He's a face sculptor with Homeland Security clearance. I called same-day like a desperate man spiraling toward scruff-based identity collapse. Chanson said, "Pull up." Within an hour, I was in his chair, already questioning how I ever trusted anyone else with my facial topography. It's like the gods of grooming whispered in his ear: "Make room. There's a beard that needs redemption." Now, my skin is ridiculously sensitive. It once filed an HR complaint after a light breeze touched my jaw. But Chanson? His touch is lighter than the ego of a monk on mushrooms. He lined me up with the tenderness of someone brushing crumbs off a baby's cheek. And yet somehow... My beard lines came out sharper than an isosceles triangle drawn with a protractor blessed by Pythagoras himself. This man did math on my face. Geometry. Symmetry. Divine proportion. At one point, he paused mid-trim and said, "Trust me." Next thing I know, he tilts my head 17 degrees and unlocks my actual jawline. It was like finding out you've been sitting on a winning lottery ticket your whole life... but the ticket was your cheekbone structure. When he spun me toward the mirror, the room went silent. A slow clap broke out. Someone in the waiting area started crying. The raccoon that lives in the alley took off his little hat and whispered, "Respect." My beard? Symmetrical. Powerful. Possibly legally binding. I left that shop with main character energy, a straighter spine, and unsolicited compliments from strangers in Teslas. My jawline now has opinions. It votes. It started an LLC. Vibes in the shop? Chill. Execution? Flawless. Ego? Zero. Just a man from Kaua'i who trims like a Jedi, fades like a surgeon, and probably hears in barbershop frequency. 21/10. Book him now before he's flown back to the island by royal decree to trim the King of Polynesia. He didn't just clean me up, He gave my beard a storyline.

A-Twon advertises loc services, yet does not know how to do them properly…read more -he leaves your locs wet, causing mold, mildew & odor. -he does not oil your scalp, causing dryness. -he uses products that leave an incredible amount of buildup in your locs. -he uses too much force & breaks locs causing thinning. -he does not know how to get locs to combine. -he does not know how to crochet properly, causing damage and thinning. -he does not know how to repair locs, claiming "he doesn't see" clear thinning. To top it off his personality is horrid. -he's been kicked out of or left every shop in LA he's been at for the past 5 years. Now that he has his own studio, with no coworkers to harass, he annoys his current co-op studio staff with nonsensical, paranoid & weird requests. example: -"there's a fish in my vent" no you're just musty -"my old boss is setting off the alarms to mess with me" no it's just a fire drill in the building -"it's too hot in here. turn my vents" no the ac is out. He had a maintenance man come in with a ladder and try to turn the vents WITH ME IN THE CHAIR. When you see how small the studio is you'll understand why that's a huge deal. His time management is atrocious. -he has 0 respect for your time as he is always late, either arriving late or continuing with a previous client in the chair at your appointment time. -then he wants to rush you out of the chair, hair not fully finished, because he's starting the feel the pressure of clients backing up. He lies about his abilities. -He says he can do anything but "wings it" in the moment. Even when provided with video instruction days before an appointment, he will admit to not even looking at it, ask you to pull it up, look at it for all of 5 seconds, say it's something he already does, then proceeds to not do what was asked, because he doesn't know how and didn't take the time to learn. Not the mention his prices grow year after year with no noticeable improvement in ability & little to no increase in services offered. I can afford the price. That isn't the problem. The problem is asking for more money for something that was already bad to begin with. I never wanted to leave a review like this. This review is coming from a black man that has followed this brother from shop to shop for the past 5 years because I want to support my community & continued to give him a chance because I wanted to see him prosper. He is the only person who has maintained my locs from inception to now for 5 years, so this is a major loss for me as I won't be working with him further. Wanting to support your community only goes so far. DO NOT go to A-Twon for loc services 1/10 do not recommend To be fair, A-Twon is a fantastic barber. I have no qualms with his barbering ability. However he should never claim to do locs ever again in this lifetime. NO ONE should get their locs done with him.
