Even if you aren't an avid theatergoer, this one is definitely a place you'll enjoy. If you have seen any of my other reviews, you'll know that I try to hit up all the artsy spots and maybe even those less known. You may not be familiar with the playhouse, but in true fashion, this "playhouse" puts on a variety of plays and musicals throughout the year. This community theater has a very modern stage, lighting, and the actors do an amazing job. We have seen several shows at this venue. All were excellent! I believe the actors are all volunteers, and you can tell how many hours go into each production. Ticket prices are reasonable. The facility is clean, and all of the theater staff are friendly and welcoming. Great entertainment! Highly recommend! read more

I came here for the first time to watch their production of Titanic. It was a very good production overall. Parking was a bit tough given the matinee show and the location of the theater with all of the trucks towing boats and whatnot. The theater itself is quite dated, but very neat and tidy. The lobby area is enormous and during intermission they offer snacks and drinks. The worst part about this playhouse is the bathrooms... there are 3 stalls for women... trying to go to the bathroom during intermission with half of the audience waiting on 3 stalls is challenging. One of the best community theatres in Tampa Bay. Loved working with them as an actor and seeing shows as a spectator. They are always top notch and a great value. I will echo what others said, there isn't a bad seat in the venue...and add that you should get your tickets to shows quickly, as they consisently sell-out the theatre with a capacity of just under 200 seats. read more

I saw "Leading Ladies" yesterday at Francis Wilson. This Playhouse consistenly offers the very best performances for your money. For $20 I got to see a 2 hour comedy with over 10 performers. The stage production and directing must be top shelf because I always enjoy the show. Performed in a real, intimate theater, (not a make shift dinner theater) there a no bad seats. Sound and lighting systems are excellent. Highly recommend this Playhouse. read more

After living in Clearwater for over 30 years, I finally "discovered" a gem of a playhouse close to our beautiful waterfront. This is Community Theater at its best. The actors are perfectly selected for their parts, and they act for love of their art since their paycheck is our applause! This season of Broadway plays and musicals has been superb. In addition, they have offered 4 concerts of Broadway music, MC'd by a veritable Robert Osborne of Clearwater, Jason Fortner, director, whose singing talents and encyclopedic knowledge of stage and music history enhance the experience. Performances in the 89th season continue til mid-May. A spectacular 90th season is scheduled to begin in August. If you have never been to FWP, to owe it to yourself to give it a try. My husband and I will be season ticket holders this time around!! read more

Hubby and I are theatre people. We love it. We are season ticket holders at the Straz Center, but are still drawn to other theatres around the Bay area. When I saw that Pippin would be playing we decided to give it a go. We've been to many community theatres, with a bag of mixed reviews. Well, this place did not disappoint! The theatre is lovely, small, comfortable and very clean. It appears that every seat would be a good one. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. We loved the production of Pippin. Very, very professional for community theatre. As in most community theatres, the cast makes an appearance in the lobby during the intermission and after the show. They were just the nicest bunch of professionals and it was a pleasure speaking with some of them. We were so impressed that we purchased tickets for the 2013-14 season before we left.
