Was here for a movie sponsored (?) by the Florida Holocaust Museum, and apparently part of a Jewish Film Festival ( thank you for showing this impactful film, Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire). This theater is absolutely beautiful. About 100 years old, according to the one employee I asked, the details are incredible, the seats comfortable, the upcoming movies look great...Unfortunately did not have an opportunity to go to the balcony but I was told that's a must do! Downstairs bathrooms/ architecture follows suit. There is a large bar/ concession area, but I did not utilize this amenity. Get there early for parking, just in case ( a few private pay by app lots....). I am unfamiliar with the area, so there possibly are other options.

In the 19 years living in Tampa, I finally attended a show at the Tampa Theatre. The theatre will be 100 years old next year (established 1926). It's well maintained inside and the stage is very beautiful....very reminiscent of The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas. The bathrooms appear outdated and honestly I couldn't really critique because the lines were so long and the bathroom entrance was narrow. Like a typical theater, they had basic snacks such as candy and popcorn as well as beer and wine. Glad Josh Johnson got me to visit the theater.

I adore the Tampa theatre. If you haven't been you absolutely have to go. The staff are all phenomenal and so passionate about the events, films and movie offerings they have. Their main theatre is so beautiful and has great live events, comedy shows etc. It is beautiful and spacious but feels so cozy and special. They also offer tours of the historic theatre. It's a nonprofit and truly offering such unique experiences.

The Tampa Theater is easily one of the best venues in the area. I attended the Morgan Jay comedy show this weekend. The seats are spacious and the staff is so friendly. I would include a picture of the interior of the theater but it's better to look up and be surprised. Such a great spot to catch a show!

I came here for a field trip with my daughters class. They did a great job of filling a whole theater of elementary age kids. The theater was clean and the staff was nice and helpful. It was very pretty inside and they put on a great show.

It was Pride and prejudice 20th anniversary and I was so happy they were having an event. Parking was a bit confusing but once we figured it out, the pricing was too bad it was $10 for 3 hrs and the walk was just a block away. Once we arrived they had a flower stand outside to buy from they were so pretty and they were also selling the new edition Jane Austen books. They also had a trivia contest online that you could join before the movie started and the prize was a gift basket. I loved that they also had "leave a book pick one up" for readers and also a station to create your own bookmark. The station had letters to choose from and different flowers and stamps to personalize. We sat in the middle back and had our popcorn and m&ms in hand ready to watch the movie. It was almost a full house. Next time I'll go upstairs and sit above to enjoy more of the view. Overall it was a great experience, lots of laughs and cheering from the crowd it made it so much more special to know it's still a classic story.

i drove two hours just to come here and it was so worth it!! the most beautiful theatre i've ever been to. the staff were very sweet, and the whole place is incredible, well taken care of, and clean. i came to see guillermo del toro's frankenstein on the big screen and it was such an amazing experience. definitely will be returning!

This is a historic movie house that is almost 100 years old. Built in 1926 in the heyday of grand movie houses, this place has been restored to It's original design. This is a designated historic place and is owned by the city of Tampa and run as a nonprofit. It is a fully functioning theater open 365 days. They play all kinds of movies, old and new. There are live events and concerts. You can rent the place out for weddings and corporate events. Who knew? We recently took a guided tour of this theater and learned so much. I highly suggest doing this 1.5 hr tour. At the end of the tour they play some music on their historic pipe organ. We also went to a live showing of Ancient Aliens from the tv series. There is street parking and also parking lots and garages in the area

First time at this theatre, we came for the Morgan Jay show. The process and amenities inside are very similar to the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville. This theatre is gorgeous inside and out! We sat towards the back of the floor and it was a great view. Very clean inside and nice restrooms. Parking nearby wasn't bad and we felt safe walking to our car afterward.

Your view from upstairs... it's like you're sitting outside for the performance!

I've lived in Tampa almost my whole life and this was the first time I ever set foot in the Tampa theatre... my life was changed with a theatre experience like this! It takes you back in time when you walk in! They keep it in amazing shape, and while I'm sure some of the pieces of decor are not completely original, they've sure fooled me! Just imagine watching a performance (a movie in my case) under a faux night sky, much like you are out in a Romanesque cathedral - statues and stone pillars. It's just an amazing feeling being in there! Simply gorgeous! I will be back!

    Where is parking?

Street parking is available, and when you know your parking space number, you pay at the metered parking terminal or online. There are a couple of privately owned parking lots nearby, if you can't find a spot on the street.

It had been many years since our last visit to CineBistro. We liked it back then, but somehow never…read moremade it back, and between the pandemic, movie prices, and life in general, it just fell off our radar. Fast forward to now: my wife wanted to see the new movie Disclosure Day, which we both enjoyed, and she decided it would be the perfect excuse for a dinner-and-movie night. So we headed back to CineBistro. I'd recommend arriving about 30 minutes before the movie starts so they have time to take your order and you can hopefully finish eating before the film begins. Prices are on the mid-to-high side, and they do add an 18% gratuity to the bill. That said, you can adjust it if you want to tip more, less, or remove it entirely. For dinner, my wife had the Shrimp Florentine Linguini, it came with sautéed Gulf shrimp, fresh linguini, roasted garlic cream sauce, spinach, marinated tomatoes, Parmigiano Reggiano, and wild mushrooms. I had the CMX Burger, which is two Angus Beef Patties, White American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Pickles, Special Sauce on Potato Roll. The burger also comes with fries. Soft drinks and bottled water are $7, which felt a little steep to me, although soft drinks do come with free refills. You can also just ask for a glass of water. The seats are very comfortable, with small tray tables or fold-out tables so you can eat right at your seat while watching the movie. Food is delivered directly to you, which makes the whole experience convenient and enjoyable. Overall, we were very happy with the food. It was tasty, and we have no complaints there. You really do get what you pay for, and this is a different kind of movie-going experience with good food to go along with it. If the movie is good too, it makes for a great night out. We would definitely come back.

I had the espresso martini, even though it wasn't on the cocktail menu. It was very good. We ordered the steak skewer salad, popcorn, peanut M&Ms and the chocolate cake. Popcorn was delicious. Everything was delicious! Tables are swing-out and they are small. Barely fit everything. If you want anything else after the movie starts you go to the bar. Seats are comfy but do not recline. I'd return.

In this case though, I'm making an exception because everyone in the Tampa Bay area needs to know about this gem. It's on the second floor of the parking garage at University Mall. Which means you need to navigate around what is left of the mall. There's a separate entrance so you don't have to set foot in the mall itself. The decor is Pee Wee's playhouse and is just as delightful as you would think it would be. They are the top of the game when it comes to special appearances (Kevin Smith was there for two nights, John Waters, Lydia Lunch, Amy Goodman and Todd Solondz have all done Q&As there, just to name a few. Will Oldham has one coming up in September before his performance on the other side of the bay) They show the blockbusters you can see everywhere, but they mix it in with indie films and documentaries that you would have to be in NYC or LA to see otherwise. They also specialize on showing movies on FILM. If you love watching actual film, this is the place that is showing the love! The ticket prices are cheap. The seats are comfortable. The staff is absolutely amazing. The food is far better (and affordable!) than it has any right to be at a movie theater, and they bring it to your seat. There are a TON of vegan options! Which is pretty rare when it comes to going to the movies. It's not just my favorite local movie theater; it's become one of my favorite places in the Tampa Bay region.

But Sun-Ray moving in definitely pushed it in the right direction. Now there are a few other ''dine-in" restaurants in the Tampa area and they're great, sure, but I don't want to donate plasma to be able to afford a movie and a meal. No worries about that at Sun-Ray! The food is insanely reasonably priced. No, the options aren't "heirloom tomato and burrata on a wagyu burger", but there are some really fun options and a LOT of vegetarian and vegan friendly choices. And the popcorn, man, I'd skip the movie and just come in to buy some popcorn. They have a make-your-own popcorn station for goodness sake. While one of those big chain theaters is charging you $3 for a sampler size of popcorn seasoning you can get at Walmart, Sun-Ray has an entire bar of seasonings, add ons, butters, oils... You can also load your popcorn in yourself so you can even layer the flavorings. It's ALSO super reasonably priced with one free refill included! They do also have cocktails and mocktails to enjoy your movie with a bit of fun, and they do specials to add to the bigger movies. As for inside the theater, I read a few people complain that the seats don't recline. I'm honestly okay with that because, you know...eating. And the chairs are super plush, the kind you just sink in and nestle into. I love that a lot. The spacing was pretty comfortable, lots of room for guests and servers to walk in front of you. I also really liked that instead of Big Corporation Showings before the trailers start, they were showing fun videos and local ads. To be entirely honest, I'm not likely to go back to those big name theaters very often now. I'm hooked. (And not just for the popcorn but honestly, mostly the popcorn)

The movie theatre itself is great and I love coming here, but this past experience has filled me with rage like never before. I went to see the minions and monsters movie with my significant other and the first 1 hour or so was great. After that these no good putrid vile disgusting creatures decided they would take it upon themselves to start talking and causing a ruckus during the film. Now this wasn't just soft whispers and quiet talking. NO it was full on conversations and giggling about stuff totally unrelated to the movie. They also were waving around flashlights and running back and forth on the top row which happened to be right above me. If it were up to me I would ban teenagers from public because they have no respect now a-days and it disgusts me how inconsiderate pricks they can be. Now you may think i'm crazy for this and I may agree with you on that but i am certain that I'm on alone on this and maybe some of you will agree and can relate I am still seething with rage after making it home like an hour ago over my minion experience being tainted and interrupted. My night was ruined by the bottom feeder scum of the earth garbage bag teenagers. All 4 of them should be ashamed of themselves and the parents should be publicly humiliated and punished for raising such no good social reject weirdos that can't be respectful in a public setting. We went on a Tuesday because we are retired and living on a tight budget. Senior citizens truly appreciate the discounts on tickets and refreshments. Without that Tuesday special, I doubt we would be seeing any movies. Our experience was not as good as other times we have visited. Getting the tickets in the same line as refreshment orders, seems odd. It took approximately 10 minutes standing in line just to get tickets. Why is the ticket booth out front not being utilized? I understand cost/benefits analysis, but I believe the system there could be improved with some creative thinking. Secondly, I didn't think the movie was ever going to start due to the barrage of ads being shown. I care nothing about movies coming out months away. Also, the volume for the ads was ear piercing. I had to turn my hearing aids off it was so loud. After the movie finally began, the volume was much more reasonable. I plan on returning and hope some of these issues have been resolved.
