Ken Ngo is an amazing talented photographer! My family and I had the pleasure working with Ken for our family photo session. And I must say, I definitely made the right decision. Having three kids (one newborn) is indeed a challenge for any photographer out there and patience is a must have. Ken made it absolutely easy for us! Prior to the scheduled session he sent a questionnaire for us to complete to get a better understanding of who we are as a family. And right there, is a great first impression for me because it shows that he cares and puts out the effort and time to learn about his customers instead of just scheduling a session without knowing our family. After completing the questionnaire, he came up with ideas on locations, outfits and props for the photo session. How awesome is that??? I have insecurity issues due to the fact of having three kids and recently giving birth to my newborn. I clearly stressed my concerns with Ken and he absolutely made me feel comfortable. During the session - he made it fun for my kids and surprisingly they had a great time! Those who have kids should already know that kids do not like smiling at the camera for more than 5 minutes! After the session, Ken gave us a timeline as to when we will be receiving the images. The final results that I want to share with you all... The images were delivered on a timely manner as promised and they came out BEAUTIFUL and I really mean it!! There was a story behind every moment that was captured. We usually take family photos at least once a year and I've been to many studios and hired many photographers and my experience is nothing compared to Ken Ngo. It's now been 2 months after the session and I'm still in awe with the photos... I will post some to share! Lastly, being a wedding event coordinator - I've worked with many wedding photographers and trust me, Ken Ngo's professionalism is by far in the high standards and his artwork is beautiful. I was on Facebook one day a saw some cute/awesome wedding pictures that ken had taken. I started following all the pictures he had taken throughout all the wedding he had done especially the candid moments. So when that time came around when my husband proposed to me I knew I already wanted to hire him as our photographer! We first did a test run with my engagement party, the pictures came out awesome so we decide to book him for our e-session and wedding day. As the wedding day came closer ken kept in contact with me to ensure how my wedding planning was going... which show me how much he cares about his clients. We met a few days prior to the wedding to go over the entire wedding day along with the schedule and what I wanted to get done. The wedding day: ken and Jesse was on time and we're ready to rock and roll! Keep in my I'm Vietnamese and I have a huge family! So everyone and their mama wanted pictures. Let me note it was pouring cats and dogs after the ceremony and ken was able to improvise very quickly with taking our wedding party pictures because our original location did not have any covering! First off, wedding planning is not an easy task (unless you have unlimited time and budget). When we were looking for a wedding photographer that suits our requirements, there were few that met our standards (style of photography, costs and packaging, etc). At the initial introductory meeting with Ken, it felt as though he was genuinely trying to get to know us. From that moment on, I knew Ken would be a great person to shoot our engagement photos and wedding. What set Ken apart was his dedicated moral support, open/honest communication and orientation to detail. Everything Ken had promised, he definitely delivered end to end. During the engagement session, it's always somewhat awkward to be posed (at least for us, who do not regularly take professional photography). I had the pleasure of working with Ken Ngo Photography on our engagement photos. My husband proposed during a camping trip and we asked KNP to help recreate that trip on camera. Ken Ngo happens to be my husband's childhood friend which he reconnected through Facebook :) Upon seeing the awesome photos he posted from his own travels, to his wedding and family photo shoot portfolios, we had to contact him to do our family photos the week we flew back to the Bay Area for vacation. Before our scheduled shoot, he sent us a brief questionnaire to complete about our little family that I'm sure helped him envision where to do the shoot and how to capture our family's "personality". I thought that was a very nice and professional touch. We ended up having our photo shoot at the History Park in San Jose (near Happy Hollow). It was a perfect place since both my husband and I were born and raised in San Jose and had visited Happy Hollow as children. It was a nice touch to share those memories with our kids as well. I have to admit, we were running late but Ken was very patient and cool from beginning to the end. That definitely says a lot because my kids can be pretty fidgety and being that same weekend happened to be one of the hottest weeks in October, they were complaining they were hot, the sun was in their eyes, if we were done yet, etc... He did wonderful with all of this going on and he even brought a bottle of bubbles for the kids to use on some pictures - which happened to be the highlight of that hour. Ken is incredibly talented and we couldn't be more happier with how they turned out. The quality is awesome and every shot could depict what was going on in that very moment. I have been working with Ken for a few years now and have nothing but good things to say. He has helped me capture great photos for my business that are on my website and photo galleries and has also captured outstanding family photos. Unfortunately he was unavailable (my fault) for my wedding but would have used him in a heartbeat. What I really like about Ken is that he is on it. From working with my awkward schedule to make appointments, to getting down and dirty rolling around on the ground to get the right angle he makes it happen; he gets it done. I have worked with other photographers in the past (unfortunately) and the thing I hated most about all of them was there dreadfully long timeline to have photos edited and sent over. Ken did a lovely job photographing our wedding day! Not only is he a great photographer, but he's also super down to earth and made our photo session so much fun, which was really helpful especially on a chaotic day like a wedding! The location we had booked to take our wedding photos told us the place would be entirely ours for the time allotted for our session, but to our disappointment, there was an event going on so we ended up having to take pictures with people in the background which wasn't what we expected. However, Ken took the extra time to Photoshop most of the people out which we REALLY appreciated. Our photos came out beautifully and we couldn't be happier. Writing this review has literally been on my to-do list for over three months now, but that's because (apart from my tendency to put things off until the end of time) it's a little difficult to put into words just how valuable Ken ended up being to us on our special day. Like most other couples (or maybe even more so), my husband and I do not know how to take couple photos/photos in general, and will become more and more awkward with each pose/take/stance. Ken knows how to work with (around?) this kind of awkwardness, and is able to give clear, concise direction that makes the whole situation both enjoyable and easier--and results in beautiful photos. We've worked with other photographers who were too shy/maybe did not care enough to give this kind of direction, or simply did not have the eye to know what it takes to get that special shot, so this was noticed and very much appreciated. Not only that that, he was patient and provided helpful suggestions when all we had were abstract thoughts and ideas, was always readily available and quick to respond, went out of his way to scout locations and find alternative spots if needed, worked around our schedules (we live down in SD) despite his own busy schedule (working full-time + newborn child), knew all the questions and then some that we should be asking ourselves/our wedding party/our venue, and on top of all of that, he's super friendly and pleasant to be around. Ken's genuine spirit and ability to connect were what made working with him so great. He has a very laidback/casual vibe, which works well with our personalities and helped alleviate stress levels--though I will have to say that when it came to the photos, it honestly felt like we didn't have to worry about a thing! From start to finish, it felt like Ken was truly invested in us and doing everything he could to make the day a success. Lastly, his work speaks for itself. I went through pages and pages (and pages and pages) of photographers, and of the hundreds I combed through, was only able to pick out a very small handful of photographers whose work really caught my eye. And not only did I like his style, but I really appreciated him including a gay couple on the front page of his website--yay for equality and inclusion! So this was a long review, but every word needed to be said to really give a well-rounded view of what it'd be like to work with Ken. We are so grateful to have found him and that everything worked out the way that it did. Looking forward to needing a reason to give him a call in the future! Ken was a pleasure to work with. We hired him to take our wedding photos. He and his buddy dealt with us all day and it wasn't easy with the rain. Ken was on top of things from the start. He was easy to contact and great with returning emails. Since we weren't sure about the rain, we had back up locations planned to take our group photos. He also did an awesome job taking our big family photos after. Our reception was a bit crazy so I recommend creating a list of specific pictures you want ahead of time. I found Ken on Yelp after reading the positive reviews. I hired Ken to take photos at my husband's 40th birthday party. We had over 60 guests at the party and many of them told me afterwards how pleasant Ken was. He has an unobtrusive style which I think made everyone feel comfortable. I was very happy with the photos we received. He took a mixture of candid photos and group shots, which I had requested. I love that he also took pictures of the decor, as I spent a lot of time preparing the venue for the party! Ken and his team are quite simply amazing. From the beginning, Ken was easy to work with, very communicative, and we felt right away that he was passionate about what he did, and that it meant a lot to him to make sure our photos were the way we wanted. Pricing is very reasonable, especially for the talent and end product. We were able to meet before hand and discuss the kinds of photos we wanted, and what we didn't. He was very attentive and took notes on everything. The day of my wedding he showed up promptly and got to work straight away. Our day was a long one, from a traditional tea ceremony at my home, an American ceremony at a historical farm, to my reception; he was up to every task, and full of energy. He was able to make my husband feel very relaxed and comfortable when we started taking posed photos. Our photos with just us two as well as with the rest of the bridal party turned out beautifully. Let me start this off by saying Ken is absolutely amazing!!!!!!! I first had the pleasure of seeing his work when he did the photography for my sister's wedding back in 2013 and I fell in love! I used Ken to take my maternity photos and boy did he do a great job! I explained to him that I wanted to capture an "enchanted" nature theme and simply showed him one picture I liked. However, to be honest, on the day of the photo session I did not want to take any photos. At this point I was in my third trimester and I was just not feeling "pretty." But when we got to the location of the photo session my spirits were lifted! To my amazement Ken found a location that was beautiful and captured the theme I wanted. He was very mindful of my pregnancy and made the photo shoot very easy and accommodating. But most of all he took amazing photos that not only capture what I wanted but also made me feel pretty. When we first inquired with Ken to potentially be our wedding photographer, we were so drawn to his kindness, we knew immediately we were going to book him for our big day! I stumbled across Ken Ngo Photography on FB and I was a fan from the start! He captures some great,flawless photos and is incredibly talented. My family of four was due for pictures,so I didn't hesitate to contact Ken.After playing around with some dates,we finally decided a warm,fall day in San Jose.Perfect timing! The location(based on a questionnaire) that was chosen for us, was perfect! Was also asked to bring along some of our personal items,which gave our photos a special touch.A guitar(my hubby's a musician),bubbles for my toddler and a picnic basket.This part I LOVED!Worked with many photographers in the past and never thought to bring my own props.I absolutely LOVE props and think it was a great,added touch!
