This artisan gelato is some of the best I've had locally, and their rotating and seasonal flavor offerings are nothing short of creative and delicious. Some of the flavors have included: peanut butter, espresso, salted caramel, panna cotta, tiramisu, dark chocolate, mint, cookie butter, blood orange sorbetto, stracciatella, strawberry sorbetto, limoncello, dulce de leche, Madagascar vanilla, and many more! The Horrocks employees serving the gelato are consistently friendly and helpful and small samples are available if you're having trouble committing to your flavor picks. They have several sizes available, but I often go for the small ($3.50), happily choosing 2 flavors and the portions are consistently very generous. I'd highly recommend a trip to Horrock's to try this fantastic gelato, and if you've been there before, certainly return to try new-to-you flavors. Iorio's is indeed the real deal!

I've had many chocolate milkshakes, and they have been fine. The dark chocolate milkshake at Love's tastes like actual chocolate, though, and it is supremely satisfying. It almost makes me forget that I don't like ice cream! Love's has lots of other ice cream and gelato offerings, including vegan ice cream, plus chocolates and peanut brittle and things like that. This is a black-owned Chicago-based biz, and Palazzolo's manufactures their product. There are three flavors of this southern-style frozen pudding: banana, strawberry, and pineapple. Naturally, I had to try banana. One bite in, and I was hooked. It's super creamy and flavorful. Dare I say that I enjoy Lorenzo's over Palazzolo's?! I'm giving 5 stars for Lorenzo's Frozen Pudding and 4 stars for Palazzolo's frozen confections. I'd pick the frozen pudding over gelato any day!

After taking the time, I really regret having not gone sooner. They have several flavors of sorbet & gelato, fruity or chocolatey. Anything from Strawberry Hibiscus to classic chocolate. The lady who runs the stop is very friendly and can also give samples from their cups! She explained that their gelato is hand made, and even the blueberries in it were fresh and hand-picked (She even warned me that there there is a chance a bit of stem might be stuck to a blueberry, but mine was perfect as the way it was). I tried the Blueberry-Lemon Green-tea Gelato. The lemon gelato was pleasantly sweet, creamy, and refreshing. The delicate touch of green-tea added depth and harmony between the sweet and tart lemon and flavorful blueberries. The flavors seem very strategically balanced while using a blend of the unique mixed with the familiar. In summary, it was delicious. The prices were also incredibly fair, and each order is about the size of 1 cup (although I think it's a better deal if you get 2 cups), but especially when out at a hot summer's day event, a small cup of gelato is the perfect accompaniment to go with a meal from a foodtruck. In addition, when I tried tipping the lady - she refused and returned my money with a short expression of their business's creed to their customers! Even though it was a small gelato place from a truck, I was truly impressed by everything this little business embodied from their commitment to fresh ingredients, the friendly service, and even the undying dedication to the craft. It is tight with that many people. However, many of the treats are pre-packaged so they cycled people through quickly. I like their concept. They have a huge variety of ice cream sandwiches with fun names and themes. The gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options are limited, but there are a few. They also have ice cream bars, cakesicles, brownie pops, ice cream, sorbet, and Italian water ice. OH, and boba! The different flavors are named after classic video games (Contra, Q*Bert, Crash Bandicoot...) I'm looking forward to going back for some boba! I had the tropical sorbet. It's really refreshing and flavorful. The lil kid size was plenty for me after dinner. I also finished my aunt's peach water ice. It was sweeter than mine, and also refreshing! Both of these were dairy free. With the ice cream competition in Rockford I really hope UCC does well. They have more variety and a wider option of flavor profiles than most.
