Four Seasons is just about as good as it gets in terms of Korean food in Ithaca. I can't speak to much of its menu, but you honestly only need to order one thing there: the dweji bulgogi (spicy pork) lunch box. For $10, you get a huge bowl of fried rice, dweji bulgogi, miso soup, salad, dumplings, and a few side dishes (kimchi, fish cake, steamed brocolli). The portion size has gotten a little smaller, but I still always leave stuffed. In terms of quality, it really can't compare to the Korean food in places like LA. But if you're reading this, you're probably in Ithaca, so take what you can get. Tips: They give you more if you get takeout instead of dining in. They prepare the food very quickly (to the point that it's questionable). Regardless of how many lunch boxes you order, they will be ready within 10 minutes. I can't say this restaurant blew me away like other people seem to think because I am Korean. That being said, I thought the restaurant was decent. I came here with a couple of my friends and ordered kimchi boochinggae, yukgaejang, ddukbukki, kimchi jigae, and jjangpohng. Everything was okay except the fact that it wasn't authentic Korean food. It's hard to rate this place because I've had both good and bad experiences but the staff is sort of rude and the food isn't v. consistent, so I'm going to base this review more on the negatives I've experienced. Service is OK but food is not Korean. They don't use the traditional ingredients and it's more like a fusion Chinese/American food menu. The squid stir fry is a good example. To put it nicely, the food here is not at the top of my list of best Korean foods I've ever tried. To make it worse, it is overpriced and not worth the money. The staff here isn't that friendly. Not once did I see any of the staff members smile to anyone. Some people say that it's because they're only friendly to the Korean customers, but some Koreans were in here at the same time as me and they didn't get friendly service either. They did, however, get a lot more banchan than I did. And not just quantity, but they also got more variety. Preferential treatment, perhaps? I went for the mool naeng myun, since it's still fairly warm in Ithaca. Not as big as I would have liked and the presentation wasn't that appealing. After the noodle, everything else was kinda just thrown in there. The dish was okay, but nothing to rave about. The noodles were tougher than other Korean restaurants I've been to, and the beef was kinda overcooked. They do lunch specials on weekdays which look a lot more reasonably priced than their regular menu. Probably best to come here between classes rather than dinner. Mediocre overall, and Koko up the hill is definitely better. The advantage of this place is that it does Korean barbecue and seems to be the only place in the area that does it. I'll give this place a try again for that when I feel like splurging. But aside from barbecue, Koko wins in price, service, and quality. read more

I've had the samgyetang, boodae jeon gol, haemul pajeon, dukbokki here. The samgyetang had great flavor, the filling inside the chicken was really bland and boring though. Dukboki was standard, nothing wrong there. The haemul pajeon was a little on the thick side and didn't have a lot of seafood. this place is a very regular korean restaurant. the food is alright and banchan (side dishes) are very mediocre as well. the food comes out quick. the main problem i have with this restaurant is their terrible service. besides one young lady, every other server is rude and looks to hate their job for the past three years i have been in ithaca. they tell customers to leave quicker for other customers in line and put their hands in the food as they serve. as far as I know (and i have eaten out at many places), they probably have the rudest staff in ithaca. i personally only go to four seasons if other friends want to go. read more

When I signaled them, they not only brought up the cake which they already put candles on, but they also shut the lights, played and sung the "Happy Birthday Song", and gave my friend a little gift! Four Seasons has, I think, some of the best Korean food in Collegetown. The soon tofu is quite tasty (order it extra spicy) and the bibimbap is solid. That having been said, the atmosphere could be a bit better. Some of the tables are placed very close to entrances and when the door opens, you definitely feel it. This isn't so much an issue during the summer, but the Ithaca winters can be a bit harsh. Service can also be a bit slow, even when there aren't many people in the restaurant. The wait staff is very good about seating people promptly and taking orders, but they don't really pay attention to the tables after the food is delivered. Many is the time that I've sat with an empty glass of water for almost 10 minutes without anyone coming to refill it. Overall, 4 stars for the food, but 2 for the service. read more

Fastest service and food-prep I have EVER seen. Every time I ate there weekday lunch, my sidedishes arrived within 30 seconds of having placed my order. And then my main course would arrive 3 minutes later. Their krn bbq is really really good, and they got me started on the jaeyook kimchi train. And to this date they serve the best gam ja tang and bu dae jigae that I have had. And I have had some bad ones, oh yes... The wife is kind of a tough one, but the hubby looks like a nice guy. When I frequented here back in Uni, the server was a Korean guy who was fluent in Chinese! Wow! There were a lot of Chinese fobs eating here, practically 80%. Well, I have been to Four Seasons for several times, every time I talked to myself: "the food is not bad, gibe the servants an other chance." However, I was wrong every time. The owner had such a COLD face and so did her servants, which made me unhappy. There was one time I asked for spicy source, but the owner immediately took it away when she saw I put it down on the table... But I hadn't finished it yet!!! And when I ready for check out, the owner literately refused to return my credit card before she got the tips. I mean, seriously? You don't want to treat your customers like someone who owns your money. We pay for what we get. But, when I came to this restaurant with my friend who is a local American, the servants had a huge smile almost reached to their ears. I have been four seasons for several times with my Asian friends(not Korean), it was the first time I saw they gave us a smile. And and, there was one time, I just recalled, the guy servant even asked me and my friends to change to another table without giving us an opportunity to say NO. In the end, I give two stars for the food, their service was really really bad I have to say. I just want the owner and her servants treat everyone in same quality. oh, four seasons. the site of the beginning of my best non-date ever. had dinner here with someone who possessed the puppy-est of puppy dog eyes. and he knew all the best items to order since it was his "home" turf (well, that's kinda like saying i'd know exactly what to order in a chinese restaurant which isn't exactly true, but koreans tend to have a little more pride, so anyway). not only is it endorsed by koreans, but i ate here quite a few times and think the food is on par with what can be found in SF. so the food's good. but now onto the good stuff. to burn off those starchy calories after dinner, we decided to walk along the stone path of cascadilla gorge. my first time hiking any ithaca gorge! it was really pretty along the whole walk: the sounds of flowing water, birds singing, bright foliage, glistening slabs of stone. and sure, there were a few huge tricky steps along the way, but my friend was there to lend a hand. and once we got to the bottom of the gorge, we found ourselves in the residential area of town, kind of lost. but we recognized n aurora st, so we decided to walk north along it. and then after a few blocks, we spotted the most amazing playground ever in the distance. tube slides and cradle bridges and mazes and wooden ships and swinging playground rings and a freakin ZIP LINE!! apparently, fall creek elementary got a brand new playground in 2000, designed by leathers & associates, known for their crazy custom playground designs. i have yet to see a playground that rivals the design at fall creek. even the towers of the main structure reflected the local architecture, like the clock tower and bridges. we finally decided we had enough fun with the zip line, or maybe the setting sun decided that for us. either way, we continued along aurora for another block until i recognized my street. so we walked back uphill to my place. see, i said it was the best non-date ever. such is the power of four seasons. read more

This is the only place in Ithaca that does table top Korean BBQ, although the prices for the meats to be cooked at the table are insanely expensive for the serving size and quality. This place was terrible! Bad decor and bad lighting aside, the food was pretty bad. One of us had the bulgogi, which was oversweet and pretty fatty. I had the grilled mackerel, which was clearly frozen, dry and chewy. The kids shared the japchae, which was soupy and blah. The miso soup was empty--just miso and scallions. The one nice part was that they gave us shumai on the house for the girls. Overpriced too--had we paid for the 6 shumai, it would have been $6.95. Bulgogi was $18.95. Won't be back. read more

It seems that this place has gotten a lot better from the past when all of the negative reviews were written. I was very satisfied with my meal! I got the bulgolgi dinner box and everything was tasty. The meat and the clear noodles were awesome and the fried rice and dumplings were good too! The salad was also a nice touch. The servers were friendly and attentive and the food came out so quickly (we hadn't even finished eating the small dishes and miso soup that came with our meal before our actual dinner boxes came out). However, I found its menu a little confusing, and my friends and I often got lost reading the menu.
