Ava is amazing! We needed Medicare coverage to begin the following month that we applied. With her guidance and support we were able to make that happen! I came here with one of my family members to get a new social security number/card. I chose this location specifically because of the positive reviews. The experience that I had from the security at the door to the person who helped us at the window to complete our request was smooth and friendly. We didn't make an appointment beforehand and showed up at 12pm on a Thursday. There were only a few people in the waiting area, but it still took almost an hour before we were seen because I think the people working were on lunch and there were only three workers present. Besides the long wait, the person who helped us was efficient and friendly. I was the translator for my family and the person working behind the window was patient and kind. It literally took us less than 10 minutes to get social security numbers/cards request for two people! The bummer is that they do not print it out right away like they did in the 80s... so we had to wait for the social security cards in the mail. To the Asian lady worker across from window 15, I know you're new, and likes to have that attention as a case worker. But nobody wants to hear your little yelling conversations with your coworkers about what your coworkers are getting for lunch. And I just want my social security card for work. This lady kept asking me if I am saying everything the truth to my best knowledge or I'll have perjury , but she kept saying this word "perjury" like 3 times . Lady I showed you my drivers license, my mothers name and even provided you with everything, I just need it for work. And this is why it is so hard to find employees.. I remembered you could be given a temporary social security number, and now she just simply rudely said no and continue talking to her coworkers. But most time you need one as proof of citizenship in the United States, or you need one as proof to work in the United States. Just got off the phone with one of the girl representatives at this office location, and she wasn't very pleasant. I was trying to make an in person appointment. She kept repeating herself and not answering what I was calling about. It gets a bit frustrating when trying to communicate with workers like this. Clerk representative was very rude to us. We showed her some forms we had and then she threw them back at us. She said this is no good. she was very discriminating and social Security judgmental. We gave her everything that was requested by Social Security website and she said this is not good enough no explanation of why very bad experience we would like to file a grievance. I had an appointment, completed an application online ahead of time, and was prepared with my documents. I loved the mobile check-in and was seen for my appointment right away. However, despite the website prompting me to schedule an appointment at the Fountain Valley office (my local SSA office), my online application had the code of the Mission Viejo office on it so I was not able to helped and will have to visit the other location as a drop-in. This was a glitch (no fault of my own), but I will be the one inconvenienced as I had taken time off work to attend my appointment. Again, the Fountain Valley staff was fantastic!! I had to come here because I needed a replacement social security card for my daughter. I arrived and there was a male security guard who was able to direct me to the kiosk and look through my purse. I went to the kiosk and received a ticket. I sat down and waited about 50 minutes to get called. I was at the window for a little over 5 minutes but it went well. I received a statement saying that I should get the replacement card in less than 14 days. I was pleasantly surprised how well it went. This social security office is very clean and has plenty of seating. The workers are super nice and efficient. They seem very helpful. So this is the process that was done for 2 BRAND new applications to start social security (One was filed on April 9 2025 and the other on april 17 2025- both were done ONLINe- HOWEVER I WOULD HIGHLY recommend calling your local office (Fountain VALLEY (in this case) # 877-304-1566 AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. ONCE you get or speak to a live agent; I would also suggest waiting for the sometimes lengthy process of having to wait on hold as opposed to a call back; just a suggestion) PLEASE NOTE that when you fill out your NEW application the paperwork goes to an office in RICHMOND CA (near OAKLAND CA) the app on 04/09/2025 we found out by calling local office had a form scanned on 04/27/2025 however was still waiting for form 40B to be processed (should have been on the same day) agent at local FV office with all our efforts contacted us directly on a saturday and assured us that FORM A and B would be OK for medicare and completed by local agent instead of RICHMOND However on the app filled out on april 17 we had to make an appointment and called our santa ana ca office(they could not have been nicer) They (THE SANTA ANA office found out that the computer was not able to process the claim filed on april 17 (We found when SA called Richmond (it was just sitting there on someone's desk with no rush or anything else just waiting but thanks to MR TRUONG at santa ana our medicare form B and SS application were processed when we went in person (WITH an appointment) MORAL of the story do everything in person at your local office with an appointment read more

I have never had such a positive experience with a government agency. From the security guards to the employees, everyone was friendly, helpful, responsive, efficient and respectful. I made my appointment online, was seen immediately. I accidentally forgot a document I needed and the employees were so patient and helpful allowing me to wait while my husband brought them to me. Usually, a persons impatience or annoyance pops up and comes through but not here. I've received worse service at five star restaurants and hotels. I'm blown away. read more

It was not the best place but now it is out of hand. Failed to call my parent on scheduled review day, so she could risk losing her SSI and medical service. Sadly, this is the common practice now, and not just this office. Ended up getting connected after 40 minutes of hold time and rescheduled the review for the following day which took place within the reasonable timeframe from appointment time. Lightening Fast Name Change mid-day I visited this location after running away from Garden Grove's office where the shady clientele were waiting in hoards wrapped around the building. I had all but resigned myself to not being able to change my that day and it was only 9am. This office lived up to their reviews. The lot had ample parking, the line was orderly and the wait was short. A security officer/Office Coordinator checks you in asking a few questions about your visit, then directs you to a kiosk, telling you the exact process to follow, and where to get your forms. The kiosk check in was simple. I grabbed my form and waited just a few minutes then was helped at a window where I was helped in a straight forward manner. I even received my new card in less than a week. There are a lot of government employees at this office doing a wonderful job keeping it working like clockwork and they deserve kudos. read more
