Can't stand this damn bridge. Okay it's not all the bridges fault. Rather is more likely to be that of aggressive drivers. Almost every trip here, there's a wreck on the bridge. Slow the hell down, use your turning signals, stop tailgating, and be reasonable. Yes once again another hour plus, due to a few folks crashing again. Best guess is high speed and distracted driving. While I hope they're okay, it kept the Cal Ripken Jr steak of nonsense going. This is actually a really pretty bridge. If you're riding, by all means enjoy the views. Seeing the Susquehanna down below is amazing. You can see in the distance a train bridge, and the lanes should offer your vehicle plenty of room. This isn't the 301 bridge at least. It's been well maintained too. Be at your best, because not everyone is responsible. read more

So, as of right now (Jan 19 2022 and for the last few weeks), there is construction going on at the toll booth complex at the north side of the bridge. During this time, there doesn't seem to be any sensors to collect tolls. So 5 stars right now for free tolls! Can change any day now. read more

Always funny rating bridges, but hey they get my love because it carries me over the water and that's the purpose for it is!! If you are a person that doesn't like bridges...this is not the bridge for you because the sides aren't very high but you are very far from the ground! One plus is it's not a Long bridge though. For me I think it's so beautiful sunup or sundown. They also have some homes one the side of the hills that are beautiful! If you are going up north get ready for a $8 toll or you can get a certain ezpass just for this area. Going back south on this bridge there isn't a toll at all! Great bridge, only thing is he careful of the days when the wind is strong because you will not be able to cross. Enjoy! read more

I bring you good Tydings about this bridge. This is a gorgeous Bridge with spectacular views in both directions, but it is just too damn expensive. I couldn't believe how much I was paying for a bridge which is not close to any urban area. The whole Northeast is one big rip-off when it comes to driving around. A six lane bridge that bangs us North to South (& vice versa) motorists at another toll, for another fee to cross the River Susquehanna. The money that Maryland collects along the I95 corridor must rank numero uno against the other states that do not toll you to death. Built in the late 1950s into the early 1960s, (creepy fact of the day) and dedicated by John F Kennedy eight days prior to his assination. Millard Tydings was a state senator, but I've never been one that's hot for legacy building. Assigning names to tunnels and bridges of someone I'll never know, a personality that I can't guess and legislation I'll probably never read. If anything, hook up the America Indians with a dedication or two, ain't seen that yet. They populated the area, their names are relegated to ponds and rivers. While driving over, I couldn't help but think of what a heavy gust or two of easterly gales would do to the passenger cars looking to reach its opposite end. Im not a morbid man, but it just struck me as moderately unsafe in such a weather condition. read more

Still, it is a smooth drive. Baltimore sits 15 minutes to the southwest, and Wilmington sits 45 minutes to the northeast. Further from that, lies New Jersey and New York. If you're taking an east coast road trip like I did last summer, you make cross this bridge once or twice. Makes for an exciting crossing on windy days as one briefly considers: "Will my vehicle be blown off the bridge?" Okay, to review a bridge is a bit weird, but I saw this, and I thought, why not? Sure, its $8.00 to cross it, and its only for the northbounds, but geez, when you're crossing that bridge on a beautiful day, it's a wondrous view, especially if you're headed north. That's because directly to the right of it (or downstream), you get 3 bridges right away to see it. The first one is the CSX Susquehanna bridge, aka the Perry Bridge, which is a single track bridge carrying freight train traffic along the Philadelphia Subdivison. The next bridge is the Thomas J. Hadem bridge, carrying Route 40 (toll bridge), and last but certainly not least, is the Amtrak Northeast Corridor bridge, which carries high-speed passenger train service to Philadelphia and points north (to Boston), and/or Washington D.C. (and points south). It's truly a great sight. Definitely a hard time to drive when you're passing through, but if nice enough, get off at the first exit and take some pictures, because that image will be ingrained in your memory forever! read more

This place is awesome in any season! If you are looking for entertainment, this may not be your place. If you are looking for a nice calm place to relax, this is your spot. They have book sharing kiosks, an excellent playground, and plenty of benches to look out onto the river. In the summer, there are concerts, bands, food, and events taking place here. Definitely a must see read more

This bridge gets only three stars. Two star deduction for not having a gale flag so we have some warning of how strong the cross winds are and in what direction they blowing. There have been times where I've been pushed by cross winds. Thank goodness it's never caused an accident. I just don't understand the lack of a flag when there are always gale warnings on the digital signs. They could save the electric and just put up a dang flag! On the positive side, I love the hill south of the bridge. For some reason I always pick up speed going up the hill on 95S and feel like I'm flying. It breaks the monotony of the drive back from up north. It's not nearly as exciting northbound going down the hill, IMHO. read more

Didn't even know this bridge had a name until now. Crossed it countless times over the last thirty years on my many Boston/New York/Philadelphia to Washington DC treks. Beautiful, serene landscape around the bridge. Frequent, high winds make for an interesting drive, however. Took me years to figure out why this bridge makes people feel nervous or even scared: it's the lack of any visible structural support around/above the bridge. Only thing keeping you from going off the bridge are concrete rails! read more

This bridge, although much smaller in size and popularity to the George Washington Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge and many other popular bridges, this bridge gets you across a river(Patapasco River) for a moderate price. I used it for it's intended purpose about five years ago, and didn't have much to complain about. They even accept E-Z Pass in all the lanes, so getting through these lines are super-quick! I have crossed this bridge many times over the years and it has always lived up to expectations...always open and giving friendly service, rarely packed...my only complaint is it isn't on the the regular EZ pass and I have to hide my regular one and hold up the special hatem brige one! read more
