VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY- NOT THE FOUR SEASON STANDARD This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've experienced, especially for a brand like Four Seasons that is supposed to represent luxury and impeccable service. We were suspicious upon first arrival when reception appeared overwhelmed and not able or willing to accommodate our requests. I must give a shout out to Lorenzo who did meet our expectations when we were able to enlist his assistance. The hotel felt understaffed, which affected every aspect of the stay. The accommodations were underwhelming, with rooms that were small , particularly for room class designations ,and far below expectations for price point. Food and beverage service was particularly poor. Simple details that should be effortless at this level--like providing decent coffee in the lobby--were completely botched: no cream and poorly brewed coffee. The maitre d for breakfast service was particularly rude and appeared bothered. Wait staff appeared confused and not understanding what we needed. We felt like an inconvenience, perhaps because we did not order the self serve buffet and required a simple breakfast? Overall, this hotel failed to deliver on the most basic elements of hospitality, let alone luxury. The Four Seasons name sets a high bar and while I had high expectations, this property fell short in multiple areas. What a great hotel! The lobby is beautiful. The service was friendly and great. The concierge was helpful. We loved the bar off the lobby and the dining room served excellent meals. Room service was very quick, well done and delicious. It was such a fun place to stay! Our room? It was a little on the small side, but had nice views, was impeccably decorated, had a great bathroom and was spotlessly clean. Then, there was the location. It could not be better located . . . right across the street from the Circular Quay/Main Harbor. The Rocks nightlife area is a block away. The famed bridge is a few blocks beyond, and the Opera House is a fun 5-minute walk. The shopping district is an easy 2 or 3 blocks in the opposite direction. You absolutely could not ask for a better location. There were two slight negatives. First, the pool deck really feels like you are wedged up on a rooftop. We thought it might be a nice place to have a cocktail and view the skyline. For whatever reason, it has not been configured that way, although it seems to have spectacular potential. Our big criticism, though, is that we were there for 4 nights, over New Year's Eve. It was our first visit to Syndey, and the NYE fireworks have been a bucket list item for us. Anyway, the Four Seasons charges a huge premium for their "New Year's Eve" package. We obviously didn't mind paying the premium BUT, other than the room, you didn't actually GET anything for this "package." We had absolutely no idea where to view the fireworks, how to get into the viewing area, what the program was like, what time to go, etc. etc. There were 1.1 million people there. It was mobbed. It would have been nice for the Four Seasons to have had a little guide for their NYE Package guests. At the very least, the concierge should have had a little tutorial, rather than just vaguely waving in the direction of the harbor. read more

My friend and I stayed 5 nights here for the Sydney marathon. It was part of a package deal with a running travel organization. We booked with this group specifically because we liked the Four Seasons. We got an extra large corner room with a city view. It was large enough to be an apartment. We had a large walk in closet and extra large garden tub. We did ask for double beds but received one large bed. The couch pulled out into a bed. The pull out bed was actually comfortable. I did stay one extra night in a regular sized room with spectacular views of the Opera house and circular quay. We did eat at the breakfast buffet every morning. They had a special section of gluten free bread and cakes. All of the food was labeled gluten free/vegan etc They also had a barista there making yummy espresso drinks. The cost was $60. Having all the gluten free options made it worthwhile. Eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, gluten free bread, omelette station , fresh fruits, cheese and assorted meats. The service was excellent! My friend lost some of her important documents and Josh in concierge walked her to the police station to file a report and then we found out the papers were found. He took us all the way to China town to retrieve them. The morning of the race I needed two hair ties and the ladies at the front desk were able to find me some !!! This Four Seasons is centrally located in the CBD, just a few steps away from Circular Quay, where the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are located. The Circular Quay train station is also nearby, making travel to and from SYD airport very convenient. However, the standard rooms are relatively small, and the price feels high for the space provided. Nearby five-star hotels like the Intercontinental and Capella offer more spacious rooms at similar rates. The lobby also feels a bit dated for a Four Seasons. Overall, it's a good option. If you visit during Vivid Sydney and book a harbor-view room, you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the nighttime projections, which I did. read more

We came to Australia to celebrate my milestone birthday. I picked Four Seasons since I've never been to any of their hotel chains (and my first time ever in Australia). I thought maybe I was in for a good surprise (I mentioned upon check-in that I was celebrating my birthday). So, how could you go wrong, right? Well, I was wrong. I wasn't impressed. The room we were given was extremely tight. There was not enough space. The bathroom was also cramped, with just one sink. I guess the only thing good about the room is that there is a partial view of the Opera house. Sadly, they didn't give us a bigger room to make our stay more comfortable. I understand they upgraded us to a room with a view (which was because the booking was made through Amex fine hotels and resorts). However, no extra concessions were made despite the fact that I did send several emails prior to check-in, emphasizing that I wanted that particular stay to be extra special. I was prepared to spend a little bit more if they offered me a discounted rate at one of their suites. On the other hand, the staff were friendly and thoughtful. There was a complimentary bottle of wine in the room when we checked in. The staff at the breakfast buffet were also great. The breakfast buffet had good choices of food. The location is fantastic. It's very close to everything. I mean everything. There's a train that stops about a few feet away from the hotel, and it literally runs along the main road where the hotel is located. It was so convenient. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The Opera house is about 15 min walk from the hotel. It's also close to the Circular Quay and main attractions. read more

We decided to stay here for the night before we got on the Ovation of the Seas Cruise ship. We checked in and the service and staff was super sweet. Our room wasn't ready yet and we started to venture out and it was raining. The staff gave me an umbrella and I didn't even have to ask. When we got back we decided to take a shower in the gym area. We arrived early and the room wasnt ready yet. We decided to take a shower in the gym area. They had all the items needed like toothbrush, razors, shaving cream, mouth wash, shower caps and etc. It was amazing. I do have to say this hotel is super close to the port where the cruise ship was at. The next morning, we walked over to the cruise port which took like 8 mins to walk. I had a very comfortable bed and incredible room service. Their menu features some incredible items and the service can't be beat. I had a really great stay at the Four Seasons Sydney. When I checked in, my room wasn't ready yet even though I had requested early check-in, but the front desk suggested I go to the spa to freshen up. This ended up being a perfect solution after such a long flight and I was able to get my day started right away. The spa and shower area was very clean, and I even saw staff coming in to clean and replace towels while I was there. Once I got into my room, everything was spotless. The room was very clean, the sheets felt fresh, and I really appreciated the slippers they provided. I ordered room service and the food was really good. There was a small mix-up with my order since the front desk helped take it while room service was super busy, but they handled it so well. They remade the order and even comped the incorrect item, which I truly appreciated. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. I was really torn about this Four Seasons hotel. It's for sure the worst Four Seasons we've stayed at and does not do their brand justice. I'm not sure why Four Seasons allows this hotel to be in the condition it is. The hotel is old, and while not run down, it definitely needs a refresh. We found the rooms were a bit on the small side as well, especially compared to another nice hotel we stayed at. The highlight of this Four Seasons is their breakfast buffet. Service was fantastic, and the selection was great. All the food we had was delicious and well executed in spite of the large selection. The only bummer is that the buffet / restaurant is at the lowest level without any nice views. Compared to another hotel we stayed at, I was surprised the service at the outside door wasn't nearly as good. I personally don't care that much, but I do think it reflects more poorly on their brand. The other positive about this Four Seasons is its location. It's right at the heart of Circular Quay and very conveniently located to all the public transportation options (buses, ferries, trains, light rail). If you choose to stay at a top notch hotel in Sydney, I would look at a different hotel. This isn't terrible, but it doesn't reflect well on the Four Seasons brand. read more

It was a flawless progress from booking to getting a car service at the airport. Everything was great. I met such a helpful staff on my arrival. Derick was awesome. I got to store my bags and refreshed after such a long flight. Now, here's where it starts to get a little unpleasant. I give all my information, name, card etc to a manager upon my arrival. I was told I'd get a text when the room was ready to come to the desk and get the key, no problem. I'm tired but hungry and decided to try the mode lobby restaurants, which are mostly empty. It's still early, so I'm seated, and then I wait for what seems like a pretty long time, maybe over 8-10min then I'm given water. I decided to give my order because, like I said, I was hungry and tired. Perhaps I'm tired, but the food took a long time, and the server hasn't even crossed by for me to check. Eventually, food came, and I also ordered a drink. Luckily, the water bottle was on the table, so there was no need to wave a server down for that. Halfway through my meal, no drink, I see a guy at the bar and signal he comes over. I'm waiting for my drink. He's making your drink now, is what he said to me, and that took another 10 minutes before it eventually came. And at that point, I slurp it down and leave because I got a text room ready. The room is ready, and I go to the desk because I look forward to showering and lying down. I went to the desk, and guess what? It seems the room is not ready, but I received a text room ready. Head to the desk and get the key. I was then asked did you get a text? Yes, okay, let me check. l, remember I said all the information to the person when I first arrived? Well, I guess that never made it into the computer system because I had to give it again, no problem. Fast forward, get the keys, and go to the room. It's nice and clean, smells fresh, has a nice view, and the bed looks comfy. I unpack and try to sleep a bit. The next day, I decide I'm rested, so let's try this mode spot again. The 2nd was worse than the first, and my meal was gone before my drink. However, the table seated after me got plates and bread before I was even offered water after putting in my order. I'm unsure if that's how service always is, but it's weird because the tables around me had staff working them. When I did ask the server about my food with an attitude, at this point, I would pay and leave. The mini bar in the room was left as if I drank something. If I wanted something replaced, I called. I decided to get room service at that point if I was hungry, not even to bother going to eat at the lobby cafe or restaurant Mode, But as for the housekeeping staff, they were attentive and excellent. The location could not be any better for whatever it is you want to do. It seemed like everything was an easy walk no matter what was on our list. The rooms are a little small but very clean. I think about average for a big time city hotel. The bathroom was nice and full of amenities. I could write a page about the breakfast buffet, let's just say if you can't find something you like, then you just are not hungry. You name it, they have it on this buffet. This hotel is feeling quite dated but the service food and everything you expect from a Four Seasons Hotel is still available here-beds are very comfortable and I had the best sleep! Room service was actually great (even the price!). I wouldn't bother with the lounge on 32nd floor unless you're getting it free with your room-the snacks are ok but nothing exceptional and the wine pour is like you're at a taste testing in a vineyard, so it's a little annoying to constantly be waiting for a 'refill' if you'd call it that. My favorite part was probably the bar downstairs, great service and people watching. Also great walking distance to everything the harbor and the rocks have to offer. read more

My room was a recently renovated one, and it was modern and warm in the feel and decor. Little touches, like a handwritten note with a treat, and then notes from housekeeping, were much appreciated. I not only stayed here, I spoke at and attended a conference. The conference facilities were top rate and the banquet staff were proactive and attentive. The food at the banquet was great and they were proactively accommodating for dietary restrictions with a separate station for those of us who have those needs (gluten-free for me). To start, because of covid, everyone is required to wear masks in public spaces and get temperature checks before entrance. Spare masks everywhere. The rooms are small but well appointed. The location is convenient for a tourist as everything is walking distance. The ferries, the bridge, the opera house, the royal gardens, shopping, and restaurants. All easily walkable. The food was good. The breakfast buffet wasn't as good as Park Hyatt down the street, but way better than Shangri-La around the corner. The rooms were small and bathrooms really small. The hotel itself feels like a Grand Hyatt. The service was up to par. Great hotel for a tourist at a really great price, but if you want a luxury stay, go to the Park Hyatt. read more

We stayed here three times in one month as we used Sydney as our long-haul flight hub and cruise port. It was a bit dated in parts, but it was a nice hotel. We liked the location - convenient to Quay, Rocks, public transit, cruise port (you can walk there even with large luggage). In our three stays, we had booked the same level of hotel room, but received three very different rooms. The first room was mid-sized and had a decent sized bathroom. The second room was much larger and had a view of the harbor. The third room was smaller and the bathroom was half the size of the first two rooms. They did ask us if there was a special occasion since we were staying there three times in a month. We mentioned we were on our honeymoon, but we probably weren't the only ones on their honeymoon... no special perks there. We used the concierge a few times. Often they would talk us out of the places we found online and encourage us to go elsewhere (do they get a cut on recommendations to certain touristy locations?!). We had them help us book a dinner before a concert at Sydney Opera House; it was a pre-theater meal. We were presented a few options, but they really encouraged we eat at Aria. We arrived five minutes before the restaurant opened; we were the first ones in and we were almost late to our show because the waiter took so long; short course took more like an hour and forty-five minutes for two people. Honestly, we regretted that Four Seasons recommended them. Beautiful view, but service was lacking and the food was overrated. Not worth the price. Overall, I would recommend staying here for convenient location, but the variety of rooms (paying the same price for a serious change in size/quality) and the concierge experience really brought my review down. read more

If you book here, get the 33 floor which costs a little more but then you have access to the lounge on 32 which has great dinner and breakfast. Also, alcohol and coffee all day until 8pm. Since most meals in Sydney will run you between 60-90 dollars, for family of four, this is a savings IMHO. We would absolutely stay here again. A hotel, in my estimation, is measured by at least 3 or 4 things. Let's start with location. Isn't that one of the first things you look for? In this case, you absolutely will not find a better location than the Rocks and 4 Seasons has the best location in the Rocks. 3 minute walk to the bus/train/ferry. On George street with access to all of the Rocks without dealing with hill climbs (like the 2 high end properties next door). What a breeze! Second, how about comfort and amenities? I'm here to say that they live up to all you've come to expect from the Four Seasons brand. Our room had a "partial" harbor view from which we could see the bridge, fireworks, and most of the harbor from the padded window seat as we drank wine and watched it all unfold. How about the 60" TV? Yep. HUGE!! And the in house spa which we could avail ourselves of before we even checked in. The bathroom was a marvel and the bed was super comfy. We even had a pillow menu where we could order from several different pillows. (We chose down of course). Thirdly, service. You may not require much but isn't it nice when everyone on the staff treats you like royalty? Yep, happens here. Fourth, value. A subjective measure to be sure but I'm telling you this place is worth more than they charge. But don't let them know that... I wouldn't stay anywhere else. read more

It's been about 6 months since I've stayed here and I still dream about how wonderful our stay was. First of all, we arrived early in the morning after traveling for 24 hours and were right away offered to use their spa facilities to shower and change. A mini-fridge in the room and a convenience store across the street meant that we were able to be well-stocked with any snack or drink we could want. The first night we had a knock at the door and opened it to find a gentlemen standing there was milk and cookies. The morning breakfast buffet, while pricy, was one of the best buffet's I've seen with a rotation of food items each day and very eclectic in what they were serving. The view of the harbor was stunning and the location was great both during the day and at night. My mom and sister were able to enjoy elegant restaurants just a short walk away while I felt perfectly safe and at easy walking around at night, pushing my toddler in her stroller while we visited the nearby fast food eateries. Last but certainly not least, waiting for us on our bed when we checked in was a mini robe and bath slippers along with an adorable koala stuffed animal. That koala bear completely made our trip to Sydney for her. Updated to add: my mom got pretty sick while we were in Sydney and (while not cheap) a quick call down to the concierge was able to produce a doctor who visited us in our room, checked her out and provided her antibiotics that fixed her right up! read more

We stayed for 7 nights at the Four Seasons in a deluxe full harbor view room with a king bed. There were some aspects of our stay that were excellent and others that were a bit lackluster The good: + The view! We could see the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. This was a must. + The bed was comfortable + Ample closet and drawer space for all of our luggage + Spacious bathroom + Provided converter for international visitors The bad: - Room felt really dated - Nothing particularly special or memorable other than the view - Small for being considered deluxe - Elevators were slow to arrive and frequently full in the mornings Some other reviews say it was noisy due to the proximity to Circular Quay and the highway. We never noticed it but perhaps that was due to being pretty high up. The room was clean and relatively quiet (except for the person next door ordering a LOT of room service). We ordered room service for breakfast one morning due to a tour that required leaving before more restaurants would be open. The breakfast was fine and was brought to us during the time frame we requested on the form. No complaints. One of the best things about the hotel is the location. It is right next to Circular Quay and a very short walk to the Rocks. If you want to stay some place central, look for hotels in this area. We were able to walk everywhere very easily and even ventured onto the train a few times. There is a lot of construction along George Street but that would be more of an issue if you were driving or looking to take a bus. Came to Sydney, Australia for our honeymoon and stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel. The view we had was amazing!!!! Perfect view of the Opera House and conveniently located near Circular Quay and not that far from downtown Sydney. Hospitality from the staff was amazing and the pedicure I had in their spa put me to sleep! It was that relaxing. The flower arrangements in the lobby were beautiful however they did have an overpriced breakfast buffet. The wifi code was only valid for the lobby and changed daily (from what I remember) however, they do have computers located on the second floor for use. Their pool is outdoors with nice looking cabanas/lounges however the time we went was the start of the winter season so we weren't able to use that amenity. I would recommend my family and friends to stay in this hotel and I would definitely come back. I love Sydney and everything that it has to offer! read more

Amazing. Booked in for a night for our 10th wedding anniversary, and the staff really treated us like royalty. Upgraded to a room with the most amazing view of the harbour. Room is very comfortable, and we were greeted with rose petals from the door to the (king sized) bed and complimentary sparkling. Every inch of the hotel is spotless with a nice vibe. The Grain bar on level 1 is a great place to start the night off. Really felt special being here. Oh, and late check out times! read more
