It is mowed very wide, for easy access to everyone, and may even accommodate disabled people. This is definitely a good preserve for a simple walk, great for kids and dogs to navigate. Be aware that deer hunting happens on site, and signs are posted alerting visitors. The hunting is restricted to certain areas, not the meadow or obvious visitor spots, but we could hear gunshots, which was scary for my son and dogs. Otherwise, this is a very picturesque and peaceful preserve in southern Chester County. It is extremely clean (litter free) like all Natural Lands preserves. No dog mess anywhere.

There is so much to do for kids--feeding the baby farm animals and the games. I love the market with all of the fresh produce, baked goods and sauces/spices. They also have scheduled seasonal events. I believe they lost their apple crop this year due to weather but it looks like there will still be many fun activities and the market availability starting June 5. I highly recommend a trip to Milburn Orchards.

Anyway, a head clearing hike / walk was necessary the other day and my sister recommended the park as a place that could accommodate that. I have to say, it's a great place. The park is fairy extensive and, you quickly get the feel that you are in a very rural area even though you are in a densely populated college town. It was a gorgeous morning Wednesday when I walked the Pomeroy trail which is about three and a half miles round trip from where I parked my car. There were a few runners out, along with some dog walkers and the occasional deer. Overall it was peaceful and quiet. If you happen to be in the area and need a respite, definitely check this place out!

Much of the collection is displayed by the continent on which the minerals were found. Some of the crystals and gems on exhibit will totally wow you. So stop in for a look if you have a chance!

Most of the specimens are world class, and many were donated by Irénée du Pont, Sr. He started collecting them as a child, and some he purchased through Tiffany. There are donations from others as well. Exhibits include regional minerals, American and Canadian minerals, crystals, minerals from caves, and gems. This is the only museum I have ever visited where I was able to see everything in a few hours, but it really is fascinating.
