The owner, Matt Low, was very friendly and communicative with us regarding setting up a recurring weekly visit by his crew until we no longer needed his company's services. We agreed on Wednesdays as the best day for them to come and after their first visit, we initially thought they had done a pretty good and uniform job with the cutting and edging of the front and back lawns. However, upon closer inspection we began to notice some issues with the lawn and more importantly, our vinyl fence gate that was damaged and obviously attributable to his crew. Firstly, we noticed considerable black rubber smudge marks on our fence all along the perimeter of the back lawn. These smudge marks were about a foot off the ground and were clearly new (not from our smaller-wheeled Toro lawn mower's wheels) and matched up perfectly with the pneumatic tires on the commercial grade mower's used by his teams. Secondly, we noticed the grass was cut WAY too low...low enough in spots to see the white of the grass (the green was totally gone in these areas) where it grows closest to the ground. Their blades were so low, in fact, that some barely ground-level roots of our Globe Willow tree were nicked with the bark stripped away showing the inner white fibers of the root. The grass has recovered by now and we suspect the tree roots will heal as well. When we told Matt about the shortness of the cut and the damaged roots, he said he'd mention it to his guy, and though we don't doubt that conversation would indeed take place, we made a note to ourselves to make sure we reminded them about our requirements for the blade height to be raised before they cut our yard again. Thirdly, and most importantly, about 3 days after their 1st visit we noticed that our vinyl fence's gate (on the east side of our property) was severely damaged and inoperable. The bottom vinyl piece was cracked and splintered and the 5 slats were dislogded from the top and bottom pieces where they normally are, and almost falling on the ground. When we contacted Matt about this his first question was "why did it take you 3 days to notice it?" We told him that we normally only use that gate to take our lawn mower through it to get to either side of the house to mow our lawns, and since they had just come out just days earlier, we hadn't needed to use or even be near the gate to notice the damage. Ultimately, he agreed that his guys did the damage and asked us to gather a few estimates from fencing contractors for replacement or repair of the gate, and we did just that. After 3 written estimates were recieved, ranging from $600 to $750 for a replacement new gate, we emailed the estimates to him and waited for his response. We never heard back from him either by email, text or phone. Numerous attempts were made to connect with him (really...10+ attempts!), with no success. My wife and I searched the internet for his business info and found he worked out of a location in town, and paid him a surprise visit. He was polite (though a bit abrupt with his language and tone) but absolutely made no promises or commitments to rectifying the damage made by his crew or to compensate us monetarily so we could get it fixed ourselves. At this point we are at an impass as to whether or not we'll be reimbursed for the expense of fixing our gate, even though we're going to get it repaired since we have dogs and cannot have our back yard exposed by a missing or broken gate. This description of events and timeline is from my own recollection and I stand by them as verifiable and factual. I submit these comments ragarding my interractions with Matt Low and his lawn care crew purely as a representation of the facts of our experience, and am not suggesting that any other customers will have or have had the same experiences. But, be forewarned. If you hire him, be present when the work is being done, and take pictures BEFORE and AFTER their visit.
