Good: Everyone is nice, and everyone is good at their jobs. They have the best selection of high end frames in the area (which means they do NOT have the best selection to affordable anything). The lenses are soooo much more durable and higher quality in general. Do NOT think that buying glasses off Warby Parker is going to give you the same experience. It won't. Bad: they don't make the glasses in-house, so sometimes they can take a while to receive. 2020-2022 were particularly bad for supply chain issues, so reviews you read during this time period are reflective of that delay. It also took longer to get an appointment during this time. They cater to luxury over affordability, which is great for me, but means that sometimes I get my prescription from them and order glasses and lenses online (although I inevitably regret this choice every time because the quality is so much worse). This place is the epitome of you get what you pay for.

Visionworks front desk staff, an old and rude woman with bleached hair, gave me a pair of eyeglasses with a badly BENT frame. Also the prescription was OFF and I can NOT focus my eyesight with this pair of bent eyeglasses. This Visionworks staff then sent me out of the North Utica Visionworks store without giving me a chance to have the POORLY made eyeglasses checked by its store vision care staff. I RETURNED the poorly made eyeglasses back to Visionworks. My vision insurance was charged $575 by Visionworks and I left Visionworks that day WITHOUT eyeglasses. An official and exhausting complain process was filed. That very rude Visionworks old lady staff still works at the North Utica front desk.

Of course I wasn't getting the glasses so she said ok I'll put your card insurance on hold, I said I'm not coming back and she put it on hold anyway. So I go to Walmart to get glasses and they said I was unable to get glasses because vision works put my insurance on hold. Long story short, I had to wait to call this morning and have them remove that hold on my insurance card. Finally I was able to get glasses from Walmart with no extra charge and I have money left over to sunglasses. Bad business visionworks. Great business Walmart. P.s. this is the visionworks in North Utica in Utica ny. Best place to go to is Walmart on commercial drive in New Hartford ny.

Definitely not right for me. Front of the store wasn't too bad, but one very sassy boi was very rude and dismissive. When I went back to get my glasses refitted it took a very long time to get anyone to help me. If you're not spending money at the time of your visit, they don't seem to want you around, regardless if it's part of the services offered.

I had never had anyone ask me the 20/100 letters and I've been getting my eyes done for 20 years. Again all of this is fine and I just go along. She said I was all done and I simply got up and was going to say thank you on the way out, but the second I got up I got another snarky ( you're welcome) I didn't even stand up fully at this point and was kind of shocked. People are allowed to have bad days but customers who are kind and respectful shouldn't be spoken to this way. I just walked out from what I thought was going to be an appointment, but they informed me that I had cancelled a week earlier. I had not. 2. My son's contacts came in with two right eyes when they were ordered. 3. My daughter's glasses, they tried to get us to pay twice. I also don't recommend the AI eye exam appointment, it took us approximately 4 hours to complete. On top of that there are a couple of front end people that could use a lesson in customer service.

Insurance only covers in person exams. Web site made no distinction. Desk clerk them told ne my insurance doesn't cover glasses which I know for a fact it does. The whole exchange reeked of Gen Z non-involvement and apathy. Won't be going back.
