She never knew it existed, so we of course had to make an impromptu stop! Like others have mentioned it's free and even if the Aviation Museum is closed you can still visit Jerrasic Park because it's right outside the gates. It's called Jerrasic Park after the owner Jerry (Gerald) Yagen, an aviation pilot. He started aviation schools that are the world's largest trainer of FAA licensed aircraft technicians with schools coast to coast. Those campuses are under the names Centura College and Aviation Institute of Maintenance. He is also the owner/founder of the Aviation Museum, which are his own personal collection of WW I & II planes. The metal dinosaurs were created by the artist Gilbert Ramos. The creato of many popular custom outdoor metal sculptures and garden art in Southern California. He has been creating his unique sculptures since 1997. *It's a small free park with metal sculpture dinosaurs. It's cool to check out and take fun pics with the dinos. If you go online or visit the Aviation Museum, they used to do a scavenger hunt where if you find the items you can take your sheet to the front desk of the Aviation for a little prize. Not sure if they still do that. It worth checking out if you're over in Pungo but I would not make a trip out just for the park. It will easily take you 15 minutes to go through. There is a little area in the trees across the street to park.

It's not really a parking lot, but a small area in the grass. It's in front of the Military Aviation Museum. It doesn't cost anything to enter the dinosaur park, which is great. We got out a there were several different dinosaur displays. We took advantage of this kid friendly freebie and took lots of pics. The grounds weren't really taken care of. So it was grass and weeds growing around some of the displays. Now that it's cold I'm fine, but if it were summer I'd be terrified of seeing a snake, because there are bushes everywhere. So hopefully during warmer seasons they maintain the area a little better. But I still enjoyed it. There's also a pond also, which was nice!! Just a quick fun little adventure!! Check them out!!

I've seen one kid hide under a little cave for about 15m. Besides the broken slide, I'll come when it's less crowded. Maybe early morning or after 6. And no, I'm not referring to sketchy taboo adult activities - because this is a family park! Like basketball? You can totally play here... when the court isn't flooded... so maybe once a week if you're lucky! There's also a killer juvenile obstacle course for all the junior operators in your family unit - and a legit tire swing with a 100% artificial, non-organic tire to lose your lunch on whilst spinning like a nut-job! Think that's all? No way man! There's grass, lots and lots of grass for your dog to sniff and relieve itself on... just be sure to pack everything out in an air-tight container (cause it's the law)! "Yo, is that a Blackhawk hovering over my head?" You might ask yourself that at least once during your visit here - the answer is yes, but shhhhhhh... OPSEC. Come play kids! The meters cost about $2/ hour and the lots vary in price. There is a restroom facility right across the boardwalk from it, which is a plus. This play park is the epitome of accesible parks. It is titled the "Park for Everybody". The amazing park/play area is 15,000 square feet and features wheelchair accessible entrances. It was built in honor of Josh Thompson, an avid beach lover, who lost his battle with ALS. Josh's family wanted to go to the beach, but he stayed behind because of the difficulty of getting his wheelchair to the beach, across the sand and down to the surf. The park is very nice and has a huge jungle gym with a couple of slides, a sculptural of a dolphins, a surfboard, and a wave that children can play on, raised sand tables for sandcastle building at an accessible height, a sensory board for autistic children, Sway Fun glider, and a pebble walk. What I find really cool is that they have fully accessible playground -beach wheelchairs available at no charge, on a first come, first served basis (only during season though). You will also find some cement pads here, with post marking the spots, that are covered with a little sand, making playing in the sand more accessible. Just outside of the park is a nice statue of a man and young boy holding surf boards. The sculpture is on top of a granite base that has the names of donors and the inspiration behind the park inscribed on it. Definitely worth a look. This first of its kind park is a very nice addition to VIrginia Beach's Boardwalk. It is accessible and fun for all kids to play on. They do suggest that it is best for kids aged 5 to 12. I love everything about this park. There should be more of these around.

It's located heading towards then past Cox High school and past the Great Neck Rec center. There are four picnic shelters with the largest one to the far left near the baseball field. The playground is closer to the Great Neck Rec center side. While the walking paths are not extensive, it is still quite rewarding. Don't expect to get some serious walking time in, it's a perfect place for super short walks, or for those with limited endurance or limited mobility if they want to enjoy the peace of nature and a beautiful lake view. At the end of the one path is a large gazebo overlooking the lake. You will see a memorial for the seven sailors who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash/explosion into the Lynnhaven Bay. The gazebo and pavilion are for rent.The bathrooms were very clean. It's a family sized bathroom that is accessible for everyone and has a changing table. With the short walking paths available we extended our walk into the Broad Bay estates for more exercise.

No bathrooms because it is a traditional neighborhood park. The playground looks brand new. Swings for infants and big kid. Slides, seated snail, seated tractor, and seated whale. Lots of climbing area, bridges and walkways on this playground with a few benches to rest as the kids play. It is in full sun so bring the sunscreen. I like driving the car to have a cooler for a few cold drinks for the my nieces and nephew. So far my niece and I have a found 2 parks in Southgate subdivision

It's much larger than I expected and I love the dog park, large green area with the small three children's play areas, paved bike/running trails and the entire area. It's very big and there are several walking/hiking trails inside the main portion of the park spanning several miles and meandering through a wooded area that follows the marsh. It's well-kept and has multiple entrances from the Shadowlawn neighborhoods. -The entrance from VA Ave has a very small parking lot and then street parking. -The entrance from Indian Rd. has a much larger parking lot with plenty of space and opens to the large, green field with 3 separate play areas for toddlers with climbing sculptures in the shape of frogs and caterpillars. Really cute and has a pavilion and circular paved trail around it. -The entrance from Marshview Dr. has a small lot and this is where the dog park area is as well. Two tennis courts here across the street which are part of a small playground/tennis complex called Salt Marsh Park. Last weekend I finally went for a hike inside and covered about 1/3rd of the likable/walkable space. It's gorgeous! It's also neat bc they have it set up for trail bike riding and it's very well marked and laid-out. I came upon some beautiful areas for sitting and enjoying the view. If you haven't ventured here yet you should give it a try - actually pretty impressive in size and option for a neighborhood co-located park.

Lots of dogs at this park. I LOVE dogs.2 Different playgrounds. The playground area was my favorite. There were no kids so we explored the playground. Huge size. It was awesome. So their playgrounds are spread out. They have one at the area where you park your vehicle. You walk or ride your bike a ways turn right into another area . Nice size grass area to run and play and then 3 sections of little whimsical play areas. Frog area, Caterpillar area, and turtle area. Really nice paved walk ways with these beautiful little bridges. Dog park, People and Pet friendly. Wheel chair and stroller friendly. Great for bikes. They even have a station for bike repair and to pump up your tires. EXCELLENT for us we love riding our bikes. Smaller parking lot but there is far more parking in the back area by the golf course. It's famous for the two weekends a year in spring during the Cherry Blossom Festival hosted here. Alas, the lines to pull in are SO long, I have avoided it and never seen it in action - though, it's on the bucket list for some day. It's cute and small, and worth a visit if you're in the area, but it's nothing to make a trip across town solely for under normal circumstances.

Looking for a quaint beach park to take your little ones, then look no further than Old Beach Park…read more The location is in a neighborhood, but easy to find one you locate Beach Middle School as it is just one block away. Do not expect a parking lot... all cars will need to park off the street. Old Beach Park is a medium size playground setting on a bed of mulch that has been recently upgraded. Recommended for the kids 10&U. This place is sure to be a hit as it was my my children today. My kids loved the sea saw which you don't find anymore. No restroom facilities are present, so no surprises when you arrive and have to hear the annoying "I have to go to the bathroom" A small shelter is present along with a lot of room for the kids to run around. Many tall pines are on the grounds adding to the ambiance of the park. There is also tennis courts present, but I am sure if this is a park, or middle school facility. Yes it's a small park, but safe and perfect for the little ones to have a blast. I can easily see this as a great location to hold a kids party. Bring a picnic on a visit, the kids will have a ball.
