There are poop bags located at the front entrance of the park but also a station towards the back. I've never noticed them empty so that's a plus. There are two covered shelters with picnic tables and plenty of trash cans throughout the park. There are bathrooms as well but I've never been inside. There is a children's play area/climbing structure and I often see families playing there. There are about 30 parking spots but plan accordingly because this park is located near Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater so this area gets backed up when there is a concert/event. Only taking off a star in my review due to stories I've heard from family/friends who say that there are stalker/creeps occasionally here. When the police have been called for an assault attack a few years ago they said that these complaints happened fairly often... not sure how it is now in 2022 so definitely stay aware and have some sort of protection on you and bring a buddy if possible!

There's a paved sidewalk that's wide enough for walkers, joggers and bikers. It doesn't offer much in the way of scenery, but we like the playground, which is in good repair and has several slides and swings as well as climbing areas and some cool hands-on puzzles for kids. It's been a nice spot for us during the pandemic, as it's never too crowded. We like to venture over after a stroll around the farmers market across the street.

This location is on the Virginia Beach/Norfolk line. This is a neighborhood park maintained by the city of Virginia Beach. It's behind the Farm Fresh grocery strip mall at the corner of Diamond Springs Rd. and Wesleyan Dr. I am surprised that I never saw it before, but you can see it even though it's back a ways. Parking is off the street and plenty of it for a neighborhood park. Hours are sun up to sun down. The area is safe for children to play and recreate. The playground is nothing special at all. It's a very basic park with almost no amenities. The equipment is in good condition, I saw no graffiti on any surface. There are four pieces of equipment. The central playground, two sets of swings that include toddler swings and a climbing piece. There are two benches within the playground. The mulch appears fresh and no debris has been present. There is also a small shelter with a picnic table. However, there is no BBQ grill which you will usually find. I have been there on several occasions with debris present in the shelter area. A trash can is present by the shelter was had been recently emptied. There are no restrooms which is customary at these type of small local parks like this. This is NOT a Virginia Beach sanctioned dog park. There is no station for picking up dog litter at the park.The field behind the playground is humongous and not fenced. By far this green space is the best thing Cypress Point has going for it. The grass is not out of control, but on my last visit it was overdue for a mow. Bottom line, the park is extremely functional as a park and the green space makes it useful for both kids and dogs. I find the park convenient for me since I reside close and find myself at VWC several times a week. I am a 2.5, round to a 3.

It was so nice to go down memory lane and bring my kids back to their first park ever, from the time they were born to when we left! They don't remember it of course, but I do! When we were stationed here the first time around, we lived in Brigadoon and this was our go-to park. I remember pushing them on the baby swings, hearing them giggle as they went down the slides and also being absolutely terrified as a first time mom that they would fall off one of the open ledges with their wobbly little legs. The park has been well maintained 6 years later and they've made an addition, a skate boarding ramp. The park also features a playground structure with ramp, baby swings, regular swings, a basketball court, a grassy field, benches facing every play area and a picnic table with a shelter equipped with a trash can. This is where our little group enjoyed our delicious lunch from Glory's. The kids had a great time playing before and after our meal. There's also ample parking. There is a swing set for infants and another for bigger kids. There are several climbing sets as well as a great climbing rope/tarp unit that has a rather large slide at the top. So great for the toddler/bigger kids to not get bored with. There's also a smaller playground set for little toddlers with a cool roller slide. In case that's not what you're looking for, there's a small skate area that I think would be fun for beginners. Lots of grassy area in case you bring a pup or the kids want to run around for a game of tag. Just down the path, there's a basketball court that looks almost new. Park is not covered so depending on time of day, the sun beats down intensely. Picnic tables are accessible, drinking fountain is also available as well as a spot to refill your water bottle. They have a small area to exercise on the metal bars provided. Two porta potties on site. The side trail is somewhat overgrown now covering some of the path, luckily there are plenty of branches that can be used as a walking stick to move the overgrown shrubs out of the way.

I toured the park on an early evening during the week. I am looking to host an event here soon and figured I'd check it out first before reserving. One must contact Parks & Rec to reserve the shelters located here. There is a huge shelter towards the back of the park that looks to be perfect for a party size of 100 or less. The park is beautiful. There is a body of water in which one can sit or stand and enjoy the views. Super quiet and I love it. There is also an area in which one can exercise by following the posted exercises in a sand pit. I love this feature! There is a playground for the younger and older children. Swings are even featured here! I love the swings :) This park isn't super huge but I think it's a great size and you are lucky if you are the only one renting a shelter... it's small enough to feature an intimate setting... like a private party but you only rented one shelter. Parking seems decent. I think 20 cars can fit into the parking lot without worry but if more start to show up, this could be a problem. I am not sure if overflow parking is nearby. There is a narrow street leading to the park so one may be able to park on one side of the street... if not...not sure what the back up plan is. I'd say there are plenty of trees at this park so shaded areas are definitely present. At least one grill is located near each of the three shelters. I'd recommend you visit this hidden jewel in Chesapeake. I'm looking forward to returning soon. Have fun and enjoy life :)

However, after going around the back when visiting the Great Neck Library I made a discovery... the front of the park. The entrance to Lynnhaven Park is off Old Donation Parkway, then a turn on Bayne Dr. It is a little tricky. The park is across the street from the fire station and library. There is parking at this location. By far the biggest reason my review jumps up to three stars is the availability of joint public/school tennis courts. Eight courts that can be lite at night, they are super nice. Nearby Lynnhaven Middle School also uses them and I imagine has priority when the need. There is league play at this location and a schedule is posted. Other than that this is open for anyone to use. Also there is a ball field that appears to be solely public and has an awesome infield. Outfield could use work as it is ridden with crab grass and patchy. It is also a lite field for night time play. Lynnhaven MS has there own ball field beside this one to utilize. A newer playground and swings sets on a bed of mulch was a welcome find too. There are four small shelters around it with a picnic table. There is no field for recreation in this area. A building behind the tennis courts houses the restrooms. However, they are out of order and locked up which I have a problem with. The water fountain is also out of order. This needs to be rectified and put back online for the park. At this point a port a pot is being used. It is located right outside the tennis court entrance. I have never seen one VB park that utilizes a port a potty as its sole means for visitors to utilize. The crowning jewel of this park are the tennis courts, they are that nice. But without restrooms and a very aging basketball court detached from the rest of the park I cannot justify moving it up further. Check this park out, it's right under your nose off of First Court.

CPP is located close to John F. Kennedy Middle School but tucked away off Hollywood Avenue. The only public pool in Suffolk was opened in 2011 by Parks and Recreation. According to the city's website, CPP has 30.6-acres, which is quite large for a neighborhood park. I'm thinking part of it must be included in the walking trail that goes into the woods. *Basketball court *Horseshoe pits *2 Picnic Shelters *Grills *Walking Trail *Playground *Lots of open, grassy fields *Restrooms *Outdoor Swimming Pool *Swim lessons *Party rentals (call for more info: 514-7250) When I arrived at CPP around 10 a.m. on a weekday, there was not one person there. And no, I'm not referring to sketchy taboo adult activities - because this is a family park! Like basketball? You can totally play here... when the court isn't flooded... so maybe once a week if you're lucky! There's also a killer juvenile obstacle course for all the junior operators in your family unit - and a legit tire swing with a 100% artificial, non-organic tire to lose your lunch on whilst spinning like a nut-job! Think that's all? No way man! There's grass, lots and lots of grass for your dog to sniff and relieve itself on... just be sure to pack everything out in an air-tight container (cause it's the law)! "Yo, is that a Blackhawk hovering over my head?" You might ask yourself that at least once during your visit here - the answer is yes, but shhhhhhh... OPSEC. Come play kids! PS, only 4 stars for the constant flooding and low level of city maintenance. But it's the safest park in the city!
