Currently staying at the Creekside Village Resort in Basye, VA. Check-in process was cool even…read morethough we arrived late at night (midnight). They place the keys in a VERY secure lockbox in an envelope with your name on it. You need a passcode to get into it, so it's not easy to break into. The drive to the resort was terrifying in the middle of the night, though, I will say. However, the unit itself was pretty cozy & I liked that it felt more homey than most modern & newer resorts trying hard to be fancy. It goes to show that you don't need a ton of expensive things to have a good vacation. I only docked a star because there were some things they didn't provide for a unit that's basically a 2-bedroom apartment: a dish rack, a vacuum (the place is fully carpeted), & steady internet service. The internet here is kinda spotty & keeps disconnecting every few minutes. I get that it's the mountains, but I also live in the mountains & it's not this bad. One of the locks on the screen door for the back balcony is also broken, which kinda sucks. Other than those minor things, it's a pretty good place to go for vacation & to get away from the world & be in nature. Lots of nature attractions all around. Pool is closed during COVID, tho, so don't get your hopes up.

I rented here from June 2007-June 2010 as I was a nervous young adult moving out on his own for the first time, hours from home. Dealt directly with Paul who was very friendly, kind, and understanding. His father Bill was also a great guy to deal with. Paul showed me a unit but when he called the office to get the paperwork ready, it had been rented. No sweat - the downstairs apartment would be ready in two months so Paul set me up with a temporary (and furnished) townhouse for six weeks prior to my apartment being available. On move-in day for the townhouse, I got stuck in a traffic jam while driving down from Pittsburgh and was going to miss meeting the utility people, but Bill went above and beyond by being there and handling them for me while I was in traffic. While the townhouse needed some work (apparently the previous tenants skipped out on a lease and left a lot of damages) it was quite adequate for the six weeks I needed it. Hell, I was only charged for one bedroom for one month, so it was a great deal. Moving into my new place in August 2007 was a snap. Got my keys, and even Paul could detect how nervous I was being out on my own and helped point me to various activities and organizations in town to meet new people. I lived in two different apartments with Riner, one near EMU for two years and one in Bridgewater for my final year (before moving to Buena Vista). Anytime something went wrong, it was fixed within 24 hours. Washer quit on me - replaced the next morning. Water heater failed - replaced that evening. Dishwasher broke - replaced within an hour! I can't say any more good things about their property maintenance. As far as the deposit goes, most places don't typically like to give back deposits and I realized this in my years of renting. Their deductions were fair and while I didn't get all of my deposit back, I got most of it. You have to do your part. All in all, Paul and Bill were great to deal with and I highly recommend Riner Rentals for renting apartments.

I would honestly give 0 stars if I could. I have been house…read morehunting for months and decided that it would be best to rent- I submitted an application for a home that looked beautiful online. I live 3 hours away, but the property looked promising. The application was accepted, and I went to look at the property that weekend. Upon arrival, the "secluded/private" property promised online was directly beside TWO other houses that were not visible in the images posted online. Needless to say, the inside of the home was unkempt and falsely advertised, as well. The property manager (Hanie Mehrani) showing the house was the most disappointing part of my experience with Riner Rentals. She knew absolutely NOTHING about the property: gas, electric, heat, etc. Every question asked was answered with "I do not know" or "I am not sure". Furthermore; after declining the rental, I was told my application could be used towards another property. I reached out to Hanie with another property listed by Riner Rentals, and never received any response. I called/left a voicemail to Riner Rentals for other assistance, and never received a call back. The business is poorly ran, with unhelpful and unreliable employees. I would highly recommend seeking rental assistance and services elsewhere.
