While driving around we wanted to get something to eat. We stumbled upon Ling Ling Kitchen. I ordered the vegetarian chow fun. The food reminds me of the New York City Chinese restaurants (the food tastes fabulous). The vegetarian chow fun came with soy sauce, mung beans, baby corns, snow peas, sliced white mushrooms, and sliced carrots. Joseph ordered Garlic Chicken. He says it tastes fine. The services rates an A+. We did not have to wait for long to get our food. A small eatery, Ling Ling offers 3 table for customers to eat in. We will definitely return to Ling Ling soon. read more

Have you ever watched a movie and they said if they have this Chinese food menu you know this place is solid. It's true.. it's like I don't know if it's like some kind of network, but I feel like the type of ingredients and stuff that people Chinese food places that have this particular identical menu are the same. It's like I trust it. Anyway, I mean.its not fine dining but everything I've had was good and decent. Mooshu chicken, wonton soup, pan fried dumpling ms and some general Taos are my go tos. Reasonable lunch and dinner special. Honestly enough for two meals if you're a thrifty college student. Never had to wait too long. This is mainly a take-out restaurant with polite speedy service. There are a couple of tables for those who wish to eat dinner there. They have a very good basic Chinese menu, but what I want to rave about is the General Tsao's Chicken. At Ling Ling it is the best it has ever been and is now the best in Ithaca. I don't know if they have a new chef or a new recipe but the sauce, the chicken and yes, finally, even the broccoli are perfect. And they certainly don't skimp on the portions either. This place match's the quality of NYC places. Now make sure you have the right location there are two, but the food is great in both places. This one downtown is just the right spot. Best damn Chinese food in town, period. This place has been my family's choice for Chinese since I was a little kid. The Lo Mein...excellent. The General Tso's...excellent. The shrimp with tofu...excellent. The eggrolls...effing excellent! Plus, the steamed dumplings are exactly like the ones you find in a Hong Kong tea house. So plump, and flavorful inside. You can keep your fancy-pants NYC Chinese. This little restaurant in Northside Plaza is the place to go for quality, affordable food. If I'm comparing it to other Chinese takeout in Ithaca, it gets five stars--it's definitely the best in town. I've had better in bigger cities but all in all, it's solid Chinese takeout. Don't plan to eat there--people are coming in and out to pick up orders and it doesn't seem like a place where you'd want table service, even though there are a few tables. They are very fast--even when the place is crowded they can get an order ready in about ten minutes. The broccoli with garlic is exceptional. And the portions are extremely generous. We usually order two vegetarian dishes--the first time we ordered from Ling Ling, I picked up the bag and was certain I had someone else's order--it felt like it weighed five pounds, which would be a lot for two dishes and rice. So a $20 order is enough for at least two meals for two. read more

I came into the restaurant to order and was immediately greeted. We took a second to figure out what we wanted but were helped as soon as we were ready to order. We ordered fried wantons, beef and shrimp lo mein, and egg drop soup. The fried wantons and Lo mein were fantastic, but the egg drop soup had a very strong, off putting taste. I ended up not eating the egg drop soup but there was more than enough Lo mein to compensate. It was all very reasonably priced and I enjoyed my food. Ling Ling is the best cheap Chinese takeout in Ithaca. Now - don't go there expecting five-star service or some over-the-top special menu items - they don't have those! They have cheap Chinese food, just like a thousand other restaurants like Ling Ling. But - if your expectations are of reasonably good cheap Chinese Food and you are not expecting Wa Jeel of NYC food - it's the best that Ithaca has to offer. This location is the south Ling Ling that mainly offers take out. The food is just as good as the main location. The counter staff is great. I usually request sweet and sour sauce to go so I can dip my eggroll in it and the lady always gives me a HUGE plastic container filled with their sauce. Their lunch specials are super cheap and their food is pretty good. It's not super authentic Chinese food, but it's definitely delicious and a great value. I usually get the chicken and broccoli or sweet and sour chicken. I'm a fan. read more

Ling Ling on Elmira Road is my favorite choice for Chinese food in Ithaca. I have lived here for 35 years and there is no better choice.

Food has been inconsistent. I have always get take out from this restaurant because I live not too far from East hill. Today I got 2 shrimp chow fun. The noodles were very light in color and in big chunks which did not get coated with seasonings. Tasteless unlike the the usual chowfun I ordered there in the past. Worse of all, there were partially Rotten bean sprouts that were mushy and sour. some bean sprouts were in a clump. I don't expect great cooking from Ling Ling but I expect to get fresh edible food. Very upset to be treated in this manner. Though the cook offered to cook another dish for me if I brought the dishes back. I find that inconsiderate. First of all, I'm upset to get a mouthful of bad bean sprouts, then I have to drive there to pick up another two chowfun. I'm in no mood to drive down there just to get another chowfun that had turned my stomach. Ling Ling should have at least offer one free order for the next time. After all they had ruined our dinner and I'm a regular customer. I don't think I will order another chowfun after tasting what I just tasted. I always thought the food there were not great but edible. Now, I'm questioning if it's even worth the risk of getting rotten vegetables mixed into my order. read more

I've lived in the area all my life and had fond memories of Ling Ling. Sadly, the food no longer stands up to the reputation it once had. It's gotten progressively worse, with random food items being either undercooked or way overcooked. I gave it another shot tonight and regretted it immediately when I got home and realized that instead of the Kung Pao chicken I ordered, I was given their cashew chicken which is now famously 90% water chestnuts. I also ordered fried dumplings and was given steamed dumplings instead. If I wanted to eat an entire can of quartered water chestnuts I could have bought one and pan-fried it for less than half the cost. What's more, I fear that these negative reviews are contributing to the horrendous treatment of the staff at Ling Ling by management / ownership. In a town that has arguably the highest number of restaurants per-capita it's sad to think that decent Chinese food is no longer on the menu. read more
