Not to be deterred, I asked which is the recommendation, they said to get the scrambled, which came with Irish butter concoction. Beautiful. The meal was huge - I would always recommend it as a morning meal. I thought the black and white pudding delicious and the sausages were just insanely huge in portion. Not a bad problem. I brought some back to the hotel to my daughter who was sleeping in (college student problem). I also went to the to go counter and ordered some porridge and pasty to go along with a flat white (which still has not hit San Francisco). Flat white is the right kind of coffee. This nice neighborhood restaurant is a great place to eat breakfast if you are staying at the Radisson Blu St. Helen. A short walk. Great ambience. There was something for everyone, and the pizzas were fantastic. It was a warm day, and we were very happy to find that there was a cooling system toward the back of the restaurant, which made our meal much more comfortable. We've eaten at quite a few places during our trip through Ireland, and Gotham Café has been our favorite meal so far. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, and perfect for a family or larger group. The interior is really cosy and cute, they had Italian music playing in the background and there was a very chilled, nice atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming, funny and friendly. My friend and I were only meant to stay for aperitivo so we ordered a Spritz ( a must try - it also came with complimentary homemade focaccia with aubergines, bruschetta and olives) but we liked the place so much we ended up trying some of the food too. Soft lighting, contemporary white furnishings, and a clean aesthetic create an environment that feels equally suited to breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner service. Our group of ten made a reservation in advance, and I'm glad we did - at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, the restaurant was completely full, so I would say reservations are non-negotiable, especially for large parties on the weekend.
