I went here after a friend recommended it and got probably one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. For some background my hair prior was what is best described as an overly poofy combover. The gentleman who helped me asked me what I was looking for and I replied a trim. I also told him that I had an important event in two weeks that I needed to look good for. He proceeded to give me a full zero fade with a "trim" to the top. Forget the fact that I was just looking for a trim but he didn't even fade it properly! The best way to describe the haircut I got would be a shaved head with a long and messy pile of hair at the top. Realizing it was a lost cause I asked the manager for a refund but he insisted that I allow him to fix it. The 'fixed' result: a shaved head with a shorter and neater pile of hair at the top. When I followed up with my refund request the manager proceeded to get hostile and stated that he would not refund me because he "fixed" it. I stated that everyone who had seen my hair had told me it was terrible and would lead to him getting bad publicity. He responded emphatically that he didn't care. At this point, the manager probably realizing how horrible he was coming across in front of his other customers started to proclaim loudly that he cares about everyone of his clients. He insisted that my hair would look "just fine" in one week and if I was not pleased he would refund me then. Refund or not I won't be coming back. read more

I've got Asian hair and no one cuts it right, first world problems D: When a Great Clips or even fancy salon doesn't quite give your hair the loving it needs, Fox Hair is a great place for a haircut! Situated in Ktown, they've had their fare share and experience with Asian hair. They do a lot of perms, highlighting, coloring, and all that jazz, but for me, a simple shampoo and haircut will do :) As with pretty much all haircuts, the fresh cut looks slightly different than after you wash your hair again. But I've been satisfied with my cuts whether it was with Bella, Monica, or Aiden-- and I'm sure the other hair stylists are fantastic as well! ^_^ The Fox Hair location faces towards Old Denton road. The salon is clean, spacious, and plays Kpop songs on the little TVs. Yesh, they speak English and take credit card (although you get a 10% discount if you pay in cash!). A women's haircut is $30 not including tip, and if my eavesdropping skills serve me well, a guy's haircut is $20/25. It's easier calling in early for an appointment than waiting for one. RECOMMEND ASHLEY for digital perm! I read all the high reviews for Andy but he was all booked this weekend so got a digital perm with Ashley and she was AMAZING! Before we began, she asked if I had a picture so that she knew exactly how I wanted my hair which I really appreciated. Usually I hate when stylists talk to me while I'm getting my hair done but she was so friendly and relatable so the conversation never turned awkward. The whole process went by very smoothly and Ashley made sure to check up on me periodically. She is literally the bomb dot com. And I love my hair !!! I got a haircut here and it was a good haircut. That said, there are lots of places that can give you a good haircut. However, I would never return to this place again. The gal who cut my hair burned my scalp with a mint hair shampoo. I don't fault her for doing so. She had no idea that I was allergic to mint shampoo. However, she did not immediately wash my hair with water to rinse out the burning sensation. She argued with me. She took a photo of my scalp, showed it to me and said, "rook ok, rook ok." Yes, it does look ok, but it feels like it's on freaking fire! I don't understand why she didn't just immediately washed my hair again without shampoo to get rid of the burning sensation. I stood there and argued with her about it for 15 minutes! Why argue about it?! Just wash the doggone hair! It costs zero dollars to rinse hair with water. Christine K said that the owner is an unscrupulous business owner. I concur. I know for a fact that the cosmetology license exam is in English. However, most of the girls who work at this salon don't speak a peep of English. Therefore, most of the employees who work here are probably here illegally. I can also see that they don't follow Western sanitation practices. They did not dip their tools in an antiseptic solution nor did they spray their tools with a pediculicide before cutting hair. The only reason that I didn't call INS on them is because I am an immigrant to America myself so I don't want these girls to get in trouble. However, unless you want to get your hair cut in an unsanitary fashion, argue with the stylist and don't mind the stylists not able to speak a peep of English, I suggest that you give this place a pass. read more

I would give zero star if I could. Eric was my stylist. Do not recommend him. Never use Eric. I went in for a digital perm and when I told him that, he laughed at me and said He couldnt do digital perm for me. Which I was ok with and asked what he recommended. He continues to laugh at me and told me to get a regular perm. I should have left then but I decided to go with it. I sat in his chair and he continues to laugh at me so I told him i changed my mind that I didnt want to do perms any more. Then he said too late and puts bunch of stuff in my hair and proceeds to perm my hair. Anyway, he kept laughing at me, mocking me for my weight. He told me I should exercise more. Excuse me but I didnt come to fox hair to get mocked and laughed at. He charged me $120 for a perm and stood there and stared at me while I was signing my receipt and watching how much tip i was leaving him. So uncomfortable. I've always had a good experience at Fox Hair. I've always gotten a good haircut and was provided with great service. I took a chance and wanted to try out digital perm. I have always wanted it but scared to actually go through with it. I booked my appointment with Andy. (Great decision!) he assessed my hair and was giving me his input on what could be done. If you speak Korean then go have your hair cut here. Their employees are capable of good haircuts. However, since most of their employees speak no English, I would not recommend you come here unless you can speak fluent Korean. If you'll take a look at all the reviews, you'll notice that all the negative ones are from people who had a miscommunication. Look at Jonathan L's "trim". They shaved his head! Hanna K thought she was smart and showed them a photo of what she wanted but it didn't work. Her stylist didn't cut it right due to the language barrier. A photo is worth a thousand words, but you sometimes still need to get a couple words in to clarify the photo. For a good haircut only if you speak Korean, go to Fox Hair. read more

I was introduced to this place by a good friend and haven't gone anywhere else since. It is located in an Asian plaza so they have lot of Asian clientele and know how to work with Asian hair. I have gone to different stylists here and they all do a great job. The salon is clean and spacious. I always make an appointment but usually still have to wait 10-15 minutes. Yuri quit. I'm so sad... she's not coming back I think ever.. because I was told she was going to be busy raising her baby. Andy. I used to get my hair done from him as well as my mom and brother. I do think it's because he has become a bit more popular like someone mentioned, but he was very rude. My mom wanted to get her hair cut a little below the shoulders and he said go short or nope you can't cut it. Who says that to a customer? You can't decide for them what they want. And then she asked for a wave perm and he says 'no, you're hair is way too damaged' and gives her a brazillian hair treatment for 120. Something she was reluctant to do, but agreed since we've been with him for a while. Then he emphasized very often throughout the treatment on the AMAZING price he's offering saying how good of a deal he's cutting us, which I found out later through phone calls other asian salons offer the treatment at the same price. Her hair was slightly wavy (from a previous perm) and the treatment straightened out her hair. She complained that it looks too long and asked for a trim. Where he got MAD and told her 'why didn't you tell me earlier instead of making me waste the expensive treatment' and refused to cut it. Refused? Seriously? And told her to come back in a month. I don't know what has gotten into his head lately but his cocky condescending attitude is not what you want to pay for. Customer is king, and if you're going to ignore someone's requests like that and disrespect someone who's 20 years older than you? Your service is not worth it. Needless to say, I nor my family members will NEVER NEVER NEVER be returning to Fox Hair again. read more

He is close to being a wizard because he can make one ugly hair into a beautiful sleek style. I should be ashamed of myself cause I've getting my hair done at Fox hair ever since they opened. Can I call myself a loyal customer? If they had a point system of how many times you recommended your stylist to others. Well, when Yuri left Leekaja Hairbis (see my other review) I was quite devastated, and the next two people who I let cut my hair at Leekaja made me look 1) like I just rolled out of bed, always and 2) like I was an old Korean man. Seriously my Korean friend made fun of my 2nd haircut and said I looked liked an old Korean man. So, I thought I would try some place new. After reading that Andy moved to this location, I thought I would give him (and Fox Hair) a try. Good idea. It's a nicely decorated place, friendly staff, and I was pretty happy with my haircut. I got my perm and haircut for $60, which is actually $10 less than what I used to pay. Score! On the even bigger plus side, while chatting with Andy I discovered that Yuri will probably start working there in December as well. Yay! But, until that day I will hold onto that last star. The store is located facing Old Denton Road, so although it's in the same overall complex as H-Mart, it's not adjacent. For those who can't read Korean, the sign for Fox Hair is harder to find (it's yellow and mostly Korean, except for "Fox Hair" in small lettering). I myself drove by it once without even realizing. Anyways, this is not really a place for walk-ins, it seems, so calling ahead for appointment is highly recommended. read more

$20 - Men's haircut/wash/style; $25 - Women's haircut/wash/style Claire cut my boyfriend's hair and did a great job. She doesn't speak English, but was able to communicate effectively using the receptionist/assistant as a translator. They gave my bf a binder full of images to choose his haircut from since he didn't have a certain look in mind. Claire tweaked the cut a bit to fit his face, and finished in approximately 15 minutes. After the haircut, the assistant rewashed the hair (a major plus!) before Claire finally styled his hair. We went on a Tuesday afternoon, and it was quite busy - scheduling an appointment is a good idea if you don't want to wait too long. Monica cut my hair, and she was equally good. I have very thick/long asian hair and she was able to make it light (without thinning it too much) and trim my bangs without making them too short (which stylists always seem to do at asian salons -_-). I was also given a binder of pictures to choose my cut from, and was able to get alot of feedback from Monica on which cut she thought would work best with my face. She speaks enough English to understand what her clients want, and to convey her own suggestions/tips. The haircut/styling took about 30 minutes to finish. You get what you paid for. I usually get my haircuts at the American salons, but after reading reviews from fellow yelpers claiming at Fox Hair they know how to cut Asian hair, I decided to give it a try. I made an appointment and the lady over the phone booked me with Monica. For $25, it's only haircut no hair washing. Okay, I can deal with that. Monica and I had a major language barrier (which I knew from the beginning, therefore I'm not complaining). But then, it starts going downhill. During the middle of our session Monica got a broom out and start brushing all the hair on the floor which I find it very unsanitary! Why would you do that during a session with a customer? Monica did not wash her hands and proceed to cutting my hair. I also have a scar on top of my head underneath my hair ever since I was a child. Monica was VERY insensitive. She went "OH MY, WHAT IS THATTTT??? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!" I have had many haircuts in different salons. This is the first time any stylist ever brought up my scar. THIS IS SO RUDE! I am very sad.. It was the first time try getting my hair cut at this place. Medium hair to short hair. But the result was unbalanced short hair(?) each side of hair is in different length. After came back to the home, I noticed the problem and called to the salon to ask about it. I was kind of curious if this style was intended or mistake. The designer said that it was not her mistake but my previous hair style was the problem. Because my hair was already layered, she could not make my right and left side of hair even. Hm.. first of all, I have been doing even hair with no layers for a long time, so it would not be true my hair was already layered. No more argument. Despite the language barrier, he did a good job cutting, diagnosing my hair type, and recommended me a hair product for home. Months gone by and how long can a person be on vacation, I asked myself. I then went yelping and found Fox Hair with great reviews. Read them and found out that the hairdresser Andy who they say is on vacation in korea is actually working here at Fox Hair. Feeling excited, I picked up the phone and called. Made an appointment.
