One of my favorite weekend walking or short hiking spots…read more They also have a big pond/lake with a small sandy beach that has a lifeguard in the summer. It's very kid friendly and there are tons of families there in a warm day. By the beach there are restrooms, picnic tables and a cafe that serves snacks, fast food and ice cream. You can walk a loop around the water which is very scenic and relatively easy on a paved road. Or you can venture off the road onto the many hiking and mountain biking trails that run through the woods. Bring decent shoes for this as the trails are relatively short but can be steep, rocky and muddy at times. It's beautiful and peaceful but also there are enough people out that a single woman alone could feel safe. Lots of people bring their dogs for walks here. There are also picnic spots with grills and areas where you can boulder and rock climb. Truly a lovely park that has something for everyone!

That said, as a life long RI-er this was one of those places that had been on my 'to-do' list for some time and I finally got around to getting there. Very mixed feelings. First, the amount of dogs off-leash is astounding. There was even one that came charging at me and I drew my pepper spray to prepare to use it, and the owner started freaking out at me. Luckly the dog stopped before I had to. The amount of landmines on the trails and road was absurd as well. It may very well be a nice place to walk and recreate, but if I have to consistently keep my head on a swivel for charging dogs and landmines then its not really worth it for me. That said, there are plenty of nice views and scenery. One could easily spend an entire day here just exploring and milling about. There's even a cemetery in the park as well, if you're into historical sites. So if you don't mind off leash dogs and have to watch every step you may still get some enjoyment out of it.

You do have to pay to get in- but it's really cheap! Sadly the arcade was closed and the water slides weren't in the water due to Covid. The concession stand, bathroom, playground and mostly everything else was open! The water was what you would expect for a lake! A little slimy- but it was cool you could see huge sun fish swimming right next to you! There wasn't too many people here which was nice! They had lifeguards on duty! They had a roped off section where you could rent kayaks, paddle boards and little row boats which was priced amazing at like $7.00 an hour or $7.00 for 45 minutes the only downside was that it was roped off to a small section only due to covid! They had a volleyball court, a playground, ping pong tables and so many cool attributes. Lunch for 3 people was less then $25 including ice cream which is amazing- at the beach it would have been $60! I was quite impressed with this little beach and I would definitely be back- My only complaint would be wishing the parking was closer!

It does not matter that it is closed, people will come anyhow and do what ever they want, good or bad, b/c there is noone to police their activities. This is a nice place when the riff raff is not there. The riff raff caught wind of it and now it's being taken over by ignorant people. Everyone has a right to enjoy the place, but we should be considerate of others and respect the natural environment. Instead, these people leave their trash. They leave hookah tips, grills, dump.out grease, dump charcoal out, they leave socks, bras, clothing, toys, empty cups, styrofoam coolers full of empty beer bottles, condoms, and fishing garbage behind. Every Monday, it's as though a bunch of ferrel animals came and shit on the place and left their smelly, disgusting mess behind. So, the downfall is that people are so ignorant. They come, they are inconsiderate, they blast their music, they drink and smoke, and basically break every rule there is. They have no regard for the wildlife. I saw a guy on his jet ski run into a family of ducks as he was trying to show off in a no wake zone! Try fishing off the shore with that awhole around. Also, the bathrooms are not open and so they must go in the water or the woods. I find a lot of tissues on the ground at the edge of the woods. Some people take their trash and throw it in the woods down the embankments. Only uncivilized and inconsiderate people do things like that and unfortunately, they found out about Georgiaville Pond. It is a crying shame. The cops try to come often and there is a security detail that checks in there, but it doesn't matter. These low class people still manage to beat the system.
