Chips tasted like they were made with old oil. Waited 45 minutes for food. Tables of 4 had food coming out to the people at all different times. Refilling soda glasses from pitchers of soda that was flat. Most everyone was complaining. Sad. The restaurant used to be really good. read more

We were told 20 min wait to get table. Then we ordered food and waited another hour. When we asked how much longer, they told us another 30 minutes or more. It was cold in the restaurant. I love Eggs Benedict and have had it in 100's of restaurants. So when I found this place for breakfast, I was excited to see they offered it. I have no hesitation in saying, this might be the best Eggs Benedict I have had. The hollandaise sauce was the perfect balance between acid and creamy. The eggs were poached perfectly and had the right amount of ham. On my first visit I had the optional onions and peppers with my home fries. I didn't care for them. Not sure what kind of seasoning they used, but it wasn't for me. On my second visit, I had the without the onions and peppers, which were much better. One thing that I couldn't believe was the price. $8.50 for Eggs Benedict and hone fries is almost unbelievable. Most restaurants charge $12.00 or more, so great value. Here are the two negatives: 1. The kitchen is very slow. On both visits I waited more that a half hour. Other dinners were also waiting a long time. It isn't a big issue for me being retired, but for someone heading to work, it could be an issue. Second issue is the restaurant looks very tired and worn out. It really needs to be remodeled, but then the $8.50 Eggs Benedict will go up to over $12.00. All in all, not a bad place to eat. read more

We went for a Sunday breakfast after reading a little of the history. The building is almost 150 years old and used to be a farmers market. So the food was good when it finally arrived. We sat for nearly a half hour while nursing our coffee. Surprising because when we arrived there was only a few table. I would have been ok if the places was packed. Nice that we got a carafe of coffee so we didn't have to keep asking for refills while waiting. The menu is pretty extensive and prices are quite reasonable. The dinner I ordered was very good, and included a salad or soup, as well as a choice of side dish. The problem was service was so slow. Wait times were awful, came in at 945 am and was not served until 11:15, the horrible wait time could not even be overlooked by service because our service is likely the worst service I've ever had in my life. Our waitress didn't check on us during our incredibly long wait, we were all out of drinks and when our food did come (food was great)... we finished our meals with still NO DRINKS. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I used to enjoy this establishment but I can tell you I will never be back. We usually get Kristi as a server and she always knows what we usually order . She is very efficient and serves everyone as they come in order and still checks on the ones who have been there before to make sure everyone is well taken care of. The food is really great and usually not too salty which is fantastic because I am on a low sodium diet. The restaurant is always clean and beautiful. A great place to eat. Sometimes we get Jen and she does a great job as well they both know what we like and they both also suggest other things to us. Love them both. read more

Visited Lock Haven this past weekend, and had previously read Scyler's review, which was spot on. Fox's is a family restaurant that has good food at decent prices, located in the Historic Market House. All of their sandwiches come with kettle chips and a pickle spear. We tried: The Locks (grilled chicken, provolone, dijon honey in a pita 6.25), Church Street Chicken (grilled chicken on a croissant with sliced apples & bleu cheese dressing 6.25) also the Haddock Sand (4.75) and Piper Cheesesteak (6.00) Service was okay, they accept cash, visa or MC. Our waitress got our drinks & soup quickly, and it took about 10-15 minutes for all our food to be served. This restaurant is always hit or miss. Sometimes it is decent and other times it makes you question your life choices. Orders are usually taken promptly but the wait time is ridiculously long . The food is usually good. However the AYCE fish Friday is a complete sham. You wait forever for two puny pieces of fish. I swear they get smaller each time I go. Then when you want more you are met with disappointment. Wait time for a refill can be from 10-20 minutes. Then they dump a single puny piece on your plate. If I couldn't give them a star I'd be happy. Once in July my family got turned away... cuz the workers just didn't want to work. Tonight our family once again got turned away. We are a family of 7 now due to a birth of a child and family visiting. The workers could care less. They wouldn't give us 2 tables side by side. They also wouldn't try to push the tables they had available together. They just said they couldn't fit us, when they had available space. Fox's was suggested by a few colleagues at our hotel, so we gave it a go. Although we agree with some previous feedback that the wait time is prolonged after ordering, the food was good, and came in generous proportions. Shoutout to the pork prime rib and soups (take your pick, they're all tasty). Wait staff is friendly, though they easily get overwhelmed when the restaurant is more than half full (which, to be honest, it rarely is). What keeps this at a 3 instead of a 4 is the horrible wait times. The restaurant never has much patronage, so I can only imagine they stay in the black by employing a single chef. I can't recall a single visit to Fox's that didn't make at least one member of the party late to whatever they needed to do next. If time isn't a concern, give it a try. Otherwise, and on the whole in the lock haven area, there are better options. read more

We went for breakfast. Restaurant was pleasant and clean. Breakfast menu had many choices, reasonable prices. Server was prompt and friendly and able to make suggestions. We ordered a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with bacon; eggs Benedict with hash browns; coffee for two. The coffee was fresh ground and served in a large insulated carafe with two large cups, very good coffee. The pancakes were crispy, light and very fluffy. The bacon was very crisp and tasty. Delightfully yummy. The eggs Benedict was the best I have had in many years, eggs poached perfectly with runny yolks, well toasted English muffin, a great mix of textures and flavor with the Hollandaise sauce and Canadian Bacon. Fox Market House is a sit down restaurant in Downtown Lock Haven right by the on ramp to 220. It has been around for many years and has a variety of good food for a good price. The wait staff is very friendly and the restaurant sports a friendly family vibe. It usually gets fairly busy on Sundays as it is a popular place for people going to church nearby. My fiance and I ate here again yesterday after I had seen a letter to the editor saying that they basically ignore you. When we went in to the restaurant we were seated right away. Not like the letter to the editor where they stated they were not even shown a seat and had to seat themselves after 40 minutes. The waitress was very attentive to us refilling our drinks several times and even bringing a carafe' to keep at our table. The letter stated that they sat there for over 30 minutes and were not served at all. The food was hot and good My fiance had a club and I had a chicken cheesesteak minus the cheese. (each order came with kettle chips and a pickle wedge) and we had ordered beer battered fries as well. The total bill only came to $18.00 and some change for both of us. You can also get the breakfast lunch and dinner menu served to you at anytime. I found it nothing like the letter to the editor stated and in fact have decided to make it more of a regular stop when we eat out instead of some of the other places we go to. read more

I ordered a cheesesteak for lunch and asked how thin the steak was cut and generally if the waitress thought it was good. She had no idea, just said, "its a cheesesteak." I ordered a beer that was on the menu, but was told they didn't have it and they only had 4 different beers. My cheesesteak came. It tasted good, but it was on a roll not much bigger than a hotdog roll. So it was gone in a few bites. The cost $6.75- can you say rip-off!! The waitress come with my bill and I put my card down, she said I have to take it up front. What is this? This place is dead (no wonder) and you can cash me out? I won't be coming back here. If you are ever in Lock Haven, you have to take the time to eat a Fox's. I love the family setting, the wonderful staff that is extremely friendly and since I work in the area, most of them know me by name. The food is great and you get more for your money than most places which is great for the wallet. My personal favorites are the Church Street Chicken Sandwich (grilled chicken breast and granny apple slices on a crescent roll) and the Mandarin Chicken Salad (Salad made with grilled chicken chunks, mandarin oranges, almonds, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, dressing, etc... in a crisp shell)... ooohhhh that just hits the spot. Expect your food to take 45 minutes to be served even if it's just a deli sandwich. My friend ordered a simple omelet towards the end of of our meal to go since he didn't like his pancakes since they were over cooked. And after waiting for 50 minutes and continually asking where his order was, he asked for a refund, which the cashier at the front said the manager would be out. Another ten minutes went by and the manager never showed up. We ended up just leaving. The facility is clean, and has good off street parking. But I would not recommend going here. read more

It makes me sad eating here because I always say "maybe they will impress me this time" but unfortunately never do. The food is good don't get me wrong, it is.... BUT if you plan on getting your food within an hour of ordering prepare to be disapointed. I have now eaten here about 5 times, twice by my choice, three times meeting family or friends and this was the place they picked. No matter the number of wait staff, or the time of the day, no matter the number of customers or the lack their of you will wait atleast an hour for your meal. Salad or steak it doesn't matter.
