so I understood what was happening. When many other vets were just giving up on him, Dr. Kahn took her time and followed up with me very often, and really helped him live as long as he possibly could. My dog was very scared going to any vet. He got aggressive and needed a muzzle whenever he was getting shots, blood work done, or any other tests done. After coming here several times, he was getting calmer and let the staff run tests with minimal issues, sometimes even without a muzzle. They were always very gentle with him and made him feel comfortable. Unfortunately, he passed away in October, but he didn't suffer as much as he did prior to coming here, so for that I am very very thankful. I just got a new pup two weeks ago, and I set up an appointment for his initial exam with Dr. Khan right away. We just went in to see her yesterday and she remembered all about my other dog's medicine and treatments, to which we will be starting Bowser on now because of a paw injury. She clearly cares about all her patients and it shows. Bowser, since he is a rescue, is quite scared of new people. He had no problems going up to Dr. Kahn right away though and let her do whatever she had to do during his check up. I really wouldn't go anywhere else and I would recommend anyone looking for a vet to come here. I have nothing but great things to say about this office, the staff, and the doctors. read more

I can't believe in all my years of coming here I never thought to review this place. Parkview animal hospital is hands down the most reasonable, excellent, and caring veterinary practice I've ever been to (and will ever go to). Nuts to bolts this place gives fair, reasonable, honest treatment to their patients. I had a beagle for 14 years that we brought here his entire life and I continue to bring my two mini doxies to the practice. Dr. Staubach and Dr. Guerrero are truly a testament to the practice of veterinary medicine as well as genuine people. I can't say enough good things about them. As long as I am able to bring my little men here I will do so. I recommend every person with a furry loved one to come here, and anyone that takes my recommendation thanks me profusely after visiting here. Another plus is that it is a bilingual practice. When you leave after your visits you truly feel that you were advised to do what is in the best and most reasonable interest of your animal, NOT what's in the best interest of the dr's wallets. I have been going here for years. Dr. Staubach is truly the best vet I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgable, compassionate, and caring. Every time I have an appointment with him he answers all of my questions, provides options for treatment, and is respectful of my treatment choices. Additionally, he takes the time to explain EVERYTHING and I NEVER feel rushed. Aside from the obvious care Dr. Staubach demonstrates with each pet, Dr. Staubach is known for discussing all treatment/medication options with cost in mind. It is not uncommon for Dr. S to say, "I can write you a script for this medication, or you can also just go to the local pharmacy and buy this cheaper over-the-counter version." If that's an option of course. I have limited experience with the other doctors just because I have been seeing Dr. S for years but all doctors seem to take great care of their clients and are very professional. Every time I have referred a friend there, I hear nothing but amazing feedback and my friends become clients for life at Parkview. We have been taking our two rescue dogs to Park View Veterinary Hospital since they were puppies, going on seven years now. We researched vets online and decided to try Park View Veterinary Hospital based on their reviews. BEST DECISION EVER!!!! From the initial call with Kelly who put our minds at ease to the interaction with Casey and Dr. Malathy Rao who went into complete detail with every step by step process, we knew we had made the right choice. We could immediately tell that everybody involved with Park View Veterinary Hospital was not at work because it was a job to them, but rather it was a labor of love. They do not just rush you in and out for the money, they actually spend time to get to know you and your pets. One of our rescues had a medical condition that was scary and stressful to us, but with the knowledge and constant reassurance during the testing phase, Dr. Malathy Rao helped eliminate our fears and kept us focused on a positive path forward. It did not just stop at office visits, but continued with follow-up calls and visits that were full of love for our puppies. I have never seen two dogs so happy to go to the vet for their annual shots and check-ups as our dogs are, even during the pandemic. Without telling him much of what occurred, he was able to give me detailed information about my dog's health, even giving me an approx. age for my pup based on his teeth. All 3 doctors here are amazing. Reception can sometimes be a little cold, but they're busy so I understand. All 4 of my pets go here and even though I've had the unfortunate situation of having to put a dog and a cat down, they were caring and empathetic and warm when we needed them. Their prices are reasonable - we don't have pet insurance and they are kind enough to take that into consideration when making recommendations. I feel very lucky to have found them all. Been taking my dog and cats there for many years. We were always happy with the great service and reasonable prices .Dr. Staubach was so nice and such a pleasure to deal with. He has sold the practice and the new people there have raised all the prices . There is nothing like an office visit for a normal fee. The last few times I declined to do all the unnecessary test they wanted to do and pets were fine with the things that were needed.They try to make you agree to a laundry list of tests for extra of money. We agreed to have a procedure done with tests and grooming bill was 625.00 . extremely high. They also they clipped over dogs eye and it needed to be sutured . Needless to say .We will never will go back after years as a good customer. read more

I've never met a veterinarian that was as afraid of dogs as Dr. Guerrero. Our 2 year old Shepherd mix is a very sweet boy with a calm demeanor and is well socialized. He's been there before and there have been no problems with his behavior. Yet despite this, she made us muzzle him during a routine physical exam because German shepherds are "fear biters." The only thing making him fearful was Dr. Guerrero and her muzzle. Despite our objections to the muzzle, explaining has never required a muzzle from other doctors, always been great with veterinary visits and being examined, she insisted on the muzzle. It made both me and my dog very uncomfortable. I could see the fear in my dogs eyes and it was heartbreaking. I understand not wanting to get bit by a large breed dog. Still, this dog nor any of the several other dogs I have had in my life have been muzzled at their veterinary visits. It may be standard practice for some, but I strongly prefer a veterinarian that doesn't fear performing routine examinations on my dog. Had this been a review of my prior visits with Dr Staubach it would be 5 stars. Dr Guerrero should stick with cats. read more

I should have written this review a while ago. Dr. "Jerry Garcia" as I would call him- was always friendly and funny. We trusted him with all our animals. This is why we were heart broken--- when our family dog had an emergency and we wanted him to see her before we took her to another for surgery. My father called and the office said he couldn't see her Bc he was leaving early. My father explained that he just wanted him to see her for a quick minute (my mom just passed away and my father was very nervous that now his "baby" was sick). Well not only did dr staubach not see her, he called my father the next day saying he did not want him coming back (mind you he knew my mom- my dad's wife of 50 years just passed away) Yes- maybe my father was a little persistent trying to insist on seeing him but - this was his baby after all. And he was doing it Bc he trusted dr staubach. We have been going to him for years. All dr staubach had to do was take 5 minutes- even just 3 minutes - to look at our dog. He did not care enough to do that. To go the extra step-- So beware-- a great -fun personality is what you get when you see him with your paying wallet but an uncaring dr is what lies behind that fake personality. To me- a true dedicated dr- professional- would have taken a minute out of his day--- so laugh and smile with him all you want but know he wouldn't be there for you in an emergency - We now have a vet who is not only there when needed- but also provides his personal cell number for emergencies. read more

A few months ago my dog was having an emergency so I called the office that I always take my dogs to. I called the office at 1pm and I was told that they weren't taking any emergency patients and to call Oradell hospital. I begged them to take my dog because I trusted them and I told them he could see any doctor that was available and they still said no. They said they don't take call in's or walk in's. Everyone needed an appointment and they could put me on the cancellation list for the following week. HELLO I JUST SAID IT IS AN EMERGENCY!! You can't call yourself an animal HOSPITAL if you are strictly by appointment only. call yourself a veterinary office but not hospital. I have been using Parkview Animal Hospital for the last 7 years. Dr Staubach was recommended to us from our groomer when my regular vet was on sabbatical due to an illness. Our dog needed surgery and we were facing a new vet and he was astounding. No fear. Just approached our very large dog and picked her up with sweetness in his voice and our dog responded to that. The surgery went smoothly and the staff , the technicians were outstanding. Spending extra time with her because she is skittish. A bond was made that day. And the price for surgery was far less then our last vet. They did everything to keep costs down but still kept very high standards of treatment. Our dog needed to be put down recently and Dr Guerra' whom I didn't know well was so professional and loving to my whole family. Our dog was made comfortable and we were able to say goodbye under the best care and circumstances. Karen the technician was our dogs buddy and the love was mutual. I cannot recommend them any more highly . They even sent a donation in our dogs name to the Seeing Eye Foundation. Who does that? We felt special for sure. Thank you Parkview. If. Someone recommended them to me as I really thought my last vet was ripping me off. Every visit seemed to be $300+. I had been looking for a new vet for a while and all the places I looked at had bad or very mixed reviews. I looked this one up and was shocked at how positive the reviews were. Seriously they had all 5 stars on Yelp. I went and now I can see why. The care is excellent (I've used Dr. Staubach and Dr. Kahn, both great) and the prices were very reasonable. Last week, I made an appointment at Park View Animal Hospital because I believed one of my cats had an ear infection. The earliest appointment (due to the holidays) was today. As a first time patient, (the practice was highly recommended to me by a few people) I could not have been happier with a Veterinarian, or overall experience. Dr. David Staubach is an incredible Vet, who obviously really loves what he does. He was so gentle and loving with my cat and also, super informative. He answered all of our questions so completely. What usually turns out to be a stressful experience for both my cat, my boyfriend and I, turned out to be just the opposite. I could not have been any more pleased with the experience overall. I have been taking my animals here for year. After Dr. Staubach left, the service has been short and less sympathetic towards last minute emergencies. I understand that there are other emergency type vets but when an emergency happens people want a vet that they are comfortable with and have been going to for years. The other day, my pet had an emergency and the woman who answered the phone was dry and not very compassionate towards what was happening. She kept saying that they did not have anything available until 11am, I understand that people have appointments but given my dog has been a patient for years you think they would be more understanding in times of need. Needless to say, I found and took my dog to another vet, that was understanding to my dogs needs. I love love love Parkview! I've been going there for years. First with my cats and now dogs. Dr Dave, the other Vets and the rest of the staff can make and your pet feel comfortable. They spend the time needed with you. Just this past week our little dog Rocky came in from the yard shaking uncontrollably. He didn't get much sleep (and neither did I). He was still shaking in the am. I was so happy to get in to see a Dr that day. Rocky was diagnosed with a sprained back. He got some meds and is now on the mend.
