The food was good, but nothing special. The salsa is watery. I do prefer a chunkier salsa, especially with chips. The drinks are very good as well as the wine selection, so maybe that is an option.

I was there on Friday and put on the wait list 3+1 child was told 30 min wait time I waited and noticed people who arrived after my family being sat I went to ask the Host and she was super rude and the Manger Darin just stood there didn't say anything watched the host scream at Me. Because I was asking a simple question why I was getting passed up? Then out come a Server who was also the Bartender Angie (what she introduced her self to me /receipt says Angelica) and she stepped in and took charge she apologized for all the confusion and sat us right away and he took our order and made our night GREAT again. My husband made it a point when we were done and the manger was talking to her at the bar he went up to her and said thank you for making our night great and giving our daughter a little extra attention Next time we come hopefully you are the manger as you know what to do and treat customer. This place sucks yet we keep coming up because it's one of the few places to come late at night in Watsonville. We ordered 2 Chicken tortillas soups , they were out. I guess the server forgot to take it out of our bills. When we noticed we were still been charged for them they had already charged our credit card. When we let our server know she came back and said they couldn't do a refund because they would charge our credit cards twice ?? Usually applebees isn't my favorite place to go to but our server jonothan made it worth it. At first I was disappointed that the host seated us all the way in the back of the restaurant but I was glad she did because of our amazing server. He's a tall young man he's kind of a dork but he's hilarious and was super friendly! The guy saved us lots of money by showing us the 2 for 20 deal they have instead of ordering our appetizers and steaks individually. Definitely hope jonothan is our server again! read more

We like to support local family run businesses and the food has been good in the past. The wait staff are consistently friendly and mostly competent. We've been pleased that when asked about gluten-free options each time, the waiters know about 90% of the menu off the top of their heads and aren't afraid to say they need to ask the kitchen when there's an item they're not sure about, rather than guess the answer, as has happened at other restaurants. Saturday we had a group of 8 that were seated at 4:45, so not exactly rush hour. We finally had to ask for water after 15 min. It was close to an hour from when we placed our orders before the food began arriving. I had informed the waiter of an onion allergy and requested no onions anywhere on the plate, as well as subbing extra veggies for the pasta. My food arrived with onions throughout the veggies. While I appreciate that they quickly took the plate back to fix it, the new plate had only a single serving of veggies which were so undercooked that even with the steak knife if was difficult to cut, and not great to chew either. I quickly gave up and saved it to finish cooking at home. Another guest ordered the tuna fresh catch rare, and it arrived between medium and medium rare, which was quite disappointing. But at least his veggies were closer to al dente. Another small irritation was that they brought out bread and olive oil, but there were only 5 pieces for our group of 8 so we asked for another one for our end of the table, and they charged us. While we recognized many staff as longtime employees, both the food and the service didn't live up to previous visits, which is even more disappointing because we brought new people to experience their food. Given this experience, it'll probably be awhile before we go back.
