I called Ira on a Thursday morning, and he happened to be in the area and was able to come out the very same day. That kind of responsiveness is hard to find. I had called several other companies, and not only was Ira the most responsive, but his pricing was also the fairest. For the quality of work you receive, the value is outstanding. His crew was professional, efficient, and treated our property with care and respect. They worked safely, communicated well, and left everything incredibly clean. Every bit of debris was removed, and you would hardly know they had just taken down large trees. As someone who's constantly busy, I really appreciated not having to worry about cleanup or follow-up. What impressed me even more was that they even came on a weekend to help keep the project moving, and they finished exactly when they said they would. It's refreshing to work with a company that actually does what they promise. Believe it or not, it was fascinating watching the crew work. They were clearly experienced, worked well together, and even managed to keep smiles on their faces throughout the job. That says a lot about the company and the people Ira has on his team. We said not to touch our neighbor's tree because it provided shade in our backyard. Because they rushed the job, they were careless. They cut some of the branches of my neighbor's tree making it look asymmetrical now. They are two different trees so you can't mistake one for the other. They broke a trellis, a water feature and cracked several slate slabs because they carelessly dropped chunks of the tree trunk instead of lowering them carefully. The workers were thoughtlessly stepping on plants, putting tools on top of plants. I had to mention the damage to Lauren the owner. Her business partner Wilfredo said nothing to me that damage was done as if it was acceptable to break things in the process. I was beginning to be sorry I hired them at this point because they still had to remove the stump. They were scheduled to come the next day. My wife was waiting in the 90-degree heat outside to save a parking space for their truck and equipment when they arrived. They didn't show. I received no call or text. I called and they cancelled because they were running late with another job. They came the next day to finish the stump and bring the replacement items that they damaged which was a clay pot which was part of the water feature and the slate that was damaged. I was at work and my wife in good faith paid them in full because they said they replaced the slate tiles. When I came home from work, I saw that they brought the wrong tiles and the wrong size and just took tiles from where the tree was removed and replaced the broken ones with them and still there were broken tiles. Nothing was replaced. I decided to let the trellis and water feature go because they weren't serious about fixing this and I wanted these people out of my life. I noticed a couple of days later on my neighbor's tree that there was a tree limb dangerously hanging by a thread and was about to fall. I brought it to W&L's attention being that they caused it. W&L said it was pre-existing damage which was baloney because the break in the tree limb was fresh looking. The limb fell a few days later. If you look on their website, there are two phone numbers, only one works, and it is Lauren's direct cell phone number. There is no official business number. I was going to let this whole thing go, but I don't want other people to go through this. I understand it was a very hot week, and it is very hard work, but it's the owners that are solely responsible for overseeing the work that is being done. K & D came in much lower than the other 2 quotes I had received and my neighbor opted to just have the trees removed due to the low cost. I booked a date for the removal only a few days in advance and the crew showed up on time and got to work. A fence panel had to be removed from my neighbor's fence, as one of the trees was located in the back yard, and the crew removed and replaced the panel without damaging it at all. They ground out the stumps and cleaned up everything very nicely. I was honestly a little worried about the quality of work that we would receive based on such a low quote, but was very pleasantly surprised when it was all said and done. We were very disappointed in the way we were treated by this company. They were referred to us by a…read morevery reputable company, and so we felt we were in good hands. We were mistaken. We had a very large spruce tree that had died located near the curb and close to PSEG electrical wires. We called La May for an estimate to remove the tree, cart away the debris, and grind the stump. We were given an estimate. We discussed with LaMay the possibility of PSEG cutting the tree to below the wire line, and LaMay completing the job. Well, PSEG did come, spent two hours cutting the tree below the power line and left the debris on our lawn and that of our neighbor. I notified LaMay that PSEG had cut the tree and left the debris and requested they come to complete the job - cut the trunk of the tree, cart the debris, and grind the stump. I was assured that the original estimate would be modified because PSEG did a big part of the job. Well, it wasn't! LaMay did not like the way PSEG left the debris! They were hoping to sell part of our tree as a telephone pole and now they couldn't! They claimed they sent me a new estimate, which I never received. LaMay did come and competently removed the debris and cut the remainder of the tree trunk. BUT they wanted us to pay the original estimate even though 1/3 of the job was completed by PSEG. After arguing with La May repeatedly, we reluctantly agreed on a price. Rather than accept 2/3 of the original estimate, they wanted more. Will never do business with this company again.

Freakin' AMAZING!…read more Sometimes trimming or removing a tree can change your life (or even save it). We had two gigantic (100 ft) pines behind our home, which has a small backyard. These are our neighbors' trees and they encroached on our side, leaving us with millions of needles, thousands of pine cones and sap everywhere. We also faced roof and gutter damage and less sun in the backyard.. It was progressively disgusting! Recently, one showed signs of dying, with many branches brown and needles falling in a continual rain. We informed the neighbor, but as these branches were on our side, they were our responsibility to deal with. So, that is what we did. Any branch pointing toward our home needed to be trimmed - all the way up. We searched for a tree trimming service who could trim the pines all the way up and found LaMay's Tree Service, in Huntington, New York. The first reason we called LaMay's was that they had trucks with Cherry-Pickers. You'll see this device in the photos, but a cherry-picker is the thing you'll see a power company use to get to the lines on a pole - a person sits in a basket that sits at the end of an arm which extends up. Our thinking was that a cherry-picker was the only way we were going to get to the tip-top of these trees - and we felt we had sufficient access to the backyard so that a cherry-picker could get right back there (but we were unsure of that part - and could it extend high enough..100 ft is pretty high). Jason from LaMay's arrived and we were immediately impressed. This is a genuine "Tree Guy", and he knows the business of tree trimming. He looked at the trees and pointed out that they were in decline - he noted that eventually they needed to come down (or they would fall down) - We wanted it down sooner (like immediately - at least on our side). Just by sight, Jason assessed their truck could enter the backyard, and plywood would be used to protect the lawn. But the most amazing thing was that Jason, on his own, walked over to our neighbors, knocked on the door and explained the situation and requested permission to trim the branches back to the tree trunk, which he instructed was the right way to do the job - rather than leaving branch segments that stopped at the property line. Whatever he said to the neighbor, Jason returned with a Big Thumbs Up. What a relief! I think we hired LaMay's and Jason just because he did that one part - He talked to the neighbors for us! You might not know, but tree issues are the root of many a neighbor dispute - but Jason handled that with ease and professionalism - LaMay's was hired! They arrived a few days later (just Jason and TWO workers) with a HUGE truck and we wondered if there were more workers coming - this was no small job - and we wondered whether the truck would really fit through our backyard entrance way. The truck driver and other fellow navigated the truck with ease and within minutes, there was a BIG truck with a cherry-picker parked in our backyard. I observed that the truck fit by a matter of fractions of an inch. How Jason knew it would fit only further amazed me. So one guy strapped up and got into the cherry-picker, the other remained on the ground to collect the branches and feed them into the chopper. TWO GUYS - JUST TWO - that is all it took. And within 2.5 hours, they were done and cleaned out our yard of all debris. (Oh and they trimmed a few other trees as well.) We could not be happier! WOW - just like that. Our lives have changed. No more branches and plenty of sun. No more needles, cones, and now I can clean the gutters ONCE a year rather than the SIX to TEN times I was doing (for a long time). That's our story. We highly recommend LaMay's Tree Service for any tree work you may have, and be sure to ask for Jason when you call because that guy knows his business. He will take AMAZING care of you, just as he did with us. Freakin' AMAZING!
