Dex loves Dr. G, Dr. Kahn & all the girls at the desk that give him lovin whenever he comes in!
Marta N.

When my boyfriend & I got our first puppy we didn't have a vet of our own since it was our first pet together. We wanted to have Dex seen ASAP for his puppy shots & initial visit to make sure he was healthy. It was the week of 4th of July weekend & the first 2 vets we called couldn't see us for another 2 weeks so I decided to call Parkview -- they squeezed us in on Friday before the 4th & I'm so glad they did! The staff here is awesome. The girls at the front desk are super helpful, and Dexy loves all the loving and attention he gets from them when we're there. We primarily see Dr. Guerrero (she's the bomb!) and Dex LOVES her, but we've also seen Dr. Kahn a few times and she's amazing as well. Being a first time dog mom, I always freak out over the smallest things & these 2 ladies are never annoyed by my multitude of questions or concerns -- I literally had a LIST of questions at our initial visit & Dr. Khan answered them all. Dexy's now almost a year old & we're so thankful to have Parkview as our vet. I recommend them to everyone without hesitation. Only con to the office is the teeny tiny parking lot but it's nothing serious enough to stop us from coming here.

I was recommended him my girl's old vet in Queens who didn't do visits in Manhattan and I cannot begin to say how lucky we are to have found him. I have been to so many vets over the years with my fur babies, some who look at you like a checkbook, to the point of telling me "maybe you should go elsewhere" when her nerves got the best of her (I'm looking at you Animal Medical Center) and others who put the needs of the animal above all else. He not only put my Leia's needs front and center but his care and compassion for the pet's companions, I can't say we're owners, was above and beyond. He gave my girl five more good years of life. Dealt with all my stupid questions and emails with patience and care. And he was here to gently ease her on her way. Anyone who needs a vet to take care of their furbaby. Please reach out to him. He was only five years old so even though our time together was short, he brought more love and joy into my life than I ever thought possible. I first contacted Paws at Peace a few months before I ultimately had to make the decision. Colleen was my first point of contact, and from the very beginning she was warm, patient, and understanding that I was still trying to figure out whether it was the right time. At that time March, Applesauce thankfully still had some good days ahead of him. But by May, he had slowed down significantly and was in a lot of pain so I knew it was time. Dr. Zhu came to our home and was so kind, compassionate, and gentle in a way that made an incredibly heavy moment feel just a little lighter. She never rushed anything and gave us extra time with him, which was something I had been so afraid wouldn't happen. She asked about his favorite toys, and in his final moments I found myself reminiscing about him with her as if she were a friend who had known us both for years, even though we had just met. After he passed, he was wrapped in a beautiful blanket and placed in a basket. I carried him down the stairs and brought him to the car for cremation. Saying goodbye to him was heartbreaking beyond words, but the way Dr. Zhu handled every step was so thoughtful and tender that I feel deeply grateful he was in such caring hands. I truly feel so thankful that my vet recommended Paws at Peace to me. They even followed up afterward with a beautiful card and continued support, which meant more than I could express. In such an unbearable moment, they made me feel held, supported, and cared for throughout. They helped make one of the hardest days of our lives a little more bearable and surrounded by so much love and compassion.

She did not rush through and was gentle with our cat and with us. Paws at Peace offers some extras (a paw print and a bit of fur in a little jar) in addition to cremation options. I initially thought these things were silly but I am glad we got them. It was easy to make the arrangements. We called at 8 AM and got a same day appointment. We got a text of the expected time and an update when there was a very slight delay. We got a follow up text the next day, with an offer for grief support. This is a well run organization. They know what they are doing. Best of all, they did not cause any additional grief to what was already a very sad day.

From the very beginning, it was clear this is a family-owned place run with compassion and integrity. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye, and they did it in the most humble and comforting way possible. If you are ever in the painful position of needing these services, I cannot recommend them enough. They go far beyond just providing a service. We knew that we wanted to have her cremated as we had done we other pets that had passed through the years. We had dealt with another crematory in the past through our vet(s) and were nt happy with the recent reviews that they'd been getting. After some research we came upon your crematory and were happy with what we were reading about other people's experiences. We called that morning and spoke to Marisol who was very sympathetic, informative, and respectful. She gave us an appointment right away. We drove to them in Secaucus from Brooklyn and when we arrived Marisol met us at the door. She and Mariah were very polite, understanding, and accommodating. They took our Oreo and placed her on a bed surrounded by flowers and gave us some time alone to say our goodbyes. Marisol then waked us through the cremation process and showed us where it would be done and guaranteed us that it would only be Oreo's ashes that we would be receiving. We were given the opportunity to be present for Oreo's cremation. Ultimately Oreo's ashes were returned to us in less than 2 hours and were were able to bring her back home with us same day. They made this sad morning easier to get through. Along with Oreo's ashes we received a beautiful wooden box to keep her in with an engraved brass pate attached, a certificate allowing us to travel with her ashes, a wooden beaded bracelet, her paw print in clay with 2 gems attached, a stand for her paw print, a rose that lights up, and a notebook with the Rainbow Bridge poem on the cover. We were overwhelmed by all that we were given and the wonderful service that we were provided by Marisol and Mariah. We highly recommend Pet Rest in Peace to any loving pet owner.

In the 7 years since I've had my dog, this is one of the longest times we've spent apart. And it's the most peace of mind I've felt since I've had him. DotCom has a very hard time with visitors in the home, but sending him away or to boarding was not an option - he's a tricky dog who doesn't always like other dogs or people, and I was concerned about the respiratory illness going around. Lauren hand-selected one of her sitters for me, Bridget, and repeatedly reassured me until my flight took off that she and Bridget could handle whatever DotCom threw at them. DotCom did not disappoint; on top of his usual loud and persistent barking, he got an upset stomach while I was gone. And of course, Bridget, with the support of Lauren, exceeded my every expectation. Bridget navigated his chaos like a ninja, as if he was an easy, well-adjusted dog. Like it was nothing. When I got home, DotCom was happy to see me, but after quickly greeting me, he got back on the couch to cuddle with Bridget! This is nothing short of miraculous from a dog who has about 5 people he truly, truly trusts. Bridget and Lauren are gifts to people and their pets, especially those of us with difficult dogs who aren't easy to love. Not only did Bridget take care of my dog like he was her own difficult son, she took out my trash, ran my dishwasher, and picked up my packages. I can't even begin to thank her and Lauren enough. I wish I could keep this to myself and never share them, but dogs and their people deserve to know about Sit, Stay, Stella.

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.
