Cashier was efficient and got the order in quickly. We had our ice creams right away and waited a couple minutes for the sandwich. Our ice cream was tasty. Not as creamy as others are but good overall. I took a bite of the chicken sandwich and it tasted like a Dave chickens spicy sandwich. The spicy was pretty spicy. Not a sandwich that I could finish or would be able to finish. Found a booth to sit in and enjoyed our food. Plenty of tables. Place was empty so not hard to find a place to sit. I took my 2 grandchildren for lunch today. 8 and 6 years old. My grandson got a chicken sandwich meal with an up charge for a small shake. My granddaughter got a mini corn dog meal with the shake as well. They both wanted the waffle fries. There's an up charge for those as well. I did not eat. I just got a small soda. It's a 6 oz cup for $3.49 plus a $.10 cup charge. They also charge $.10 each for the cups with the meals. It was over $37.00. The employees were very pleasant. The banana split was ok but small, especially considering it cost a little less than $8.00. The machine to make the dipped cone was not working, but we weren't told that until the employee handed me the cone. I told him "that's supposed to be dipped in chocolate." His response? "It's not working." The reason I'm only giving it two stars, however, is because when I finished the banana split, I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and the soap dispenser was bone dry. They have a sign up in the drive through at the window to wear a mask while being served which is more than ok but you can't read the sign bc when the window open (often is) the sign is obstructed. They also put massive amounts of mustard if you ask for mustard only. Which I know is basically here's your FKN mustard. Rude. You would think because they charge premium prices for their food, the food would be of equal quality. We upgraded upgraded all our meals to waffle fries, which was a waste of money because the oil in the fryer is long overdue to be changed so they tasted awful. We were puzzled as to why the buns were so greasy, do they set the cooked patties on the paper before the completed burger is wrapped? And all the burgers were slathered in sauce when no extra sauce was requested. They made a cheeseburger when a hamburger was ordered, and the cheese was impossible to take off because the hamburger was overloaded with sauce. Their smiles and willingness to help this undecided couple was refreshing. Normally at joints like this we get a funny look and a "do you know what you want?"... not this time. I want to VERY CLEAR this review is for the non soft serve treats side of this 50+ year old fast food chain. It's been years since I've had a hamburger from Fosters Freeze. So I stop in a little after lunch and the place is pretty quiet. Only ONE person dining in. The rest of the passing crowd were coming and going licking their ice cream treats on this 90+ degree October day. I went up to the counter and told the very "odd" older guy...who's got to be one of the oldest fast food order takers...I haven't eaten a hamburger here in ages. He told me in these words..."oh, well then you're in for a real treat.!" in a Forrest Gump sort of way. I was waiting for a fast food jingle to come over the loud speakers...hmmm. So, I end up ordering the "Classic" combo. Well, my memory may not be what is used to be but I know that this burger seemed larger in size in years past visits. I mean remove the mound of lettuce, tomato slice, and cup of goo and you have your basic "kids" 1/8 oz hamburger an order of fries and a medium drink for $4.99 (plus tax). Maybe I should have gone with the "Little Fosters Kids meal"...would have gotten a toy and the cheaper price. WORST SERVICE EVER! The teenage girls that work there were so rude to us, yelling at us for not wearing a mask when we got to the window. We were not aware that we needed one in our car, but happily obliged to put on one even though we were treated so nasty.
