I've been going to Vichida for about two years now, just doing haircuts at the time. When I decided to dye my hair again, I asked Vichida for her advice on natural hair colors to try out for my wedding. As usual, she's so knowledgeable and insightful with her recommendations on my hair wants and needs, and she'll always have your best interests in mind when consulting on everything hair related! She recommended a mushroom brown balayage, and I looked around on the internet for different styles. I decided I couldn't resist adding some light violet in, and she flawlessly blended it into my hair! The entire experience was so relaxing, and I was also able to get some time in to work on my own side project stuff while getting my hair done. Thank you again, Vichida, for making me feel and look amazing after every haircut, and now adding coloring to my experience with you! You're my all-time favorite!

I've been seeing Vichida for a couple of years now and she never disappoints! Most recently she did a balayage/high lift and I'm obsessed. Gorgeous dimension and the perfect tone. Every visit, she listens, works with real care, and I always leave thrilled. If you want a stylist you can trust visit after visit, Vichida is the one. Highly recommend!

After DIY-ing my hair at home for over 10 years, I decided it was time to invest in an actual professional to go blonde. I did a lot of research because 1. I have thick Asian hair that is notorious for getting stuck at orange/yellow, and 2. parts of my hair were at all different stages of bleach/dye. I found Fox and Belle and liked that they had good reviews and also lots of experience bleaching asian hair. At my first appt, Linda recommended doing full highlights (instead of bleaching everything) to achieve the same blonde look, but with easier maintenance and grow-out. We started with removing the mismatch colors and adding highlights to blend everything out - see the before and after photo for her amazing work. When I chopped off most of the old dye months later, we were able to get to the blonde look I've always wanted! I've been going for about 2 years now, and Linda always does amazing work. She is so skilled, precise, and thorough, and she really considers your hair condition and health. When I messed up my hair overseas last year, she again was able to correct my mistakes - I've learned my lesson now!! I trust her to always give the perfect tone and color to complement my complexion even when I'm very vague in what I want. My hair always grows out beautifully with no weird lines or brassy colors. Linda is also super easy to talk to - not overly chatty, and not awkwardly silent - which is nice when spending hours together. The salon itself is super cute with complementary snacks and drinks, including seltzers and wine. Everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming as well - I feel like you really can't go wrong with whoever you see. But I definitely recommend Linda for all of your hair color needs!

Reena is truly the best. I've been going to her for so many years now. She's a person who will take care of your hair like it's her own. She's very thoughtful and cares about hair health. Does an AMAZING job. The most prettiest hair balayages done with thought and precision. She also gives best hair cut. SHE IS A HAIR GODDESS. Believe me! My hair health and quality has improved so much with her. I look forward to all my appointments with her.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you want salon quality! I've been coming to this salon for years--basically since they first opened--and the service has always been consistently amazing no matter who you see. Every stylist is talented, welcoming, and genuinely cares about their clients. Huge thank you to Judy (owner) for building such an incredible team--she's truly one of the coolest and most caring bosses out there! That said, I have to give a special shoutout to my go-to girl, Lynn. Her scalp massages are next level--honestly the best in the world for me, no exaggeration. It's something I look forward to EVERY single visit (I always wish it lasted even longer lol!). She also has an incredible eye for color and style. Whether I try to describe what I want or show her a photo, she always nails it. Lynn is super polite and accommodating, and she has the perfect balance of being friendly and social while also picking up on cues when I just want to relax--especially since some of my appointments can be up to 4 hours long. The salon itself is so thoughtful--they offer cute touches like holiday goodie bags, a snack bar, and coffee/fancy teas, which really elevate the whole experience. I always leave feeling refreshed, confident, and like a brand new person with that fresh, salon-quality hair. THANK YOU LYNN!

I've been going to Vichida for a couple of years now for hi lifts and I will continue to come back to see her. I've had a hard time finding someone who can lift my hair to the color I want, but she does it so well. I always get compliments on my hair color!! Not only is she meticulous and great at her job, she is the sweetest and kindest angel. I know that I'm going to be taken care of whenever I see her. She also went out of her way helping me find the correct color hair extensions for my wedding, sending me multiple links and suggestions. Even my bridal hairstylist commented on how perfect the match was!! The salon is also great! They have snacks, and parking has always been so easy for me!

Before & After color correction service

Cristi did my color and it turned out amazing and I'm so happy. This is the best my color has looked like it years! I've been busy so I've been getting my hair done at another salon closer to my house...but since my sister is getting married next month, it was time I returned to Fox and Belle. It's been three years since they've done my hair but they all welcomed me back in like I never left. Everyone is so nice there. I'm so happy and I feel so pretty.

    Cool blonde balayage

I hardly ever write reviews but I need to give a shoutout to my wonderful hair stylist Reena, she is the best! Before Reena, I was never able to find a stylist that could so easily understand what I wanted and had the patience and skill to execute it fully. She is so flexible and creative with the methods she uses, and always keeps the health of my hair in mind. Before finding her, I had visited a different stylist for a consultation and this other stylist was planning to fully bleach my dark-blonde/faded red hair, and get it to all blonde quickly. It was such a difference to then go to Fox and Belle and have a consultation with Reena who came up with a plan to gradully get me to my blonde end-goal by first transforming my old red-dyed hair into an ombre sunset of lovely coral and peach tones to blend into my natural color (it turned out so much better than I could have imagined) and then once that had grown out and faded she was able to do a bleach-free balayage that gave me the blonde I wanted and will still look good as my roots grow out. And because of her methods, my hair feels so soft and healthy! It makes the whole process so stress-free because I know my hair is in the best hands with her. I have left each of my appointments feeling beautiful and so much more confident thanks to her. And on top of all that, Reena has given me so much great advice on what products and tools to use on my hair, how to prevent damage, and how I can style it myself. Everyone at this salon is so friendly and the environment is the most welcoming and relaxed I have experienced. I especially love how much natural light and fresh air there is in the salon. If you are thinking about booking a service here you should go for it and book it with Reena so she can work her magic on your hair!

I had my hair done by Maritza and I honestly think she's the best hair stylist I've ever had. She didn't just do an amazing job on my hair -- she made the whole experience feel special. She explained everything she was doing, shared tips and information, and checked in with me the entire time. She also made me feel so comfortable, offered me drinks, and created such a welcoming vibe. You can tell she really cares about her clients and loves what she does. Highly, highly recommend her. If you're looking for someone who listens, follows up, and actually delivers exactly what you want, go see Maritza!

Maritza has been cutting my hair for years and she never misses. She always understands what I want and helps maintain my hair healthy and beautiful. She is friendly and always greets me with a smile. Can't wait to see her for my next haircut and color.

I was stoked for her! But since then, I've been adrift and searching for my hair match, trying out a new stylist for each cut. (My hair is fine but wavy with a weird cowlick, so it needs just the right layers. I had some great cuts and some so-so cuts, but never the right combo of close enough, a decent amount of availability that I'm not waiting months or driving across the bay, AND a great cut.) I tried Mark at Maru on a random rec from a friend whose daughter works at the salon--and after one cut, I feel like my search is over! The salon is very well-run and had an opening within a couple weeks. I arrived on time, was offered herbal tea, and waited under five minutes. It's in a nice spot in Berkeley with plenty of street parking with pretty cheap meters--$4. Mark asked me what I was looking for, got it right away, and was of course fun to chat with. I walked out with a cut I love for a reasonable price. I will definitely be back!

I'd been in Berkeley for three weeks straight, about two weeks past my last haircut, and the…read moresituation was becoming untenable. I was not scheduled to return to LA for several more weeks. We were having an 87-degree day in West Berkeley, which -- for those unfamiliar -- is hot for West Berkeley, a neighborhood where the default setting is breezy and cloudy and lovely and sixty-three degrees, the kind of microclimate that lets you own one jacket and never think about it. Eighty-seven degrees in West Berkeley is an event. Eighty-seven degrees with hair that's two weeks past due is a crisis. I have Asian hair. I've written about this before. It is coarse and thick and grows outward like a porcupine asserting its personal space, and my coping mechanism in Los Angeles was to throw $85 at a hipster barbershop every three weeks to make it stop. This worked in the way that all expensive coping mechanisms work -- reliably, but at a cost that quietly compounds until one day you do the annual math and feel ill. 2026 being what it is, and a dollar these days being asked to do about a dollar forty's worth of work, I needed a new tack. I asked an AI assistant for a good cheap haircut in Berkeley and got several suggestions, which I then searched on Yelp -- yes, the very Yelp you are looking at, imagine that -- for reviews. One thing I noticed about La Petite was that people mentioned Asian women cutting hair there, and the photos confirmed it. I had a thought, the kind of thought that sounds reductive when you say it out loud but is grounded in lived experience: Asian women probably know how to deal with hair like mine. This is not a stereotype. This is pattern recognition developed over decades of watching non-Asian barbers stare at my head with the quiet bewilderment of someone asked to solve a math problem in a language they don't speak. No shade intended, just facts. So I gave La Petite a go. You watch closely when someone new is cutting your hair. You can't help it. You're tracking every snip in the mirror, reading their hands the way you'd read a stranger's driving in the first five minutes of a road trip -- are we safe here, does this person know what they're doing, should I have said something three turns ago. About halfway through, I watched her take volume out of my hair in a way that hadn't been done in years -- not just trimming the length but actually understanding the architecture of thick Asian hair, where the bulk lives, how it falls, how it will eventually grow out, where it needs to be thinned so it lies flat instead of projecting horizontally from your skull like it's staging a protest. She knew. I knew she knew. I had my new stylist. Twenty-eight dollars. Twenty-eight dollars, and I walked out with the best haircut I've had in longer than I'd like to admit. That's $57 left over from what I was paying in LA -- enough to buy groceries, or three martinis at happy hour, or a pizza at June's, or whatever you buy when you realize you've been dramatically overpaying for a basic human service because you confused a cool neighborhood and exposed brick with competence. La Petite has neither exposed brick nor a cocktail menu. What it has is someone who looked at my difficult hair and knew exactly what to do with it, which is the only thing that has ever mattered and the only thing I'm paying for from now on.

I went to get a haircut Friday afternoon for a special occasion and showed them exactly what I…read morewanted: a classic Ben Affleck Bruce Wayne-style haircut with regular-sized sideburns, just like the character. They asked me if I was graduating, and I said no, I was meeting my fiancée's mom the next day. Five minutes before the haircut was finished, the stylist took a big chunk off my right sideburn. She cut it too high, which ruined the whole haircut, especially since my face shape doesn't suit short sideburns. I told her I didn't like it. I didn't overreact or yell, I was just uncomfortable. The hairdresser said, "Too bad!" and tried to dismiss the issue. I told her again that she should have asked me about the length. She then took it personally and told her boss that I was making things up so I wouldn't pay, saying, "They do this so they don't pay." What do you mean by "they"? Not only did I feel dismissed and treated unprofessionally, but also disrespected. I was upset after the whole situation, but even then I was willing to pay and didn't want to leave without paying because I didn't want to prove her point. Plus, it's not that expensive. At the end, the stylist said she had 40 years of experience. Well, after this, it feels like you wasted 40 years and somehow skipped the basics of customer service. Not coming back, even after being offered a free haircut. I would rather pay three times what I paid today for a standard service where you're treated with basic courtesy.
