Tres Leches French Toast (requested without fruit) and a side of home fries
    Erika R.

This placed surprised us for brunch yesterday! We came here for brunch before heading into Cambridge in Boston for some sightseeing with my family. The place wasn't too busy yet because I think we were a little early for the brunch rush. We were seated immediately and our server came over quickly with water and took our drink orders. Our food came out quickly, which was great, because we were starving and in a little bit of a hurry. I ordered the pork belly Benedict, which was delicious. Pork belly was good and not too greasy, the eggs were poached perfectly and the buttermilk biscuit was spectacular . My brother ordered the Tres leches French toast, one requested without the fruit. I got to snack a couple bites of this one of them was unable to finish. Wow was that French toast delicious! It's a little sweet, but not overly sweet and the French toast was made perfectly, fluffy in the middle, and a little crisp on the outside. I'll definitely be back to this hidden gem in the future. Location is great right in Davis Square only about a block away from the T station.

Not bad at all, quite surprised that the rating is so low for this place! We came here for Sunday Brunch after my half marathon, service was quick and attentive. My fiancée ordered a drink was delicious! It was called shaken espresso i believe? The hint of orange flavor went great with coffee drink. When it comes to foods, sticky bun was our favorite. Avocado that they used was smashed which we don't like but still pretty good. My pork belly egg benedict was good but nothing to praise for. We might come back for drinks when in town!

Spacious gastropub with very good food and an extensive drinks menu. Came on a Monday and enjoyed some football and $2 oysters. The burger is pretty darn epic, it's so rich and decadent. However I was a little disappointed by the other aspects besides the food. We were served by several different waiters. One brought us the wrong beer (it turned out to be non-alcoholic), then brought the right one - but ended up charging us for both beers despite it being her mistake. Price-wise a lot of items are expensive and not great value for money. Warning that there is also a 3% additional service fee added on the bill, which is pretty annoying considering some of the staff paid minimal attention to us.

If you are looking for a low key bar with good apz and astmosphere. This place is for you. . Inside feels intimate and luxurious , a perfect spot for first date or a romantic hang out . A little hard to find at first when you have to look for a small glass door with the res name on it, and walk down the long stairs to get into the res They have a lot of cool drinks option here, depend on your mood, but I love their truffle fries!!!! The best fries I have tried in a while Downside: pricey and the service is not good

Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch and the place wasn't too busy so we were seated quickly outside. Service was a bit slow - it was hard to get our server's attention outside since they weren't always around and food took quite a long time despite the place not having a huge amount of people. We ended up waiting over 40 minutes for our food which wasn't ideal, but we didn't have anywhere to be so it wasn't the worst. The sticky bun was good, but it was a bit small and pricy for what came out. The main entree I got was extremely small for its price and wasn't worth the wait either - definitely wouldn't return for brunch if all portions are this tiny. Overall, food tasted decent but the size and long wait left for a lackluster brunch. I probably won't come back unless someone else really wanted to come, but that's just my personal preference. Regardless, I'm glad I tried Foundry's on Elm so now I have a baseline of what to expect!

No nonsense restaurant serving good pub food along with a solid beer/ drink selection. Stopped by here for dinner last night with my brother and a friend of ours. We made a reservation the day of - wasn't too difficult to get one set thankfully. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. The interior of the restaurant is very nice - the bar is illuminated nicely with warm light, and the booths and tables have comfortable and spacious seating. For food and drinks we each got the following: * Me: Smokescreen and The Foundry Burger + Avocado w/ Truffe Fries * My Brother : Bananasaurus Rex and Fish and Chips * Our Friend: Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich w/ a Side Salad Our drinks came out pretty quickly and were fairly good. My drink was tart and tart and scotch forward which was quite nice. My brother's drink wasn't quite what he expected - for a drink with Banana in the name, it was actually more citrusy than anticipated. Our food took a little longer to come out and for me was me, my meal was more warm than hot by the time I got it. With that said, everything tasted great and we all enjoyed our food. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium and was quite delicious - the cuts of meat used in their patty make a very good quality burger. The truffle fries while not a hot as I would like tasted awesome. Huge emphasis on the truffle flavor which I quite enjoyed. Service wise, everyone we interacted with was very friendly and attentive to us if we needed anything. All in all, Foundry on Elm is a solid spot to come in for a meal and drinks. The brunch menu here looked great as well so i'd definitely like to come visit and check it out sometime. Food/Drink: 3/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Total/Average: 4.33/5

Food: Bread & Butter (warm demi baguette, whipped honey butter); Maple Buffalo Chicken Wings; Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil Soup (smoked gouda & cheddar, smoked honey drizzle, griddled sourdough). Ambiance: Lively Parking: Street parking is available nearby Pricing: Somewhat pricey Food (flavors): The Bread was super soft and the honey butter combo was a perfect blend of sweet and fatty flavors. The maple buffalo chicken wings were really saucy and delicious! Although they were more spicy than sweet. They definitely had some kick to them so if you do not like spicy food I wouldn't get them. The grilled cheese and soup were phenomenal. The tomato soup was super rich and flavorful. The soup brought savory flavor and the grilled cheese brought sweet and fatty flavors. The cheese combination in the sandwich was great. The dish overall was packed with flavor. Portion size: Large Drinks: N/A The service was also great! The waiters were attentive.

Such a good spot for a nice dinner. Service was fine, not fantastic but not poor. The dinners we got were great, the truffle ravioli and fish and chips pictured here were top notch! Fair warning, the truffle ravioli are filled with truffles, so if you're not 100% into truffles, perhaps stay away! Ambience is upscale, but you could probably get away with jeans!

    Interesting cocktails.

Had a great time at the bar while watching football last nite. Got some good cocktails from Benjamin who was a great bartender and could adjust when requested. I had a burger that was maybe a little less done than medium but very tasty and the fries were extra crispy as I requested (I've had way too many floppy fries lately). Friend enjoyed his oysters and his wings were good. Comfy bar, not filled with idiots, good time.

Front: float like a butterfly Back: parley
    Della S.

My friend raved about the burger here, so I decided to try it out. We started the meal with some cocktails-- at $13 each, the cocktails aren't necessarily cheap, but are priced similarly to other establishments that have the same vibe. The "parley" (mezcal, montenegro, banana, lime) had a subtle smokiness from the mezcal. I was a bit skeptical of the banana at first, but the flavors complemented each other super well and the drink as a whole was tart and refreshing. The "float like a butterfly" (cachaça, batavia arrack, lime leaf syrup, lime, butterfly pea flower) had more subdued flavors-- its selling point is its pretty blue color. The alcohol was strong in this one. The foundry burger ($17) comes with fries which you can upgrade to truffle fries for an extra $2. The burger itself has truffle aioli but the truffle flavor didn't come through very strongly. There were a lot of pickles! I liked how the bun was soft and fluffy and the burger was super juicy. While there were a lot of pickles on the burger, the pickles did not add a lot of flavor. The burger itself was also underseasoned so the flavor of the meat did not shine through. Like I mentioned before, the truffle aioli barely had any flavor. I would say that the burger has an awesome texture but could use a more complex flavor profile. I wouldn't recommend upgrading the fries to truffle fries unless you are a fan of soft fries. I prefer my fries to have a crispy exterior and these fries did not have that. However, the truffle fries did pack a lot of truffle flavor and the truffle aroma filled the air around us. For $17 I was expecting a better quality burger. The place also had a bit of an indoor fruit fly problem since a few of them were buzzing around us and one landed in my drink. Sad.

So I abandoned this place years ago! However, we needed a sting and a bite and tried it again. Drinks were really good and the salad and appetizers we split between the 4 of use were delicious and fresh. Drink went down easy and we're tasty; love a good cocktail. Staff was polite and attentive. We're we're at the bar, my SOP, and the dinner rush was building and the place ran ticky-booh. Will put it back on my list of good places to try some old favorites. Ambience is styling American restaurant and long beautiful bar. Drop in with confidence.

Foundry on Elm is a decent upscale bar in Davis. The ambience suits a young crowd with R&B tunes on a Friday evening. This place can get crowded at peak hours. The food tastes amazing but I wish the proportions were different. If you notice in the pictures, the meals we ordered came with bread, and underneath hidden is amazing sauce. The amount of bread is not enough to clean up all that delicious sauce and we had to order more! Unfortunately we had to wait an extra 10 minutes just for 4 extra pieces of bread. I'm not quite sure if this is normal, but the Maine mussels are small. Probably half an inch in diameter. These were some of the smallest mussels I've ever eaten yet they tasted the same (but with better sauce). I would not get this again unless I was already full. Overall Foundry had delicious food, great vibes, but can get crowded during peak hours and you'll have to wait long for extra sides of bread because they only provide two small ones per meal.

Looking for something good to eat and we happened upon this place within walking distance of our hotel. The menu was mysterious online and didn't really represent what we stumbled into that night. We show up and speak to who I believe to be the hostess. We had some nice small talk while we were heading to the table. Half way there she asked where we were from and we told her "the most beautiful land in the world, Memphis, Memphis, Memphis, Memphis". IFKYK. She was like, "no way". Yes way, I say. She then tells us she lived in Memphis for a long time and this place is modeled after a place she waited tables at while she lived there. Turns out she was the owner. I asked what it was and lo and behold she says one of my favorite places in our delightful town. Flight. I then put two and two together and realize why the menu was so hard for me to understand online. It's just like Flight. You can get a made "flight" of foods or drinks or you can build your own flight of food from all of the choices. Now I'm stoked. I love Flight! I had a nice IPA and C had a nice fancy drink too. We both had soups to start. They were pretty good. We both had a flight each after our apps. Food was good, not great. Portions were insane. We probably left half of it there. It felt like such a waste. Had I known that it was going to be so much, I would have ordered a single dish. Each one seemed like a good sized meal in my opinion. My favorite things were the lamb chops and the grit cake that came with one of my dishes. I poked around at the others some but all of these. C's pot pie was interesting with a chicken tender shoved in it. I didn't care of her other two dishes. The Beef Wellington was fair at best. We skipped dessert as we were so damned full already. Nice place, great ownership, I wish the food was better. Very nice steak knife I will add. That means a lot and pushed the star up one. That may sound strange but I don't care. 26 - 65

Wow talk about a hidden gem!…read more I hadn't heard much about this place so I wasn't sure what to expect-- located in Inman square with nearby limited street parking (there's a metered lot on Springfield street nearby!), Oak Bistro is a medium sized restaurant with a simple but chic decor and true focus on hospitality. When we came in we were greeted and our coats were taken and put away. They have rotating specials that our server walked us through. We ordered all three of the mock tails on the menu -- Odin's Oracle was a sparkling elderflower and passion fruit drink, the Northern Rose was fruity with a slight thick cream of coconut base (and the tables favorite!) and the last drink was a warm ginger drink. They all came out looking beautiful. For food, we started with the Halloumi Cheese which was delicious and perfect for sharing (comes with four pieces), then tried the Blueberry Ricotta Cornbread (really well made and yummy but needed a little more butter spread) and the fried burrata (huge serving of burrata with balsamic, fig jam, warm bread, just as good as it sounds). We tried the Braised Short Rib Croquettes which were stuffed with short rib and topped with sooo much yummy cheese. We also had the Pappardelle braised shore rib Ragu which was truly delicious-- would highly recommend. For dessert we tried a special menu bread pudding which was a perfect end to the night. Our leftovers came perfectly packaged in little baggies with dish names and dates written on them which is so cute and thoughtful! Overall I would order everything we got again and was so pleasantly surprised by the caliber of food at Oak Bistro-- get in and try it before it gets too popular!

My partner and I couldn't decide what to get from their a la carte menu so we ended up going for the four-course tasting menu instead ($85/pp), picking the omnivore and pescatarian options to see if we could try more items. We were actually a little underwhelmed at first, but the tasting menu got better and better after each course. The tasting menu started with some of their in-house pickles and ferments. We had some onion, green beans, and cucumbers, which I wished were crunchier. Each pickle had a good amount of acidity but I wouldn't have minded if the flavors were punchier. The first course of the tasting menu was a salad. Visually it just looked like a pile of lettuce, but they added a savory garlicky sauce and a sprinkle of asparagus salt that allowed the dish to feel refreshing and hearty at the same time. The radishes were crunchy, peppery, and delicious, and we were very pleased to find that many of the later courses also included raw radish. We ended up getting different dishes for the second course, one of which involved deep-fried arancini-like balls of risotto with a creamy sauce, and the other had a cold plant-based loaf served with a vibrant garlic sauce. Both dishes featured some fresh greens that balanced the carby heaviness. By the time we got to the third course, we realized that Forage makes their vegetables shine. The omnivore course came with a steak while the pescatarian course had a pan-fried fish, both of which were also available to be ordered a la carte. While we thought that the steak and fish were seasoned and prepared well, the vegetables stood out to us even more. They weren't prepared in any crazily innovative way but the chefs made the natural flavors of the vegetables shine in a way that complemented the rest of the dish very well. After the third course, we added one optional cheese course ($22/pp) that came with even more radishes. The hazelnut shortbread was super buttery and everything went well together. I was already feeling pretty full and was glad that we only got one cheese course instead of two. Finally, the fourth course had a maple semifreddo with seaweed crisps and a caramel nut sauce. This was amazing and something that I'll think about for a long time! I could really taste the maple flavor in the semifreddo, and the cold creaminess went so well with the salty, crispy seaweed and nutty, buttery caramel. The balance of textures and flavors in the dessert was excellent. Along with the tasting menu, we added one wine pairing ($60/pp). We liked some of the wines so much that we asked for more information about them and learned that some of the wines are imported in small batches. After experiencing how well vegetables are prepared here, I'd love to visit during different seasons to sample their vegetarian menu items.
