I looked at a few photographers, but when I met with Darrell and I looked at his work I knew I wanted him to be the photographer. He not only had a great portfolio, but his personality showed he really enjoyed taking photos. After we took our engagement photos, I was just SUPER happy with what he did. There is this one picture he took of us at the Palace of Fine Arts in SF and the photo looked so much like a painting. It was so cool, and I didn't expect to get a picture like that at all! It was a great surprise! More importantly, during the wedding he was on time and Darrell and his assistant were so easy going and took so many amazing photos. I gave Darrell tight schedule because we took the wedding party/ family photos before the ceremony and at the hotel (which was a mile from the venue for the ceremony and reception). They did everything on time, and drove to our wedding venue, got there before the wedding party, and they were both ready to take photos for the ceremony as soon as we arrived. Darrell's photography skills are amazing, but at the same time he was also super accommodating. He was able to be flexible with the schedule I created. We also got married up on a loft, and he was able to take great shots from a ladder; while his assistant was up at the loft with us taking shots at other angles. I can't say enough great things about Darrell. I love his work so much, that as a present to my friend, I had him take my friend's maternity pictures. Those photos turned out amazing as well! If anyone is looking for a talented photographer, Darrell is your guy. He's passionate at what he does, and I would trust him to take photos of such an important day. He captures perfect moments that I even missed at my own wedding. It's so great to be able to look through the photos and see what you missed or relive that moment again. Thanks Darrell! Great attention to detail, from telling my bf to conceal his sunglasses in his pocket better, sticking our heads out more to avoid double chins, and re-positioning my dad's "hand in pocket" pose that made his stiff old-chinese-man-self look more natural. Darrell also did my sister's engagement photos and he made my sister's house and backyard look amazing in them! I didn't even realize it was her backyard when I saw the photos because he had such an amazing eye/angle. His fees were very reasonable, but the quality was not there. Many photos had poor backgrounds and were not well framed. He also did essentially no editing. The bride's skin came out overly pink and he did no color correction. I understand that I did not pay for extensive editing, but I was expecting a smaller number of quality pictures, not a dump of several hundred photos of mostly poor quality. I spoke with Gordon about my concerns and his response was that the lighting was difficult because we picked the worst time of day (late afternoon). Our wedding was very simple and I would have been willing to make adjustments such as changing the exact place we did the ceremony, etc. - however, Gordon did not bring any of this up beforehand. His response was that he did not want to upset the bride. Well guess what? The bride is upset now because of the low quality of the photos. My take is that if you have a very simple wedding in a standard venue, Gordon can do an ok job. However, if there's anything challenging (harsh lighting, difficult backgrounds) then Gordon is not up to the job. I hate leaving this review because Gordon seems very nice and he was easy to work with (at least until I saw the finished photos). Ultimately however his photography was not up to a professional level. I'm also upset that I tried to give him feedback when we got the photos and he simply rejected all of it and would not listen to my concerns or do anything to try and improve the situation. We ended up handing the photos off to another professional photographer for editing, with the result that we did get at least a few decent shots.

Ken Ngo is an amazing talented photographer!…read more My family and I had the pleasure working with Ken for our family photo session. And I must say, I definitely made the right decision. Having three kids (one newborn) is indeed a challenge for any photographer out there and patience is a must have. Ken made it absolutely easy for us! Prior to the scheduled session he sent a questionnaire for us to complete to get a better understanding of who we are as a family. And right there, is a great first impression for me because it shows that he cares and puts out the effort and time to learn about his customers instead of just scheduling a session without knowing our family. After completing the questionnaire, he came up with ideas on locations, outfits and props for the photo session. How awesome is that??? I have insecurity issues due to the fact of having three kids and recently giving birth to my newborn. I clearly stressed my concerns with Ken and he absolutely made me feel comfortable. During the session - he made it fun for my kids and surprisingly they had a great time! Those who have kids should already know that kids do not like smiling at the camera for more than 5 minutes! After the session, Ken gave us a timeline as to when we will be receiving the images. The final results that I want to share with you all... The images were delivered on a timely manner as promised and they came out BEAUTIFUL and I really mean it!! There was a story behind every moment that was captured. We usually take family photos at least once a year and I've been to many studios and hired many photographers and my experience is nothing compared to Ken Ngo. It's now been 2 months after the session and I'm still in awe with the photos... I will post some to share! Lastly, being a wedding event coordinator - I've worked with many wedding photographers and trust me, Ken Ngo's professionalism is by far in the high standards and his artwork is beautiful. So when that time came around when my husband proposed to me I knew I already wanted to hire him as our photographer! We first did a test run with my engagement party, the pictures came out awesome so we decide to book him for our e-session and wedding day. As the wedding day came closer ken kept in contact with me to ensure how my wedding planning was going... which show me how much he cares about his clients. We met a few days prior to the wedding to go over the entire wedding day along with the schedule and what I wanted to get done. The wedding day: ken and Jesse was on time and we're ready to rock and roll! Keep in my I'm Vietnamese and I have a huge family! So everyone and their mama wanted pictures. Ken worked really well ensuring that we're on schedule. Let me note it was pouring cats and dogs after the ceremony and ken was able to improvise very quickly with taking our wedding party pictures because our original location did not have any covering! We were able to choose the location, and Steven had already scouted out the best spots when we arrived. We are not a particularly photogenic bunch and were all a little ill at ease at first, but that didn't last long. Steven's easy-going approach and great sense of humor quickly put us at ease--we actually enjoyed the hour we spent with him! The photos are candid, happy, beautifully lit, and truly reflect our family. I will treasure them forever and cannot recommend Steven highly enough.
