My fiancé and I just stayed here this weekend for a couple nights and had a wonderful stay. The…read moreplace is tranquil and secluded, away from Main St and all the noise, but only a 5 min drive away. Dawn and Ed are great communicators, they had cookies ready for us on arrival, and Dawn met us to check us in and give us info. We stayed in the Rose room, which is roomy, has a heater and an old fireplace which they give you wood for. Bathroom/shower has a separate heater, and the room has its own patio, but we found it's much nicer to explore the grounds and sit on one of their many benches and chairs spread throughout the hillside with nice views. There are cows across the street that are friendly, and we went to say hi to them in the mornings and feed them tall grass. And don't forget to step outside the cottage at night to gaze at the Milky way galaxy...you heard me correctly...not just stars, you can see the faint outline of the Milky way because Julian is a Dark Sky community and Ed and Dawn's place is very dark at night...epic! Breakfasts are a delicious two course meal of a fruit dish and main. Added bonus is chatting with Ed and Dawn about Julian history and getting tips on places to go/eat. Ed and Dawn were also accommodating to bring our breakfast to their outdoor patio since my fiancé had some smell sensitivity to the food cooking in the main room (but also, it's kind of nicer to sit outside, but then you miss communing with the other guests) The main breakfast/communal area has a bunch of books and movies you can check out and take to your room, along with microwavable popcorn...we watched Gone with the Wind on VHS with the fire burning at night...such a charming and memorable time! Thanks Dawn and Ed! Our only recommendations would be: 1) for those with allergies, getting some cotton bed sheets rather than microfiber/synthetic material (we asked but they didn't have any at the time) 2) while we loved the charm of the themed rooms, there is just a lot of stuff, i.e. old teddy bears/dolls on shelves, old style window curtains that are more for show rather than necessary since the windows already have blinds, these things just make the room feel crowded and also gather dust. But maybe that's just our minimalist preference? 3) The room is advertised with a Queen bed, but seemed more like a Full (perhaps it's a European Queen?), just seemed on the smaller side. In any event, we'll probably try to book the Apple room next time which has a King size bed (which was already taken during our stay) and has a view into the woods. 4) the couch/futon cushion is detached from the wood frame and has a tendency to slide around, and it's also bigger than the seating area, so you could end up sitting on the cushion but not the frame, thus falling down.

First, the biggest issue: roaches and spiders. Yes, you read that correctly. There were both roaches and spiders in my room. When I reported it to the front desk, I was shocked by the response. The employee simply said, "That's common here," as if it were completely normal. Instead of offering a meaningful solution, they handed me a new toothbrush because a roach had crawled all over mine. And that was it! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I've contacted the corporate office and hope they'll offer a refund or some other form of resolution. The food was decent, but it was overpriced. You won't find much on the menu for under $13. On a positive note, the spa was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed my treatments, and the staff there were warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Along with the kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders, they provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the front desk, whose response to a serious cleanliness issue fell far short of what I expected. The furniture is falling apart and the floor is stained. The cleanliness of this place is unfortunately subpar. There were random rags just laying around for some reason, and no one picked them up (so I did). I went here as a stop on a road trip and had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel…read more We got to our room and it was 84 degrees inside and tried to turn down the AC, and after over two hours it got even hotter at 85 degrees. The thermostat said the filter needed changing, and we went to reception and got a new room. We got a new room after dinner and it was just as hot inside. We also had dinner at Fox Bistro and some people on our party waited an hour and half for drinks, and my medium steak came out overcooked and chewy. The fries and vegetables were from frozen bags at the market and were soggy and barely cooked. We called reception who sent up a maintenance tech who was very nice, but said the system was missing filters then determined the blower motor was broken. We called reception and spoke to Laurie, who was incredibly rude and blatantly accused us of switching rooms to hide guests in other rooms and said we had even got a rollaway cot, which we had never requested nor received. We insisted this wasn't the case and she said 'sure it's not' and started threatening to shut off our AC. She said she could give us another room that was 86 inside. We decided to stay in our room and were uncomfortable all night and my friend almost got heat stroke. Also, the pipe to our shower was broken and spraying water all over the bathroom. The situation with the AC made our stay bad, and Laurie made it even worse. We went to the front desk in the morning to check out and I asked for the manager's info. The person at reception said she'd 'already heard about us' in a very condescending manner. I'll be giving the manager a call on Tuesday when she's back, because apparently they don't have a weekend manger. I'll also be opening up a credit card chargeback considering how bad my experience was. I will never be staying here again and definitely recommend avoiding it. I would give zero stars if I could.

We've stayed in many rentals over the years, and Two Sisters Cottage is one of the nicest. The owners are lovely people. The house has charming decorations. The gas fire place heats up the front of the house just fine. We prefer the bedrooms to be cooler for sleeping. The portable heaters work well if you need to warm up the bathroom or bedroom. The furniture and beds are comfy. We don't use the dishwasher; we hand wash our dishes. They have a TV, DVD, and plenty of games to play. They have a lovely front yard with furniture to sit under the tree and people watch. They have double-paned windows. You're right in town with easy access to shopping and eating. The people who run the shops are very nice and we always stop to visit with them. Many of the restaurants and cafes are "average" but we have found a few standouts: Romano's Italian, Soups and Such, Jeremy's on the Hill, Wynola Pizza Express, Apple Alley, and Grannies. Miner's Diner has the BEST malts and shakes ever!!! We also love the Tea House. We love Julian and Two Sisters Cottage. This is not a resort, this is a homey, small town hangout.

We lucked across Two Sisters' on Yelp, and made a last-minute reservation for two nights. Well... we loved Julian and Two Sisters' so much we wound up extending our stay to 5 days/4 nights. As an added bonus, Teri and her husband Rich were the most gracious and accommodating hosts anyone could ask for. They went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. The cottage itself is spacious, yet cozy as can be. Neat as a pin and clean as a whistle...! The gas fireplace in the front room is positively delightful. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and utensils. I can't imagine why anyone would give TSC a negative review. The space heaters for the bathroom/bedrooms are quite adequate (it was quite cold outside during our stay), and there are down comforters in the closets. The neighborhood is walk/run friendly. Our dog loved it too. The price is more than reasonable for the area, and the pet fee was the least expensive we saw. I would HIGHLY recommend Two Sisters' to anyone that asks. As far as the town itself goes, we went into a number of the shops and never felt like we were being watched over unnecessarily. The merchants we interacted with were accommodating and friendly.

Built for family fun and big groups!…read more We booked the Mountain Retreat Cottage in Ramona and unfortunately the VRBO system accidentally double-booked it. Carissa, the host, immediately reached out and offered an amazing solution: stay at their other much larger property (Red Barn Ranch) for the same price! Yes, please. This property is meant for larger groups, like family reunions, and our family of four felt privileged to have it to ourselves. The home is set up with bedrooms galore, three bathrooms, washer and dryer, large porch and stocked kitchen (including a snack basket). Outside there is a chicken coop with chickens, ducks and peacocks along with food (dehydrated meal worms) for a quarter. There's a greenhouse you can peer into with loofahs, picnic tables, a hot tub, fire pit and 24/7 farm stand with one free dozen eggs for guests. There's also a huge separate game room with billiards, a piano, darts, old-style arcade games including Pac-Man, Asteroids and more. Best of all, Carissa is responsive and she and Cory make sure you have everything you need or know where to go to find it. Good to know: In the winter it's chilly at night in the game room even with the space heaters on, bring layers. Bring slippers too as the home has a no-shoe policy and the plank floors can be chilly with just socks. Also, we didn't see facial tissue, so you might want to bring that too. Nearby check out the Ramona Grasslands Preserve for a walk with beautiful mountain views and eagle sightings. Also Farmstand 67 is worth a visit with a wonderful make-your-own succulent area including colored stones, soil, rocks for drainage and lots of cute small pots.
