I recommend you be transparent in prices/quotes you give over the phone and internet. I was given a quote of 29,026 by Cortez which was very competitive, but later on I found out there was a $960 "protection package" which is a bogus upcharge that other dealerships like napleton, Frontenac, bommarito, and mungenast all warn against. This put my guard way up and made me skeptical about everything I was told by your sales team. Your internet sales manager, David Adams, insulted my sense of logic in an effort to get me to come in to your dealership. I would say not a great strategy. Also David said he would give me a gift card to cover my gas when I drove out. He didn't. One of your sales managers, Robert, began his spiel by telling me how different Frank Leta is because he didn't have to go back and forth with a manager while we negotiated price. He said he could make the decisions. Well, as soon as I laid out a price he said he had to talk to his manager...another instance of me losing faith/trust in you. Robert scratched the price I mentioned on a piece of paper and tried to pressure me into signing it. Total BS. More trust lost. Robert lied about the value of the accessories I wanted and tried to tell me you guys pay retail for them. At this point I was pretty fed up with your operation. Robert returned and said "we have a deal" before I had seen anything in writing. Only then did I find out you didn't even have the car I wanted on the lot!! The whole reason I came out was because Cortez led me to believe you had the exact car I wanted on your lot. Robert didn't know that I could have a St Louis address and still title and register my car in Texas (I told him I was active duty military). He tried to get me to think I had to make the decision on where to title/register while I was in the dealership. I am currently in process of registering in Texas. Wrong again. You always talk about how you "can't beat a Leta." I got a lower offer with all the accessories I wanted included from Ed Napleton while I was at your dealership. I gave Robert the chance to match or beat my offer. He didn't. read more

I have always loved my civics but will never ever go to Frank Leta Honda again for any service including a simple oil change. My 2003 Civil (yes they run forever) had the front low beam light go out. I of course put in a new bulb but determined it was in the wiring. I was originally going to take it to my local shop but when I googled the head light issue it has been a Honda recall. When I called Frank Leta they said I had already had the recall repair made in 2012 and only one repair as allowed. They said to bring it in to look at and Maybe Honda would pay for a second repair. Of course they said the problem was in the fuse box and the repair cost was $839.28!!!! When I said no thanks, they actually tried to charge me a $100 diagnostic fee. They did back down on this. I went my local shop and guess what? It was the fuse box with a charge of $28.50. NEVER EVER have repairs done at Frank Leta. RIP OFF CITY!!!! read more

I took my Honda Civic 2010 to Frank Leta as I had the check engine and drive transmission lights on on my dash and it was not switching gears. My car has only 66000 miles on it and it was most likely that the transmission itself was not bad. I left my car a whole day for tests for which I paid $90. The next day Jason calls me to say the tests were inconclusive and that the technicians could not determine the reason for the error codes but they were recommending to replace the transmission for only $2200. I didn't buy that crap and took my car to AAMCO. After less than 15 minutes they diagnosed a bad input speed sensor that costed me $390 - not great, but much better than $2200 and my car is working perfectly now. Now I'm going to call my credit car vendor to get my $90 back as the diagnosis from Frank Leta was completely wrong and misleading. Be careful with this dealer. I'll never go back there for anything. They're not honest at all. read more

Very bad experience with leasing with Frank Leta Honda and witnessed some of their predatory practices. I could go more about how much of a hassle the process was, constant change in prices/ switching positions/ trying to upsell you on worthless features. But I ended up leasing a vehicle from them when I initially moved to St Louis. Ended completing the lease pay off all of the dues and get some letter in the mail 1 year later about a huge sum of money owed for taxes. I review my contract and talked to them, since it was a lease they were responsible for the taxes and I paid them a monthly bill (which included taxes/ registration), on time and was never late. Received a pretty nasty phone call threatening to send a bill to collection of something of that sort. I asked to review a copy of my contract with them and this became impossible to find or located and I am pretty sure they were responsible for taxes, at least that what I signed. I rarely leave yelp reviews, but I just want everyone to be aware of the bad and predatory leasing properties from this company. Lease from them at your own risk. read more

I do not recommend this dealership. I honestly don't know how they have been getting stellar reviews! Yes they try to be nice and stuff, but that does not make up for the huge incompetence in their operation. Mind you I was nice and cooperative the whole time. It's not like I was one of those obnoxious customers. So the story started with me going to Frank Leta because of its great reviews. I test drove some cars, decided on the car I wanted, and put down a deposit so that I can come back later to pick up the car. However, I had to go in to the dealership THREE more times before they finally figured out all of the paperwork I needed to qualify for the college grad program. So that was a lot of time and gas wasted. We finally got the deal together and I went ahead to finalize the purchase. I drove my new car home and although the car had smudges and fingerprints in the interior (obviously not properly detailed as promised), I decided to just forget about it and be happy with it. But NO, that was not the end of my horror story. The dealership ended up failing to mail the title to me after the "10-14 business days", even though I called the front desk, my sales person, the finance person, and the manager many times to remind them. To this date I have not received the title, it's been almost a month since the purchase, and my temporary tag is expiring tomorrow. My suspicion is that the paperwork got forgotten somewhere in the dealership, and some major communication failures happened between different departments. Every time I called the dealership, it always ended up going to the voice mail after the receptionist transferred me over. You know what's funny? In the end it was the receptionist who tracked down the package for me. Overall, my experience indicates that this dealership is hugely incompetent. The sales and finance teams will try to be nice to you, but they clearly cannot care less about the customers once they walk out of the doors. St. Louis people, don't be fooled by the reviews. It is unbelievable that when I have an appointment for an oil change and I get there on time, they say it will be an hour and 15 minutes, it takes 2 1/2 hours! The wifi connection doesn't work for even one full minute so I couldn't get anything done while I waited. No car wash either, I get in and my radio isn't working and needs a code to turn it on. Simple customer service would be to tell me this or help with it. I have been going there for 3 years b/c that's where I bought my car but never again, it's gotten worse over time. While purchasing a 2003 CRV from this dealership, I requested that the broken CD player be replaced. Two weeks later, I called to remind the dealership about our agreement. I took my car in and in two days picked it up, only to find out that the cheap replacement was either not installed properly or broken, since it could never be programmed. They agreed to fix/replace it again, but since they had contracted out the service, they gave me the contractor's phone number and left me to contact him and make my own arrangements. Of course, my many phone calls were not returned and the broken radio/CD player remained broken. Subsequent calls to the dealership regarding this were fruitless. I finally gave up. Meanwhile, I received a recall notice from Honda and opted to return to this dealership for the repair. (Apparently, something wasn't quite right in my head.) I had also discovered that my door switches were not working properly and as a result, I was often unable to secure my vehicle, and other times I was getting automatically locked out of my vehicle. This sucks when you're pumping gas. After a week in the shop, I received a call from the service manager. He said it seems that a broken Multi Control Unit was to blame for the door lock malfunction and in fact, this was quite common in CRVs. This little repair would cost me only $850.....and since it had been less than 3 months since I purchased the vehicle, they "might" be willing to work with me to reduce the cost a bit. Buying some time, so I could get a second opinion, I told them that I could not afford this repair at the time, so they said they would only charge me only $85 for the "diagnostic". After losing my temper a bit with them, they eventually dropped this charge, since they hadn't told me about diagnostic cost when I dropped the vehicle off. Once retrieved, my husband inspected the door switch situation for me and discovered that they were missing entirely! Now, common sense says that if they had TRULY performed a diagnostic, (that they were more than willing to charge me for ) they might have discovered this? Now, for the coup de grace...... After having my car for an entire week in their shop, they NEVER performed the recall service!!! What were they doing?? After discovering that the recall service was not on my invoice, I called the service department THREE TIMES. Each time I was directed to voice mail. NONE of my calls were returned. Eventually, my husband replaced the door switches himself ($37 and 30 minutes). My car works perfectly now. We also finally replaced the piece of junk broken radio ourselves. Lesson learned. Bought my car here and it's great. The problem I have is the obnoxious wait time in getting your car serviced for anything. Even just a car wash takes forever and they do not do that great of a job. I asked them specifically if they could clean the inside of my front windshield for example. When they were done they said it had been done. It hadn't. Furthermore they services my car and on my way home my tire pressure alert came on. All tires were okay on pressure but a bit low. They didn't fill up any of them as they said they would do. * I found a certified 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid for sale online at Frank Leta Honda O'fallon, Misouri. * I called to get information on it. I asked for the condition and if it had been previously damaged. They told me it was very well cared for and clean. Great condition. I asked about the features including heated seats, leather seats, navigation, Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. They told me it had all of these. * I asked about trade-in value for my car. * After giving them the VIN and other information they quoted me $8000 trade-in value. Based on this number, I decided to trade-in. * I decided I wanted to get the car but couldn't make the 5 hour drive for a week. * They told me I needed to put down a $500 deposit that could be applied to my down payment. * I made the deposit. * I drove to O'Fallon, Missouri from Overland Park, Kansas to pick up the car in July 2012. * I waited 1 hour to begin my transaction because no one could wait on me except my sales guy (according to them) and he was "running late." * They showed me the car in a showroom that had the lights off... very dark and hard to see any flaws. I got in to check out the features and found out there were actually NO heated seats. Remember they had told me there were. When I asked about it, the salesman got defensive and argued that he never told me there were heated seats... he did. * After evaluating my car they offered me $7000 trade-in. I said no and they said the highest they could go was $7250. * I felt trapped because I had already given a $500 deposit and driven the 5 hour drive to get there, so I had to go ahead and agree to $7250. I felt completely taken advantage of. * The salesman also told me (after I had already made a deposit and driven so far) that the leather, nav, Bluetooth and steering wheel controls were all after market. He neglected to tell me that when I was asking all my questions before making my deposit. * After leaving the lot, I realized they had had a paper sign over a major flaw in the rear window's tint. They also had parked the car in a way where the side I was seeing was not the one with major, deep scratches on the rear bumper. I also realized there were dents on the hood. These are things they easily could have fixed themselves but didn't bother to. I also feel like a Honda Certified car should have been free of these simple-to-fix cosmetic flaws. * In my first two weeks of owning the car I was getting ridiculously low gas mileage. It was supposed to get 40mpg city and 45mpg highway. I was averaging 30 and each day it seemed to drop. * I called Frank Leta wanting to return it because I was so unhappy. They refused and told me I needed to take it to a local dealership to determine why it was getting such low gas mileage. * I took it in the next Monday and they called to tell me that the battery engine was severely corroded. * O'Neil Honda told me that my Honda Certified warranty covered this replacement. Normally I would be happy about that except for the fact that the salesman at the dealership I purchased the car at (Frank Leta) told me that if I wanted the battery engine covered, I had to purchase this really expensive extended warranty plan, so I did. Now I'm feeling like that was just a huge waste of money, and I didn't even neeed it. * After all these headaches, I felt entitled to some sort of refund. I would have liked to just return the car but Frank Leta refused. I called them and spoke to a general manager. He said he would pass my information along to another person to determine what to do and he would call me back. * Another Frank Leta manager called me and I had to go through my story all over again. He said he would talk to another manager and get back to me. Two weeks went by with no call. I called them back and had to explain my whole story again to another manager. He said he would check with someone else and call me back. I called them back again and had to explain my whole story again. He asked for me to fax him the information that my local dealership (O'Neil Honda) had provided me with showing that the battery was corroded. I faxed him the paperwork. I never heard back from him. I called him several weeks later about it and he said he would send me a couple gas cards. I said that was not good enough and he said he would see what he could do. I never heard from him again. I called and left him a voicemail. He stopped returning or taking my calls. * I couldn't believe that Frank Leta had sold me a "CERTIFIED" car with a corroded battery engine, lots of cosmetic damage, after market interiors and technology, and a previous wreck (found this out after purchasing as well... guess they "forgot" to mention that when I was asking about the car's condition and history before I made my deposit). read more

Went to frank leta to purchase a car- first off - the initial visit when purchasing this car took 4.5 hours to complete (in comparison I just bought a different car at a dealer and was in and out in 30 minutes). The business as a whole is very unorganized- they don't meet expectations they tell you they will up front. My car I bought from them ended up having a faulty power steering function and they wouldn't pay jeeep to replace the part- my only options - return the car or exchange for a similar (the only similar car on the lot had 20,000 more miles on it). Very disappointed on this - think the dealership who sold me the car should've replaced the part . But they will just go sell the faulty car to someone else. Eventually after 2 trips of Frank leta coming to get the car and not fixing the issue- we decided to return it.Then returned to the facility to finalize the nightmare and no one knew what the hell was going on - unorganized mess of a dealership.
