Disappointing. I am back in the area after years away and have been looking for a place to get my film developed. Let's start with the good! Folks working at the store are nice. I felt comfortable and welcome. They have decent choices in film stock. Their turnaround time for processing was fairly quick. Sadly I won't be back to get more film developed though. I got a test roll processed and received my scans via email and was surprised to see they were absolutely tiny... 1000x1500px. I called and asked if they offer high resolution scans. For $3.99 a shot they'll scan at higher res. Considering it's $15.99 to process a roll and receive basic scans, I'd expect to at least get them at a resolution that's higher than what I got on a Walgreens photo CD in 2004. It's a shame, because I'd LOVE to go to a local lab! But $3.99 x 36 is $144 for a single roll of film at decent resolution. Okay, I digress. On to picking up my negatives. When I came to pick up my negatives, a frazzled woman tried to help find them and couldn't, all the while telling me how busy the regular film processor was, how she was going on vacation and was rushing, etc. Not inspiring confidence in me to say the least. After about 10 minutes of awkwardness I suggested they call if they find my negatives. A short while later I get a call that they did indeed find them and I told them I'd come in when I could. No big deal. I came a few days later to get them and was surprised to find my negatives weren't cut and sleeved! Okay, some labs do that I guess. But upon further inspection the processor really *must* have been in a rush... because she hadn't even bothered to roll my negatives in a way that would protect the shots with the leading edge on the outside. Nope. Just a roll of film plopped in the paper bag. Thank goodness it was a test roll and not something I need for a client. read more

I brought in some used (in great condition!) equipment to determine value and possibly sell to them. Sales clerk was vague (kind of spacey) & condescending. When I kept asking him directly what he would offer me for my two video cameras, (one of which he said "he" could definitely use!) he then claimed he couldn't determine if they worked or not! Instead, he Insisted on selling me a $25 battery for one of the DVCRs so he could see if it worked After all his heming & hawing for 30 minutes, he gave me a very lowball Offer. I reluctantly accepted because it was a long drive for me and I did not want to go through this again at some other Camera store. I later discovered (by searching online) that just ONE of the DCR's is worth 3-5 times what he paid me! Of course they're in business to make a few bucks, but this was a complete rip off. Be smarter than me: sell your used camera equipment yourself online! read more

What I really like about this place over Tempe camera is everybody's kind and very knowledgeable and when you ask them a question they don't treat you like you're an idiot where I've gotten that several times at Tempe camera. They also have a lot better pricing. They have everything you need and the customer service is well worth going here over any other camera shop in Arizona. As a photographer I enjoy going into camera stores and seeing what they have to offer. This little shop has all the good things. Both film and digital. I went in not looking for anything other than maybe rolls of film! The great thing about them, was they had the new 120 Gold Film! (Which was new at the time). There was a young lady that helped me and discussed about certain rolls of film and was very knowledgeable in all things I needed. I had to get fingerprinted for a law enforcement career change and came here to get it done. The store is very well-maintained, clean, orderly, and the staff are very friendly. Fast forward a few months, I discovered a family-owned photo negative that is 75 years old and depicts my grandfather as a young man. Of course I came here again to get it processed, rather than depositing it with some corporate conglomerate where they're probably under-paying their staff who would not know how to handle a special request like this in the first place. I was looking for a Nikon D850 to upgrade from my D610. I wasn't wanting to go mirrorless as I'm an amateur photographer and all my equipment is for a Nikon DSLR. They didn't have the D850. Bummer. I was working with Anna at Foto Forum and she was very helpful and sold me on going mirrorless as that is the direction cameras are heading. Kind of reminds me when the business went from film to digital! Anna was very knowledgeable and helpful. She listened to my concerns and we discussed what I usually photograph. Much needed body cleaning done. I took my DSLR to a hike one day near muddy and windy waterfalls and I tried to clean at home but I just couldn't get all out. I looked online and noticed Canon factory offers maintenance and cleaning but that requires me to ship my camera there. A quick Yelp search led me to this store and I was so glad they are here local. I dropped off my body around noon and got a call back around 2pm that my baby is ready to be picked up! I was thinking it would take longer. Price was a slightly more than basic cleaning fee Canon factory offers but no shipping and handling. Locally available with really fast service was worth paying more here. I checked out their quality of work after I got home and I was very pleased with the result. They are open until 6pm on weekday and they really did stay open until 6pm on Friday. I called them 20 minutes before their closing time that my GPS is telling me I will arrive at 5:58pm and asked them to stay open for me until I get there. When I arrived at 5:57pm, they were all still there and welcomed me with great smiles. It looked like they have great selections on so many lenses and accessories. Foto Forum My go to place for cameras and lense and everything else in between. The main reason I buy here is because of the expert consultation if you purchase the equipment here. That is much more important than saving a few dollars purchasing on line. I purchased the Nikon 7200, Nikon D7000, The Nikon 70 - 200 f2.8, Nikon 24 - 70 f2.8, Nikon 28 - 300 mm f3.5, Nikon 50mm f1.8, Tokina 12-24mm wide angle, Sigma 70 - 200 f2.8 and Sigma 150 - 500 f5.0. I generally work with Mike when I come in, he has sold me most of my equipment and has gone over many different settings to improve the sharpness of my photos. The times that Mike has not been there Bill has also helped me and has not missed a beat with his expertise. Greg is also awesome, so everyone that I have dealt with have been top notch. The 2 - Sigma lense that I have purchased there have been less expensive than buying from Amazon. Will keep on going there and coming back for better equipment. OUTSTANDING!! I have a photo from 1964 of my parents holding me when I was a newborn. To me, the picture is priceless. The frame that the picture was in broke and moisture got underneath the glass, causing the photo to stick to the glass. I took it to Foto Forum for help. They meticulously worked with the photo to remove it from the glass and then did their magic to restore the photo. The results are absolutely incredible. I now have a restored picture that is beautiful and once again priceless. The people at Foto Forum are very kind and they really care. I love them!! read more

I want to give a shout-out to this great local business which sells everything for photography, including film. They also send out film to be developed, for a fraction of the price you pay at Wilson Camera, or as it is now known "The Lab" over in Scottsdale. The store is clean, well stocked and well-organized and the times I have come in with my son to get photography equipment, the sales associates have been courteous and knowledgeable. I'm sure you do pay more for the convenience of being able to get what you need the same day (and also the advantage of being able to inspect the item before you buy it), but it's worth it to me. read more

My daughter's camera, Nikon 3200, was acting up on taking pictures and I thought the button was going bad. Greg was so nice, thought the button was acting fine and then he proceeded to show me why the camera wouldn't take a picture if it couldn't focus properly. He gave me a lesson on what the camera was doing. He still opened it up too and took a couple of minutes to clean out ?something? on the inside when I said we noticed it when we were at the beach. No charge. I did need a new card so I bought it there. It is always good to buy local and keep places that give great service open. I have looked and they do have the same prices so why buy from Amazon or Best Buy when you can help out people who actually LOVE photography and will definitely serve you after the sale. DO NOT SELL YOUR USED GEARS TO THEM! Brought my Sony a6300 & ZEISS 24 70 F4 to the store to sell. The staff first said my camera was broken and wouldn't turn on ( it was actually in app mode so the screen was black). And then they said the focusing system was hunting which means the body was not working properly. (The camera worked perfectly with me before I stepped into the store. Might just step through a magic door) Okay fine, how about the lens then? They spent some time looking into the lens and gave me a quote of $325. Right, $325 for a Zeiss, Full Frame, Automatic, Constant Aperture standard zoom lens. Left the store right away feeling bad and listed this item on e.Bay. Sold for $680 plus shipping today. So, just don't sell your used gears to this store unless you like to be ripped off. read more

We stopped by Foto Forum because we were having an issue with our Sony A5100. The lens was connected, but kept giving an error message saying that the camera was not connecting to the lens. We were immediately greeted by two associates, one a woman and one who I believe was named Dave. They took a look at the camera and did some basic troubleshooting. We identified that the issue was likely with the lens, not the camera. They did a complimentary cleaning of the connecting mechanisms, but unfortunately, the lens needs to be sent to Sony. They were able to point us to the appropriate contacts, as the camera is under a year old. When we expressed interest in a new lens, as we have a trip coming up, he immediately looked in the used lenses options. He said "I figure you don't want to spend a bunch of money when you're about to go on a big trip, let's see what we can do for you." He then continued to list out the best low price options, as well as share some mid- and high- range options that would be good for what we were looking for. He also recommended another location that might have additional used inventory. Overall, we really appreciated his willingness to help us out and point us in the most cost effective direction. Various mounting equipment priced at $15 while it could be had as an add on item for a few dollars on Amazon with free shipping. I had a similar experience to others with the gentleman working, he was not happy that I could purchase the item elsewhere for much, much less. First, he claimed he never heard of the part I needed being sold on its own. He tried to up sell to an entire tripod. After pointing out they do indeed have the part. He then mentions they do sell that item. I had to ask why he literally just said he's never seen that part sold on it's own. Like it's being sold on its own in their store. He just began to give me a sales pitch about quality. I showed him an Amazon page with one day shipping priced at 5.99 vs their 29.99. I purchased it on Amazon. read more

Excellent customer service. I brought in a camera I had bought elsewhere a few years ago for a repair. The guy who helped me was super nice gave it a good cleaning while I waited and solved the problem without needing a repair. I was very pleased as i originally thought I was going to need to pay a lot of money for a repair to fix it or buy a new camera. He even helped me set some settings as well. I also came here a previous time to get a fingerprint card made for some volunteer work and they were super nice and helpful. It seems like they have a huge selection of cameras and accessories.
