Kuddos for Fox"s Treats and Eats! Have always enjoyed eating at Fox's. But for Thanksgiving I ordered 2 Pecan Pies to add to our traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Fox's made it super easy to order by phone. The pies were ready for pickup when stated and were wonderful! Our crowd bragged on the pies and they were consumed without even a crumb left! This is the first time we've been able to go to this place and it was open. Usually, we go to the antique store next door. The inside was nicely decorated and had several little tables and a bathroom. The counter is small and there is also a display for the desserts. The food did look amazing and smelled great unfortunately being a person who can't eat gluten there was literally nothing I could eat here. The locals seemed to love it as it was hopping with folks. read more

Oh boy Fox's... you've just won my sandwich heart. This spot was designed for locals. I'm glad they'll get the tourist money (being attached to Cedar Chest and all made famous by a couple who lives in TX) but I'm most glad this spot is family owned by a local Texas couple who have decided to make a 50's diner feel deli with sweets galore! The sandwiches are absolutely incredible. Homemade bread is the way to go... for you tourists here is a hint: If someone says would you like the homemade bread or the white store bought? You should respond, "ma'am if it's homemade I'll take it. I wouldn't dream of insulting you by eating store bought!" Those words will enter you into a sandwich paradise. Nothing is over priced, and you get a filling sandwich and chips for a great price. Inexpensive is something most people get worried about, but somehow these sandwiches are made with love and the price is half what I'd be willing to pay! Also... the iced tea... wow! It's so fresh, strong, and I don't know if it's sun tea or what they are doing but it's flipping amazing. To top everything off they have BLUE BELL ice cream. If you're not from Texas Blue Bell is what your life is missing. It is the best of the best when it comes to ice cream. Leave your yankee ice cream and experience more Texas. The Cherry On Top for this sweet little piece of hometown McGregor Texas is the service. Sweet, kind, polite, and with a smile. Do them a favor and be the same thing back to them! My wife volunteers at REACH Therapeutic Riding Center near here and noticed several volunteers were getting take out from here. So I tried it. First, note it is only open from 11AM until 4PM. Second, this place is ran by adults; that is refreshing. Third, daily soup and pie May run out. The portions are large. I had a Chef Salad and it made two meals. My wife had chicken salad, cottage cheese and delicious fruit. She also had the coconut cream pie and said it was excellent. We have been looking for a good, healthy lunch spot and we have found it. I loved this cute little sandwich/soup/salad cafe in the Cedar Chest Antique Mall. I enjoyed a peach iced tea and a chicken salad sandwich on their delicious homemade bread. I wish they had kettle chips instead of lays chips, but it was such a great sandwich that the chips really don't matter! I can't recommend the almond tea because mine was too sweet, so I recommend getting the peach tea or unsweet instead. I'll be back to try the jalapeño pimento cheese and more chicken salad sandwich! That homemade bread is so yummy, they do sell it by the loaf, so I will be back for fresh bread! They also sell homemade jams and salsa. So excited to have new places to eat close to home! read more

The cutest place ever!! We are here visiting magnolia and looking for a quick place to eat upon arrival before checking into our B&B. This place is super clean, with the nicest people and great food. We tried the almond tea which is a must have for any sweet tea lover. They were super accommodating since I have a gluten allergy & another member of our party is a vegetarian. This place is definitely visited often by the locals and not so much a tourist attraction, but should be! The bread is unbelievable! read more

I absolutely adore this restaurant! EVERYTHING I have ever ordered has been delicious! Their homemade bread is to die for. The homemade pimento cheese is amazing (especially the jalapeño one) ! They have a Reuben sandwich that's great. My favorite thing as of lately is the mandarin orange and feta salad with chicken breast! I don't how they season the chicken breast but every item I've got from the menu that includes it is always amazing. Stopped in for a quick lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. My grilled chicken salad was fresh and the peach tea was delicious. My husband and son's sandwiches looked delicious on extra thick homemade bread. The sweet lady gave my son a complimentary ice cream cone, which was an unexpected gesture. I stumbled upon this diamond in the rough while visiting Waco from the "Windy City"(we all know where the wind comes from) . We were told by a very friendly local to make sure we visit the Cedar Chest in McGregor. So we drove to the Cedar Chest. As we were making our way back to the front of the store we notice this ice cream shoppe. We peeked our heads in because we were both curious and hungry. As we walked in we realized they offer sandwiches, soup, salads and ice cream. We hoped to have the soup but they were sold out. We ordered a club sandwich, which turned out to be the BEST sandwich i have ever had. The homemade wheat berry bread is AMAZINGLY good. If i ever make it back to Waco, i will have lunch there EVERY day. The staff is just more friendly than i can explain.
