On top of that, they still…read moretake the time to offer non-emergency lines so people can ask questions and better understand the law. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your service, dedication, and sacrifice. It does not go unnoticed.

I've always supported the police, but my experiences this week have left me feeling deeply doubtful…read moreabout them. From 2 situations this week, I feel bullied, lied to and I don't feel safe trusting the police the next time something happens. My daughter was out after curfew, without my permission, looking for something her sister had dropped hours earlier. She saw a guy collapse and fall into the street. She moved him to a safer spot and tried to help him. He came to and ran off. The police showed up and treated her terribly insinuating that she was lying. She was shaken and they were mean to her. They brought her home with 4 police cars making a big show for my neighbors. When they spoke to me, they mislead me about the true situation. They didn't lie but they made things sound differently than they were. Today, at work, I had a theft situation. I called 911. I tried to close our gate so he could not drive off. He managed to hit 2 cars in our lot and backed into our gate. He sped off. They found him and asked me to ride with them to identify the driver. I was happy to help. While I was in the back of the cop car, waiting for them to bring him out (never did) they accused me of causing damage to his car! I was warned that filing a false police report was against the law and that my story didn't line up. There was another witness that had backed up my story. I felt attacked, getting accused in the back of a police car when I was the victim!!!! I'm a boring, middle aged mom that doesn't cause problems. I never felt afraid to go to the police. Next time something happens I will feel hesitant to call them for help.

It detours to drop some runners off at Edison HS, which basically adds 10min to the bus ride. . Had I known, I'd prob have sought nearer parking for the SCM and just bike the rest of the way. . Somewhat peaceful ambience, albeit loud neighborhood.

I was here in Long Beach watching the news and getting ready for school when I watched as the second plane hit the 2nd tower. That memory has been with me since. While on a weekend trip to san diego we visited the air and space museum and were surprised to see a cruiser on display that was actually at ground zero! When I got back I thought to myself "I wonder if there's other artifacts that I can see around town". A quick search showed that there were pieces of steel from the towers here. So on 9/11 of last year, we drove out here to see the memorial and have a moment of silence for the victims. The memorial is located at the bottom of the staircase in a pentagon shaped base and honors all lost in the towers, flights as well as first responders. In the center stands a steel beam that was part of WTC donated by NYC Fire and Police. It's quite surreal seeing an object from that dark day in history.
