"Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park" is a mouthful as far as hotel names go...
[] Things to Know - Location []
= This hotel is in a relatively centralized location in Sydney; it's in Chippendale, right along the edge of Ultimo, and within walking distance of Central Station. This means that you're a hop, skip, and a train jump away from the airport and all other major Sydney landmarks.
= The University of Technology Sydney's (interesting looking) building is blocking the view of the water, so if that matters to you, you may want to look for another hotel closer to Darling Harbour or something.
= Chinatown is also really close. Which means there are a lot of great Asian restaurants to choose from (more than you'll know what to do with). That's assuming you're not one of those weirdos who thinks some boring ethnic food like, I dunno, Italian food is better than Asian food. That's right, I said it. Fight me.
= Maybe because Chinatown is so close, and also because Sydney is such a huge draw for folks from nearby Asian countries, 90% of your fellow guests are likely to be Asian tourists. Which explains stores like Superdry and Daiso at the (really interesting looking) Central Park Mall, next door.
= I noticed another review mention that Uber had a hard time finding the building. It's because when you plug the address in Google Maps or whatever, it seems to take you around the back to Abercrombie Street for some reason. The main entrance is closest to Broadway Street; look for one of several open-air restaurants immediately outside of the entrance.
= There's a great breakfast place across the street called The Upside Cafe. Go there for your caffeination and brekkie sammich needs.
[] Things to Know - Hotel []
= Service is friendly, albeit slow. I found it much faster to go downstairs and ask the bartender for help than to wait for someone to come upstairs with whatever I had requested.
= The room was small(ish) with a modern aesthetic. The new smell is still largely there; it's only been open since August 2018 or something. We had everything we needed during our stay. Scratch that, I just remembered that there wasn't a microwave, but other than that, our basic needs were covered.
= Room service and parking are both ridiculously expensive. Avoid renting a car unless you're okay with spending approximately $40 (AUD) per hour, or $70 (AUD) per day to park it at the hotel. But this seems to be the norm for much of Sydney, so I can't really blame 4PbS Sydney Central Park for this one. Sydney is relatively easy to navigate though, if you get an Opal card instead. Embrace the Opal public transport network.
= There's no pool, if that matters to you. Actually, I'm not sure any of the six other Marriott hotels in the city have a pool. They probably don't see the need, seeing as how you have some famous beaches and an entire ocean nearby? Also, a majority of the other Marriott hotels in Sydney are Category 5 hotels, whereas 4PbS Sydney Central Park is a Category 4 hotel; this is likely to be your cheapest option if you're wanting to stay at a Marriott hotel, but it's not cheaper by much. read more
