Reasons I chose Delco: - Owner's "can-do" attitude. Very positive. These are multi-week projects. It's important that I enjoy working with someone on a daily basis for that length of time. - Owner is consistently on-site. - Overall value was substantially higher than others. - Ability to use my own designer (Cary Gerschutz of DeLuca Designs...highly recommend). - Referred by trusted individual. Reasons I recommend Delco now that the project has been completed: - Communication: Owner proactively provides regular updates on project without it being overwhelming. - Proposed budget was in line with final cost. - Attention to detail: Example: Our designer marveled at the final product of the "pebble floor" in our shower. Each stone was placed by hand; it did not look "manufactured". - Any unknowns (you don't know what's behind the wall until you open it) were disclosed up front with worst-case scenarios clearly outlined, with an under-promise-over-deliver mindset. - Very respectful of our home: Stairs and walls were protected prior to starting. Items were carried carefully. Accidents can happen but we were fortunate that we experienced not one bit of collateral damage. - Respectful of our family: They used earbuds instead of a stereo. No yelling or unnecessary noise. Got to know our dog and were happy to close the door each and every time they made a trip from the outside of the house to the inside of the house. Even in communication: If I wanted to talk through some things, he wasn't rushing me. And likewise, if I was busy, he was respectful of that and kept things brief. - Cleaned up every single day. - Any snags were met with a positive attitude. No blaming of others; great accountability. - Vast majority of work done by Delco; very few subcontractors. - Project was completed within the "worst-case scenario" timeframe and, had it not been for subcontractor delays, it would have been done sooner than that. All of Delco's work was done in a timely manner. - Flexible with mid-project adjustments. Conclusion: A project like this is a big financial and time investment. I really enjoyed working with Delco. I've already referred friends to them. The end product was better than expected. Finally, my designer, after the project was completed, told me that, if I used a typical home remodeling company, I would have paid significantly more for a lesser product. Move Yourself, if able…read more.. Inaccurate "estimations". I was quoted for a 2-4 person crew to move a 2 bedroom apartment to a house at $150/ hour plus truck fees and mileage . The move was estimated to take 2 hours and a total of $475. I accounted/expected for double the moving time. Apparently this information is completely false. 2 movers arrived, the job took them 9 hours to complete and of course I was charged in excess of $2000 when the truck charge is included. When I called to dispute the charges. I was told they have no idea how many movers would be needed...is that not what the quote process was? You were informed it was a 2 BR apartment needing moved, you're a moving company, plan accordingly for the job and send the correct crew. When I broached this topic I was told a crew of 4 would have cost $300/hour, I again called back on my quote which did not include this information. At the end of the day, This is nothing but a scam. Do not entrust these people with your move. It's a classic scheme of moving slow to increase billable hours. Don't respond to them if they inquire about moving your things. The crew themselves were complicit, taking their time moving and making multiple trips to achieve the compete move. Sloppy with boxes and disregarding property. Chipped paint on an interior wall moving a sofa thru the hallway. Terrible service overall. Would never recommend. Follow-Up: I paid and tipped you for services rendered, it was a long hot day and I was raised to treat people the right way, which is why we offered you refreshments and food throughout the day. I am a man of my word and I pay for services that are performed. My issue remains that the quote/estimate were incorrect. I was quoted for 2 hours for a team of 2-4 movers @ $150 an hour. What came was the minimum of 2 and then you guys took take 5X the time with multiple trips needed back and forth (in theory the move should have taken no longer than double what was proposed/estimated). The pertinent information about the move was provided by my end. You quoted an estimate using those details, it's on your internal processing to determine the crew size/truck size/time estimate. My purchasing decision was based on that quote/estimated price. On the quote there was no mention of any upcharges for additional crew, there in lies another issue. You've been paid, I understand the charges, you need to understand my issue with your company and that process. The additional charges dropped were for "Step-Charges", you used no steps, only the elevator and a hallway. My total was still $1700, which is 3.5X what I was quoted. I reiterate, do not trust your move to this company, they are predatory and will only upcharge you and move extremely slow/tell you they need multiple trips to achieve a straight forward move.
